keane

tayo

branthwaite

harwood bellis

van hecke

By Tayo did you mean Tosin Adarabioyo?

Absolutely.

Branthwaite was dog shite when he was with us, but he was also just a teenager starting out on his career.

Now what's he meant to be worth?

I actually didn't think he looked that bad, just didn't look ready yet. Ungainly, not sharpened his decision making, and Harwood-Bellis looked much better, but I could see the potential. Felt he may go on to have a Shane Duffy sort of career (minus the being a bellend part). But I'm certainly surprised how far he has come this quickly.

Who would have thought that Branthwaite would be in the England squad after his time at Rovers? He looked like a lower league defender at best in his time with us, whereas Harwood-Bellis looked a class act and the reincarnation of Colin Todd, for those who remember him.

Me. He was 17 and although he was crap you could see he had all the tools of making a top centre back.

Sometimes it just doesn't work for a player at a certain club, but why where WBA happy to sell in the summer? Attitude? Or was the fee too good to turn down? I don't know what the fee Cov paid was, but it seemed a weird one to me as I always felt he did well against Rovers when playing for WBA and was one of their better players overall...not that I follow West Brom I might add!

That aside, Stoke are now shopping for a striker, and it will be difficult to compete with them financially.

Great point. WBA needed to sell to buy I guess.

You’re really throwing all your eggs in the Asante basket, plenty of games I have seen him be off mate. I’m going by the moneyball/brentford model for jade jones, all the stats to suggest he would be more useful to us than Asante. Fastest player in league 1 I think? Tall, strong, fast, played good amount of games, young at 22 for resale potential. Sheff Utd /norwich wanting him, don’t see them interested in Asante

It's about getting playoff place this season and BTA does. Jones is a risk and one I'm unwilling to take. Pace is great but has he got end product? Unsure. Looked very poor against Everton.

I dont get why, apart from that he had that good game against us. Loads of baggage and seldom scores.

He was excellent against us last January.

Lampard might want to sell him to bring in own players hence why he wants to sell

I dont think Sunderland fans would agree.

Although they are struggling up front with Maja and Dike out injured.

The lad that's just scored a hattrick at Old Trafford is the sole reason Sunderland made the Playoffs that year.

Thankfully he's not at West Brom this season.

With West Brom about to appoint Mowbray, I wonder if that stops any potential of agreeing to sign Jed Wallace.

I'm sure Mogga had Wallace lined up for us with the Rothwell money but obviously Venkys ended that.

If it's correct, I'm guessing he rates Wallace so gotta assume he's staying put.

The quote youve replied to was in a totally different conversation about Aaron Connolly.

I would suggest that if you are giving him absolutely no credit for getting a team (I think the season after promotion?) into the play offs then you are possibly beyond the point of being willing to judge him fairly.

He has a job getting West Brom into there this season with the limitations they have especially with injuries up top and hopefully he doesnt as they are around us but good to see him back fit and well and in football potentially.

He has a job getting them there? It's over halfway through the season and they're 1 point outside the top 6 with the same GD as 6th. They might have injuries but they still have a strong squad and the job is half done.

Getting the excuses in early?

WBA have more than a good squad to get a playoff place.

Just checked what Billy Koumetio is up to these days and he's a starting centre back for mid table Dundee in the SPL. What a shit league.

One of the weirdest loan signings we've ever had.

I think it was the Newcastle game he looked brilliant AND an absolute liability in the space of like 10 minutes. Liverpool must have caught him on a good day when scouting him......
