January Transfer window

If you offered me Aasgard and Asante at the start of the window I would be more than happy that it would be a significant improvement to our squad.

Both add pace and physicality to our attack albeit Asante isn’t having the best season at Coventry, but they have been struggling as a whole.

Still left with the same basic problem though, who's going to put the ball in the net?

The best we could ever hope for on that score, is a young striker on a loan,   Essentially the "next/new" Tom Cannon".  Maybe someone like Danns from Liverpool?

But it was never going to be a "sure thing/proven striker"

He's scored against Burnley for west brom that's good enough for me. He'd certainly be an upgrade on gueye based on his time at west brom. He's not had a great time at Coventry but then they have struggled for the most part since he's been there. If that's the sort of market we're shopping in and the price range I'd liken it to a szmodics signing. Little risk with potential to sell on for a decent figure down the line.

You've been dumping Leonard out on loan for weeks. Now threatened with a new signing you want him to play?

Of course. The perfect solution doesn't exist.

So we are relying on Eustace's knowledge to source players he believes in and knows can do a job at this time.

I doubt he knew much about Gueye or Ohashi. Hence now the insistance on experienced Championship performers.

We are better than we think and have proven we are good enough to remain close to the play offs. I don't think Eustace is looking any further ahead than maximising the opportunity presented this season.

There is a steely determination within this group. And a brilliant team spirit. Both of which can take you a long way.

Rather not waste the bulk of our transfer kitty on a man that has the same amount of league goals as Leonard.  I never mentioned loaning him out I just said he's not good enough to be our main forward.

Everyone seems unanimous on Aasgard but there's no suggestion whatsoever we're even interested I'm him is there?

All we can do is create chances. If we sign someone who’s quick and intelligent in his running then Cantwell has the quality to find him. What comes next is not guaranteed at this level with the budget we are working on.

Apologies, I confused you with 99.

Just had a Quick Look at his Coventry stint

he has played as a winger in the main for them in the limited time he has got

I would ignore his Coventry stint he has barely played as a striker for them

he was more through the middle with wba

I don't know anything about Asante but he strikes me as someone who'll just be at best a run of the mill Championship player for the next few seasons rather than the "difference maker" we need this.

I think I'd rather try and get someone exceptional in on loan out of the two.

Not seen much of Asante but if he has pace it could be very useful. Cantwell is a creator, looks frustrated when himself and Gueye are on the pitch together, Looked more interested when Leonard is up top. If we can sign a player who Cantwell can work off/use in behind we will have two new players in my eyes

Totally agree. We at last saw some signs of how our attack would look with an out and out striker. And it was refreshing. It was a shame Leonard didn't score as that was my hope from the Boro game.

Pay a good loan fee for louie barry.  I know its a long shot but he'd be a huge difference maker

Saw on X. Link to an Italian local paper. Roughly translates to say a Blackburn representative was at the Cesena game on Sunday to watch Augustus Kargbo. Game finished 0-0 and he was subbed off.

Half way through the window with a couple of el cheapo cover players signed and some evidence we are trying to do something up front.

Problem is a variant of Groucho Marx "I wouldn't want to join a club that would have me in it."

Supporters are so cheesed off with how the club is run we wouldn't want a player we could reasonably sign.

Jason Roberts type player, fairly quick and physical, terrible finishing.

A loan with an option in case of promotion is probably about the best we can hope for given the Venkys/Waggott millstone we have to work under

Honestly not the type of player you'd want to be saddled with in the Premier League.

I'm abit in the middle on Asante.

Always looked sharp playing against us. He's quick and seems a grafter which is what we want.

Issue is his goal return and also the amount being spent (if happens). I imagine the 1.7m quoted is probably our budget (great if theres more)...Flogging the whole budget on a player, who we probably won't get anymore value back on, is a risk. Also its yet another player where feedback from the current club is poor.
