Come on now! I’m all up for opinions and debates but let’s not just say things that aren’t true.  I don’t want Bamford and don’t think he solves our problems but at this current time in their respective careers he is clearly better than Leonard. And Jed Wallace is clearly an upgrade on never available and uninterested sigurdsson.

I’d rather keep them 4, Bamford isnt an upgrade

We don't know what the Club were offering him to stay - probably not very much - and I didn't think he downed tools any more or less than anyone else in that season's version of the 2nd half death spiral.

I don't bear any ill will towards him at all.

More fool you.

I felt exactly the same way as you do about Lucash but back then we were an established PL Club, he'd been made Captain and he would no doubt have been offered a reasonably competitive PL wage to stay so I viewed that as a purely sideways move apart from the money aspect.

BBD not the same imo. He got a move to a team in a higher League. They're professional footballers not supporters of the Club like you and I.

Exactly, he's a professional and didn't conduct himself like one.

Club is rudderless.  Waggott on record at the end of last summer stating pace, power and resilience needs adding to the squad.  That will be the focus for recruitment.

Still waiting for the first 2 and Wallace/Bamford won't bring either.

Still doesn't look like a penny will be spent in fees in Jan.  No permanent signings.

Just a collection of players, who at this stage of their career, are injury prone journey men.

What's the point of any kind of recruitment/scouting team?

I say it every time, but it's terrifying, isn't it?

That £40m really has disappeared into a black hole.

Well argued. You'd have thought if Eustace rated him that highly he'd have been looking to bring him in permanently.

Forshaw?

We probably can't afford to pay a fee to take Sanderson permanently maybe it's one they will look at In the summer

Forshaw yeah is underwhelming and on first glance a downgrade on Baker but il judge him on what he does with us not what he has done at Plymouth or his other clubs

So I'd say we are stronger at the back with Sanderson to call upon rather than Mcfadz but weaker in midfield but we will see what Forshaw can bring

It's in the forward areas where massive improvement needs to come not confident with some of the names being linked and if truth to Wallace and Bamford the remaining budget probably crap and hoping the players or clubs do us favours by taking less money or the clubs paying off some of their contracts

Think Brereton would be a big risk for half a season. He's a purple patch player and if we get him when he's not in one of those patches he'll be no more use than the players we have now. He was part of a group of players who had a poor mentality, a group of players that couldn't handle it when things weren't going well, and for that reason alone I wouldn't want him back as Eustace has done a good job of finally getting rid of that in the current squad on some level. Perhaps he could change Brereton's mentality in time, but not within a six month loan spell.

Anyhow, it's all moot if Sheff Utd and Sunderland are also interested. He'll go to one of those and quite rightly so, from a neutral perspective.

Agree with some of that but imo there is a subtle difference between keeping Eustace "happy" and him being forced to pick players of his choice off the C or D list because the budget is virtually non - existent.

Do you think he'd have brought in Sanderson and Forshaw by choice if we had a healthy budget?

Honestly, I don’t know. We don’t know what’s been agreed. The manager seems like a realist to me. Not like JDT who was hell bent on his own narrative.

My guess would be, they’ve agreed X and so long as they deliver it, he will accept it. He doesn’t seem annoyed with the two signings and Sanderson in particular looks 1000% JE.

I was asking your opinion. You dont have to keep saying Eustace said, Eustace wants etc and assuming if thats what he wants, then echoing him. We dont know for sure how much input Eustace has and how happy he is. He isnt going to say in the media, well player x is a bit shit but they signed him anyway. He also might consider signings to be the best we can afford, indeed he referenced yesterday that both signings dont take up much budget. Obviously he should have the final say, but it doesnt mean if he endorses it, thats its the right signing. We can have opinions that are different. We clearly have different opinions on being backed considering our league position, prior sales and a thin squad. Being backed is not just him agreeing with a signing. He might well have wanted better quality and cant afford it. You think being backed is just the manager agreeing to the signing.

