You don’t know anything about Wallace if you think he’s like our other ‘wingers’.

And I gave reasons why he was a Eustace player. Unlike you and others I don’t just dismiss players with sweeping statements that can’t be proved.

He's technically good. Likes possession of the ball. Isn't quick.  So he's basically dolan, Hedges, Cozier-Duberry.

Whenever we’re discussing the likes of Bamford, I can’t help but think about bringing in other players down the years who used to be pretty good. John Radford and Fred Pickering in particular. It rarely works. Forget them and move on.

I thought Radford was quite good tbf.

Agree on Bamford though.

John Byrom, Fred Pickering, Roque Santa Cruz, David Bentley. The second time around was pretty poor.

Again, you’re wrong. I was discussing Wallace in the context of why I think He is a Eustace player. Nothing to do with Nixon. Try and engage with what is being said.

He might be a Eustace player but it's not what we need as a priority - Both Hedges and Dolan are Eustace players.

Your positivity and hopefulness is great but we arnt bringing in 2 more wingers, unless another player is leaving of course.

Didn’t Dave Gregory come back for a second spell and disappoint?

I have seen Nathan broadheads name mentioned- that would be an exciting signing- perfect age and would fit in our system well. Well done the pecking order at Ipswich.

He has started the last couple for Ipswich, was missing at the start of the season due to an injury picked up in the summer

It is however possible that if they sign Philogene that he may move on, although Hutchinson is already missing for them for some time

Looking at the names being linked, I can't help but wonder what the point is of the recruitment team that the club made a song and dance about putting together not so long back.

It's looking like a bit of a facade to me and it seems like John Park might have had a similar feeling too.

Jed Wallace. A player that Mowbray is said to have lined up to sign with the Rothwell sale money (neither ended up happening). If true, that's another former target we are revisiting. Where's the imagination? Where's the recruitment team?

Brereton Diaz. Wasn't all that the first time round IMO, though better than what we have now. Fell off badly when we needed him most. Would be a lazy move by the club to just try for somebody they know as a former player. Again, where is the imagination? What is the point of the recruitment team?

Brereton being better than what we currently have is true, but it feels to me like some are eager to rush him back as the alternative signings could be total shit. In that case, again, what is the point of the recruitment team?

Also, the argument from some that Brereton would be better than signing an unknown pacey player suggests a lack of faith in recruitment to find what we need.

Bamford. Another ageing, former Boro player. Hmm. Hello? Recruitment team? Anybody home?

Would love it if true but if that were to be the case and he was made available he won’t be short of suitors

Either way that's the sort of signing we need to be targeting imo potential stars of the future or players on the way up or at their peak.

Not ones on the way down unless they were truly exceptional to begin with.

Jed Wallace? Patrick Bamford? After Forshaw are we trying to put together a team capable of winning the 2014/15 Championship season???

Not a fan of either of those players. Wallace doesn't really appear to be what we need (i.e. pace on the flanks) and Bamford seems to be winding his career down a fair bit, not to mention being heavily injury prone and with a terrible goal scoring record in recent years....isn't he on 5Live more than a football pitch these days anyway? Jed Wallace before he went to WBA would've been a great bit of business.

What I will say is that both of these links feel like a journalist is throwing brown stuff at a wall and hoping it sticks. Wallace as the alternative to Schlupp? Two players that may play in the same position but are totally different in the way they play...it doesn't make sense.

Ok, Ok...not much really makes sense with Rovers these days, but this all just stinks of random journo links...same goes for Brereton Diaz.

I think what's more likely to happen is that we'll get wind of deals for players hours before they sign, as seems to have been the case with Rovers for most of their transfer business in the last couple of windows.

 No opinion on Wallace…but..Bamford.. NO

A friend of mine is a Leeeds season ticket holder …and his words, at the end of last season nail it …

“ If we’d have had Szmodics and you’d have had Bamford we’d  be in the Premier League and you’d be in League 1 “ ..nough said !

Don't think so.  He came in on loan, was a sensation, didn't get on with Jim Iley and went elsewhere as far as I can recall.

The Board got flak about it and that probably did for Iley.
