My opinion was clearly. I wouldn't loan Leonard out. How much clearer could it be?

It’s pretty simple chaddy if you weren’t pushed into saying you think ‘Eustace is/was wrong’ come the end of the window it means you can’t turn round and say

well I didn’t say Eustace was wrong I merely said in my opinion Leonard should have stayed

just clarification

its easier with simple yes or no answers saves all the bs in the middle

Can you see Plymouth selling ? I suppose they’re thinking the=money will allow then to strengthen in several positions.

I can unfortunately. Depends on his contract length at Plymouth too.

You know full well Chaddy won't be judging the manager until he has left.

What do people want in a striker, completely the opposite of gueye? Or does that even matter these days as we don’t play two up top so they don’t have to compliment each other.
I would want pace and a good finisher, unfortunately I’m struggling to see where that’s coming from in the uk market on our budget

Oh, I dunno... perhaps someone who knows where the onion bag is, shows commitment and skill in front of it, who works his arse off for the team running the opposition ragged for 90 minutes at a time, gets back and does his fair share defending our goal , who creates chances for others as well as hoovering them up for himself... hmmm, didn't we have one of those last season??

Ipswich news: Sammie Szmodics speaks after signing from Blackburn - BBC Sport

And, if my memory serves me, weren't we looking at another product of the same outfit that produced Sammie? What happened to those links??

I think to summarise most broadly, if we signed 2025s version of Adam Armstrong (i.e. a pacey player who can finish and do a job out wide from a lower division) then most would be satisfied allowing for the slap in the face this may be given sales of previous years.

Who that player is? Ricky Jade Jones? Poku? Kyle Joseph? Big Louis Barry loan?

If this is the target (which I'm starting to think it is) then I can start to see some logic in Wallace provided it doesn't eat into a bigger budget for the mystery striker come winger mentioned above.  In 35 minutes increments, you'd think Gueye and Wallace would trouble most teams (provided the ball is above shoulder height)

It has to come abroad...the recruitment team have had plenty of time to select targets, we have a budget (of some kind) so there's not really any excuse.

I think we could really use a winger or a wide forward. He’s not coming back but BBD would be a good fit. Wide player, scores goals, but also isn’t afraid to put a shift in providing cover.

It's not a popular view, but I wouldn't loan Leonard out either. I also wouldn't be at all suprised to see him start against Portsmouth.

I liked our shape against Boro with Leonard creating a defensive front four when their centre halves had the ball. I also liked how he reacted in the transitions and a lot of his movement around the box.

Another striker however is still required. But when you read that the likes of Bamford and BBD are on circa 30k to 35k per week it demonstrates what a tough challenge it is to get decent value.

I think someone who is quick who will run in behind. Allow us to play on the counter if needed, give us someone to press high up the pitch if needed and give Cantwell in particular an option to play passes through too rather than having everyone coming short.

Gueye isnt very good full stop but I dont think a target man suits the rest of our players.

riis from preston would be perfect, got the height as well as the pace, there is no way pne will sell him to us though

Correct. We need to replace Sammie. As like for like as possible.

He has never really recovered from his serious injury and he isnt that quick although a clear upgrade on what we have.

But as you say, we wouldnt get him for a twix and a curly wurly.

For Leonard, he's doing everything more or less right bar the finishing and timing of runs.  For me these both come from confidence and form.  I

In a bit of a weird way it's unfortunate for him that were up amongst it this year because if we were on course for a bog average 16th then you'd think he'd have a few more chances in 2025.  If that happens and he gets 1 or 2 on the bounce then who knows what clicks

never recovered from his serious injury, what is that based on. He has 7 goals in 26 games this season and in which he started 21 games out of 26

He had a season prior to his injury where he scored loads and he was being linked with big money moves away.

He doesnt look like he will get close to that sort of figure again and from when I have seen them hes not quite as sharp.

He would be an improvement on our strikers but we wont pay the money so a non starter.

Riis' goals record isn't even that good. He is generally a 1 in 4 scorer, with only one season that was much better than that (16 in 44, all the way back in 2021/22). He has also not played more than 26 league games in a season since then (that 26 being this season though, so he should do it this year). Even if we could afford it, which we can't, it would be a fairly risky one.
