If we weren't in and around the playoffs right now, I would say re start the protests. But that now would be a disservice to Eustace and the team, to disrupt their efforts at this moment in time.

If they don't want to invest now, and try and get this squad into the playoffs, then fine. But at the end of the season, if it's not Venkys out in whatever way necessary, then I'm afraid we deserve to never go up. For how long are we going to allow these tricksters and scammers to run this club, irrespective of how much money they have invested.. this club and its fans deserve better!

Expand

They've not invested anything. Ever.

Hence our current situation.

Asante - Thomas has pace. We need pace.

He needs confidence and career rebuilding. We have a boss who is good at that.

Venkys can apparently afford him and the link has come early enough in the window to screw up the paperwork and get it corrected.

If we had had him on the pitch in place of Hedges the first half probably wouldn't have been as awful and boring as everyone says it was.

If you read the views of Coventry fans on BTA they're very similar indeed to Plymouth fans on Forshaw. "I'll drive him there", "are we paying them to take him?" Etc etc.

I didn't read much what blues fans said about Dion but presume some similar and Leeds fans have been exactly the same regarding Bamford.

Seems our strategy is to target out of favour players who may embrace being taken under the wing of Eustace and get back to their best. Could work, could be a disaster I suppose.

He does seem to get the best out of a number of players, Brittain being a prime example, he's arguably pushing for our player of the season IMO.

Their tenure has been nothing short of disastrous but what's the monetary debt, £150m? Can't say they've never invested it just hasn't been, on the whole, used well.

And that £150m or so is after having converted some debt in to equity so the investment now is north of £200m

Dolan looks like he has pace - but in reality isn't that quick. It is some form of weird opical illusion - possibly down to his diminutive stature.🤣

Exactly this, his little legs are ticking over that quick it seems like he's quick. Reminds me a little of scrappy doo when is legs are circling over and not actually getting anywhere.

Works hard does the lad but he just isn't a good player going forward.

Given how ineffective Dolan, Hedges, Weimann are out wide, we could really do with signing 2 wide players and rotate with ACD.

Although going forward there may be a decent argument to push Brittain wide right and play Dion at right back.  Wonder if that is what Eustace has in mind.

ACD made a difference last night. He's still quite raw but is so much more effective than the others...Abit like Gueye though, feel ACD performs best off the bench - That's down to inexperience though.

What's the point in Thomas Asante?? No resale value, Gueye is a better target man and possibly a better goal scorer. Just simply not what we need. I'd argue in Gueye we have physicality, in Ohashi we have graft what we don't have is PACE, someone who can run in behind and break lines.

For me, the players we've been linked with that are the types we we need are Kargbo, Matondo & Godo. Direct wide players that can run in behind. That would help big Mac and give him some support, the reality is he's a link up player that will get more assists than goals, so let's make the most of that and get goals from out wide...

We need to be looking for our poor man's versions of Mbuemo & Wissa... Not another big CF.

BTA - I’m not sure if your speaking about the same player but he’s not even 6ft so unsure about the big cf or big target man comments

what he does have is abundance of pace

Fair point... Maybe I'm just not in the know of what type of player he is exactly. If he's got pace then he could be useful I suppose it's just as everyone else has said... We need goals aswell which looking at his recent record, doesn't look good.

No I agree to an extent yes it’s goals were after just wasn’t sure if you genuinely were getting mixed up with another player as he’s not that tall

see how it plays out

all on venkys/recruitment team now

He'll give us another outlet on the counter. Asante is the sort of player we face once in a while and I wonder why his goal-scoring record isn't better. His top level is very very good, but obviously there's some issues with consistency there. Left forward/striker - I think he'd be a useful addition to the squad.

Are people realistically expecting better? Perhaps a talented PL youngster but I can't see us signing anyone with a better pedigree on a permanent transfer.

They've covered losses that were only incurred due to their own very deliberate actions.

That is not investment.

Eustace on BTA;

"I don't think anything is imminent in the next few days, not that I'm aware of," Eustace explained.

"Brandon is another good player at this level. We have been linked with a lot of strikers already from the league. He's someone with good pedigree and someone who has done well over the last few seasons.

"I don't know if there has been a bid. I'm not aware if that's happened and if it has, ok, brilliant."

--------------------

Feel like BTA is gonna happen personally... wouldn't be my pick i'll be honest! However, gotta trust Eustace, he knows much more than I do on such matters.

He states that "nothing is imminent in the next few days" - somewhat worrying given that there are only 18 days left of the window... we don't have days to waste!

Then again - last time he said nothing was imminent, we signed Sanderson and Forshaw in the following 2/3 days... 🤷‍♂️

A lot of fixtures coming up though... and we haven't improved the squad at all. Get a move on!

Find it strange that folk are saying that Asante has "no resale value".

He's just turned 26, at this level you only need to hit a purple patch for a few months and sides higher up the table looking to get over the line might just take a punt at £5m or so.

Who thought Szmodics would have such good resale value when we signed him as a bit of a plodding 26 year old?

Now, I don't know if BTA is the answer to our goalscoring problems, his record doesn't suggest so, but he always looks sharp and pretty quick so he could be a really useful outlet to compliment what we already have.

For what it's worth I dont believe it will happen because I don't think we will pay any kind of fee to get the deal done, where as Stoke won't mess about and just pay what Cov want, and I imagine working under Robins will be attractive to him again.

Agreed

even though we won 3-0 last night it was very evident we need a winger and another striker

Iv stated numerous times about this block being vital and about it being ‘kind on paper’ I’d just like them to give us the best chance

Any time another club comes in for a player we’re linked with it’s game over. Nobody wants to play for the chicken chokers if there’s an alternative. Maybe they’ll want to play for Eustace now but normally it’s “ Thanks, but no thanks “.

True!

I think Eustace and our League position would be enough to make BTA favour a move here, however Stoke could blow us out of the water on wages offered - suppose it'll make for a good marker on what the player is looking for!

When we were, you know, competent we used to take a certain amount of pride in picking up players other teams hadn't managed to get a tune out of and turning them around.

I think that it's pretty telling though that the moment we get linked with someone semi seriously so do a few other championship clubs - I think there are a lot of teams that don't have much money to spend and quite a small pool of realistic signings that they are all competing for. That's usually when you end up paying over the odds or ending up with a Gallagher as your highest wage earner for five seasons.
