January Transfer window

I think either Doolan or Dodds would be decent appointment but we need someone who will be here in the Chief Scout for 3 or 4 years,

Why French or German?

I guess Gestede wants us to be shopping in those markets in the future transfer windows

The way things are ran at the moment, if someone stayed for 3 or 4 years in that post I'd be worried. Any Chief Scout worth their salt will get tired of barely having a budget to work with, and being undermined by other power brokers in the hierarchy. If they stay that long (unless things here change) they're probably desperate or a yes man.

I wouldn't. Not alot of championship clubs are spending much money out there unless they sell key players. Plus its will be interesting who we appoint and whether Gestede gets to appoint who he wants. I would prefer someone with experience in a similar role and knowledge of UK and Europe markets.

That only works within the limit of 4 non-UK players and currently there's at least 3 places taken. Can Guestede count to 4?:

Its a fair point but depends whether they would qualify similar to what Tronstad did

Nixon also reckons it will be loans in January.Apparently the Szmodic,Raya and Wharton money has gone on paying wages.

Also said Gestede seems to be good at boardroom politics. Said he was behind the Gueye signing whilst Beck and Cantwell were pushed by Park.

With our budget they won't be players that qualify for a work permit that we will be signing.

Gestede is unqualified and seems to have brown nosed his way into the shot caller at the club

Yes people said that before we signed Tronstad who has been quality signing.

They let go the guy who suggested our best two signings and kept the one who suggested the worst?

Venkys/SW in a nutshell 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Who is the second player after Cantwell?

In the telegraph during the week (might have been quoting the minutes) it was said that Parks departure is down to him disagreeing with the clubs plans to only use data for transfer targets going forward.

We have had Gestede already fronting up to the media defending the owners about the lack of money spent, with his "we don't get all the money at once" excuses. No wonder he is popular with the board and seems to be becoming the main man behind the scenes .Getting really fed up of them taking us for mugs

Tronstad was a free transfer. What free transfers are we signing in January?

No point Even thinking about transfer windows beyond that no doubt we will have a totally different model come summer like usual

Gestede also criticised the fans for not turning up in greater numbers. He’s another Waggott.

We have to see what is available in the January market. I seen Nicko comments but I hope we can spend some money on a striker or wide player. Could be the different between a playoff place and not. Finding a quality striker is hard enough with money. I think Riis from PNE would be decent enough and an improve on Gueye.

Not been the best in all truth but with different head coaches and different structure, you will be get this.

We need to settle this down and employ a chief scout with 4 scouts under him looking at different parts of the UK and Europe for players.

Does anyone know any of the current scouting staff? have we made appointments to the scouting staff in the summer?

PNE have a number of players out of contract this summer and some won't sign new contracts there so I think they might some a couple in order to raise funds for Heckingbottom to buy some of own players. They spent 1.7m on a winger who has never had a look in under Heckingbottom.

I think £1m for Riis is a bargain for us

He hasnt had a good time in the last couple of years and Preston fans have been very critical on his lack of goals but he has picked up lately. Either way, even if we had it and even allowing for his expiring contract, they arent selling him to us for a million.

And it doesnt take detective Nixon to realise that we almost certainly wont be spending any 7 seven figure fees in January. Venkys have no interest in what happens in the rest of the season.

Even when we sell key players we get nothing to spend.

Hardly a guess that requires any insider info.

Maybe the reasons why he has picked up this season is a change of manager and his form dipped down to Lowe and how he was played. Heckingbottom is playing to his strengths finally

I worked with a number of PNE STH all rated him and said he is quality player.
