BTA would be quality signing for us for the reasons said yesterday. I've seen plenty of him to rated him highly as I do. His Coventry spell doesn't worry me

Sometimes it just doesn't work for a player at a certain club, but why where WBA happy to sell in the summer? Attitude? Or was the fee too good to turn down? I don't know what the fee Cov paid was, but it seemed a weird one to me as I always felt he did well against Rovers when playing for WBA and was one of their better players overall...not that I follow West Brom I might add!

That aside, Stoke are now shopping for a striker, and it will be difficult to compete with them financially.

If he is good enough then yes, get another loan in if you really want but if said player is as good as he is meant to be then I have no problem in jumping in and snagging him before the competition catch on and we are out muscled at the auction

I’d have reservations on that tbh for me whatever budget we have must be spent on players who can help the team now

poku is out until mid feb he will then take a few weeks to get up to speed and then you hope he can make the championship jump

if we were flush then it’s a no brainer but for me we need players ready now or it’s another wasted window and the chance for top 6

Millwall have signed Aaron Connelly. What a weird career he's having... looks a good player, but apparently likes a drink and has a bad attitude.

As with most addictions the bad attitude is a symptom in my opinion. Lad has definitely had his struggles, he needs a calm environment and a support system. So not Millwall.

You are obsess with giving players labels

Neither. More like wait and see. See what he does here.

Jade Jones? Based on what? What him against Everton first time I've seen him live and did nothing 1st half.

Thomas-Asante is a quality player at Championship level

You’re really throwing all your eggs in the Asante basket, plenty of games I have seen him be off mate. I’m going by the moneyball/brentford model for jade jones, all the stats to suggest he would be more useful to us than Asante. Fastest player in league 1 I think? Tall, strong, fast, played good amount of games, young at 22 for resale potential. Sheff Utd /norwich wanting him, don’t see them interested in Asante

Eustace on BTA;

"I don't think anything is imminent in the next few days, not that I'm aware of," Eustace explained.

"Brandon is another good player at this level. We have been linked with a lot of strikers already from the league. He's someone with good pedigree and someone who has done well over the last few seasons.

"I don't know if there has been a bid. I'm not aware if that's happened and if it has, ok, brilliant."

--------------------

Feel like BTA is gonna happen personally... wouldn't be my pick i'll be honest! However, gotta trust Eustace, he knows much more than I do on such matters.

He states that "nothing is imminent in the next few days" - somewhat worrying given that there are only 18 days left of the window... we don't have days to waste!

Then again - last time he said nothing was imminent, we signed Sanderson and Forshaw in the following 2/3 days... 🤷‍♂️

A lot of fixtures coming up though... and we haven't improved the squad at all. Get a move on!

Unless Eustace is being coy that's a very worrying snippet from him.

Doesn't sound like there's actually anything much going on or even if there was , that he doesn't have much input into or control over the same at all.

A quick scan online suggests Thelo Aasgaard is on less than £3k a week at Wigan!

We could triple his wages, he wouldn't even have to move house, and he'd also probably become a regular starter... it just, makes sense.

Obvious issue is the reported £3m fee they want for him. Surely that could be negotiated closer to £2m? Or even less with a player included; Markanday or Garrett for example...

Whatever the case, really hope we're looking at him - he'll be snapped up by a Championship team soon enough.

Wouldn’t be against this signing at all

The club will be needing to flog players in the summer.
I can see us putting Cantwell in the shop window, would get a decent enough fee for him I reckon and I presume he will want to move on (abroad)...Aasgaard would be the perfect replacement.

But yeah we will miss the boat with him like most others we "look" at.

Agreed that someone in the championship will stump up the cash at some point.

Fits the bill of being a real outlet on the left hand side as well, fee might be too much for us.

Poku and Jones both at Peterborough, Darragh MacAnthony won't be letting either go for anything less than he deems them to be worth. That rules us out as we will want to pay with a playground champion Conker, a pack of Match Attax and a piece of used chewing gum.

As I say on Jones before, fans say all he has is pace and no end product

FWIW the chap who works in our corner shop is an avid Baggies fan. Sometimes you just want a pint of milk but it's never that easy with him.....

He mentioned we were interested in BTA and the comment was "so frustrating, he will run his socks off, beat 2 players and then the end result is crap"

So I told him he will fit in perfectly here

Unfortunately, this is the pool of players we are in. Players with consistent end product end up in the top leagues of Europe. At this level, you can occasionally pick up a gem but they never last and you will see that across the Championship teams are filled with players exactly the same. BTA is a good player though. He gets a few goals from out wide and whilst it may not have worked out at Cov for him, it could be very different here

Pace goes a long way at this level.

Look around the championship and you'll see slow wingers with no end product, christ we've got a basket full of them! Pace is a golden ticket in the game these days.

Not saying we should, will or even have any intention of signing, merely that Peterborough are notoriously difficult to deal with as MacAnthony is a very good chairman in terms of getting what he believes is good value for his club.

Will help the likes of Cantwell aswell. Cantwell will thrive on runners, at the moment he's go no movement around so that will damage his performances.

If that's correct it sounds like the absolute last thing we need!

We have enough of those sorts of players already.

The only proviso might be if Dolan were to be sold this window and he was a direct replacement.

Ah I'd take anything people say with a pinch of salt

He got into double figures for goals each season with Baggies. For a man with no end product, playing from the left, 10+ goals is a good return

You'll struggle to find better for the same cost in this league. If we go cost to value then BTA seems a good option

Can we put a bid in for MacAnthony - part exchange the odious MacWaggott?

Cantwell is the Door that needs unlocking. Intelligent running in front of him and he will work his magic. Like I said before, Not many strikers at this level guarantees goals. The more we create, the more likely we are to score

Thankfully I think he'll turn us down to work with Robbins at stoke

Shame - seems odd that a player who is absolutely terrible, who the Cov fans are seemingly willing to “drive him there…” is now being chased by the manager who paid £3m for him last summer?

So, Mark Robins sees something in BTA….who wouldve thought it!? 👀🙈
