No idea if there's anything in it, but BBD would be a substantial upgrade on what we currently have.

He was hot & cold, absolutely, but when he was hot, he was one of the best forwards in the division.

And, even at cold, he's still significantly better than what we currently have.

Ben Ben Ben Brereton ton ton ton

He scores a goal goal goal

My heart explodes with joy

I was told this tale on Wednesday, discounted it,cos I thought he had signed for Sheffield United...

Brereton has had 6 goals and 1 assist since leaving us and played for 3 different teams (Villareal, Sheff Utd and Southampton)...

Gueye has assisted 6 (albeit 1 was absolutely not an assist and was a complete miss kick that Beck smashed home) and 3 goals.

Ohashi, 5 goals and 1 assist...

Based on them stats alone, would you take him? Because they're not much different to what we currently have.

I'd rather than focus on someone who has a better record than that other than the potential of a one season wonder coming back and trying to replicate the last form he had with us whilst playing with different players, a different manager and a different set up.

Major gamble however, is likely pure paper speculation bullshit.

I would judge BBD immensely if he came back here. To wind down your contract to ensure you have an easy way out, only to return on loan two seasons later? No chance. Move on.

Missed that from my last comment, but 100% share this opinion.

No to Diaz, feel he's punching way above his weight half the time and in all honesty  if he came back we'd get the Brereton in his first season...Bambi on ice.

He comes across abit of a nob as well these days.

So sheff United happy to take him

sunderland want him

but no to rovers?

id be interested to know who our fans actually would be happy with (realistically) and before numerous people say spend x amount on such n such as we have banked 40million. That’s not happening

Just my opinion I wouldn't take him, he's probably better than what we have but we need a fast and direct winger...Then an all out number 9 for the goals.

Its amazing we've been shouting for pace for years and still haven't really filled that bracket...Khadra, Rothwell were both our last really direct quick players...Surely there's options abroad??

I'd like someone quick and skilful on the L/RW (I'd switch Dolan / Hedges / ACD to which ever wing the new signing didn't play) and I'd like another big / quick option upfront so we can loan out Leonard to L1.

One of those has to be a permanent imo. I'd love to go back in for Poku and test their resolve.

Every fast and direct winger we get linked with comes with ‘has no end product’ ‘useless’ etc that type of player is very unique and not likely available in jan so we need to manage expectation for that position in particular

like if all we want is speed I’m sure there are plenty of league 2 players who are absolutely flying quick

we need a left sided winger/forward who is comfortable out there ideally is pacey enough/tricky and a goal scoring 9

this won’t happen but if BBD did come in I’d go for al-Hamadi I’d be happy with that (won’t happen though)

If we’re dealing strictly in loans, this would be a good window by my book, completely off the top of my head and reading from who could be available

Ryan Manning

Louie Barry

Thomas-Asante

Ronnie Edwards

Isaac Hayden

(we’ve missed out on 3 of these by being so slow)

Plugs the gaps at left back, centre back, brings goals from wide, experienced striker with a goal scoring record and a bit of pace, and an ‘experienced head’ covering in centre mid that everyone so desperately wants, without being 41 years old.

The no end product isn't the end of the world for me though, if they bring 5/6 goals a season that's not bad when everyone else is scoring...Goals are for the number 9, and the LW is there to bring some energy to the team. We are so sluggish and dull it's unreal....I brought it up the other day, the Burnley home game we had sooo many chances to break in the space but we failed as we just didn't have the pace or quality.

Rothwell for example,  he didn't bring many goals or assists but he had that edge...Imagine Rothwell in JDTs team? We need a player like him on the wings, that will make a huge difference.

We’ve just signed the “ experienced head “ in centre midfield in Forshaw apparently, I can’t see us signing another one.

Sorry, should’ve said this was before our ground breaking signings.

Just out of curiosity who do people want as realistic signings for left wing and centre forward?

id take Diaz back - much prefer him on the left than hedges

Harry Toffollo (Loan - Eustace still after a LB)

Maxwell Cornet (Loan to buy if promoted)

Reda Khadra (Permanent)

Tom Cannon (Permanent)

Jayden Danns (Loan)

Genuinely think the above business gets us promoted.

Brereton would be a very good signing, but it isnt happening.

Would be something if we signed with an obligation to buy upon promotion, if we then got promoted and paid a big fee for a player we let go for free when we had chances to sell for big money the summer before when the owners refused.

Agree with this.  We need someone  quick simply to get us  the up the pitch and turn teams round.  Most teams play a high line against us because they know we don't have any pace.

Khadra got quite a bit of stick for having little  end product - yet he was a threat and teams had to sit deeper as a result.

Think you missed the realistic part

and before you say it yes I’m aware we have gained 40million in player sales but I was asking based on the reality of venkys and the likelihood of what we can/will go for