I would actually suggested you look at the players we have been linked like Wallace, Kitching, Bamford, Schlupp. They are experience players and also factoring our 2 signings are both experience at this level. So maybe that a clue what Eustace wants in terms of signings, also factoring in 12 months ago we were younger players, now we aren't, under Eustace is about now and the present.

Would you been in favour of signings Danns from Liverpool on loan for the season as striker signing in this window?

If you can't see its Eustace pushing for experience signings then fine, I will leave it there.

Youve made that up on Weimann and Batth. Weimann I said at the time was a useful pickup as a squad player. It was McFadzean out of the 2 centre backs that I didnt agree with signing. Also, when Hyam came, Coventry fans did rate him. Batth also came with Sunderland fans all saying hes a good player, I dont think Norwich fans had much of an opinion as he didnt really play.

I'm surprised cos we all know you love to write players off based on fans opinions

1 hour ago, roversfan99 said:

And my mind isnt made up on either of the new signings. Sanderson is reasonable enough cover as 4th choice and an upgrade on McFadzean, Forshaw in a position where we need someone in the team now I think is a poor signing. But especially on the latter as I have a stronger opinion, if he comes in and does well, I will happily change my opinion.

stronger opinion based on what? Plymouth fans opinions?

who says Sanderson is 4th choice?

1 hour ago, roversfan99 said:

FWIW, Thomas Asante is not a source of many goals and has had a shocking time at Coventry.

Thomas Asante hasn't had the best time at Coventry but at WBA his record was better than 1 goals in 4 games. So yes he would be on my shortlist as would be Emil Riis.

We are just discussing rumours, theres probably a strong chance we get neither of Bamford and Wallace. Im just asking, if our remaining business was to get them 2 on loan, would you consider us well prepared/likely to get into the play offs?

firstly, who says they are loans?

secondly, my problem was your comments on Wallace and Bamford being has been players at the age 30 and 31 years old.

thirdly and to answer your question, is depends if we sign Bamford and he was fit for every game. This season has been injury one and for that reason I would say no to that deal but what do I know about injuries

1 hour ago, roversfan99 said:

Do you also think we need pace, or is your mindset, if Eustace prefers older experienced players then you will just agree with that?

I don't think its about all about pace an if we sign this pacey player everything is great.

I want a striker who can score goals, hold the ball up and get us those crucial goals.

Bamford is a bellend, really hope we don’t go for him.

Yep. I agree he is a bellend. Heard from a number of people who have worked with him that he’s a bit like marmite. Posh boy irritates some people

But as a footballer, he’s good. He is better than what we have. Given a run of games as the main man then I reckon he will show his quality

I heard about Wallace on Friday, but was told to keep quiet. Expect it done before the end of the window. Eustace wants Bamford. Swag favours BBD in hope of increasing ticket sales for the return of the messiah 😂

Of the two I’d rather have BBD. At least he’ll be out there on the pitch. I was hoping for something better to be honest.

He’ll be retired within two years. That body has a lot of mileage on it.

On reflection, if Wallace was to come in as a replacement for an outgoing Sigurdsson then I'm ok with that, because Wallace is more likely to actually be available for match day squads at least.

On Bamford - people can keep saying he's better than what we have and that may be true, but it's irrelevant because he is always injured...he's even injured at the moment! We don't need another crock, we only just got rid of Sam Gallagher in the summer for goodness sake. Would end up being a waste of a squad number.

I have to say I can't stand our fanbase on twitter. Sanctimonious, holier than thou enablers of our penny pinching owners.

I've just been called delusional for saying Bamford is an uninspiring signing, suggesting that I want the club to spaff £10m on some non existent championship hot shot.

These pricks are poisonous, shouting down anyone who dares suggest that we should be aiming higher than a crocked has been with a shit scoring record. Fuck me for expecting that we display an ounce of ambition in our third January in a row where we find ourselves within reach of the playoffs.

Exactly what I’ve been told also. But yeah, suppose he is better than current crop
