But Chaddy likes Asante so he must be good. Jason Roberts type player, fairly quick and physical, terrible finishing. A loan with an option in case of promotion is probably about the best we can hope for given the Venkys/Waggott millstone we have to work under Edited January 15 by KentExile Quote

Nowadays 1.7 million is like the bulk of our transfer kitty. He's not worth taking a risk on Quote

briansol Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Not a big fan of Asante. It's obvious that Eustace now seems to have much bigger say in the signings. After the more "exotic" approach in the summer with Gueye, Ohashi and Tooth, it's now all about "proven" Championship operators. Since our tactics is mostly sitting in and hitting on the break, they probably view Asante as a mobile and quick option to hit them on the break. Probably different from what we have, but very same in that he doesn't get much goals. We are very much to be solid, boring mid-table side. Some might argue that's better than playing your way into relegation like we did at the end of JDT's tenure. Personally I'm torn. 2 Quote

Dolly blue Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Would love to see Aasgard in a Rovers shirt…really well thought of at Wigan, great attitude , tons of ability, perfect age, experienced….who doesn’t love a Norwegian.. 2 Quote
TheRevAshton Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Coventry fans all think BTA is shit, can't wait to see him go. He's 26 years old. With 19 goals in 97 Championship appearances. He's absolutely shite. 4 Quote

Now this I could get on board with, but our Club is unfortunately run by stupid, useless, tossers. Edited January 15 by TheRevAshton 1 Quote
RevidgeBlue Posted January 15 Posted January 15 The suggestion is that we have actually submitted an offer to Coventry for £1.75m. Whether or not anything comes of this link that would tend to indicate the approximate budget for the main signing, "the striker". Doesn't look like we'll be spending much on a wide man then. 1 Quote

I’d have looked mildly threatening against that and I can’t strike a ball with my right foot It's quite possible that he's just having a poor season this season and Eustace could improve him. Just a thought. 3 Quote
Eddie Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Not only do we need improvement up front, but we also need options. I'll welcome virtually any signing that adds to our attacking options. 1.7m for a bit of pace and strength could be useful. It's difficult to read into the goalscoring records of players. When we were good, we made a living out of signing underperforming attacking players and getting a tune out of them. 3 Quote
Rover1984 Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Not seen much of Asante but if he has pace it could be very useful. Cantwell is a creator, looks frustrated when himself and Gueye are on the pitch together, Looked more interested when Leonard is up top. If we can sign a player who Cantwell can work off/use in behind we will have two new players in my eyes 3 Quote

Now threatened with a new signing you want him to play? 2 minutes ago, K-Hod said: It's quite possible that he's just having a poor season this season and Eustace could improve him. Just a thought. Of course. The perfect solution doesn't exist. So we are relying on Eustace's knowledge to source players he believes in and knows can do a job at this time. I doubt he knew much about Gueye or Ohashi. Hence now the insistance on experienced Championship performers. We are better than we think and have proven we are good enough to remain close to the play offs. I don't think Eustace is looking any further ahead than maximising the opportunity presented this season. There is a steely determination within this group. And a brilliant team spirit. Both of which can take you a long way. 1 Quote
