This terrifies me: •    it is likely that the Rao’s will be owners for the foreseeable as one of the owner’s sons is being groomed to be future custodian of the club; this son occasionally attends matches and uses Jack Walker’s box

Maybe the kid take a liking to the club since he attends and when the rains are handed over invests properly. We only have to wait another 10 - 20 years!

I’m not the Venkys. But arguing that you’d prefer to lesser players in early rather than the right players a bit later Is insane.

Whether they actually get them or not, that’s what they’re trying to do.

It's like buying those Fancy trainers on Black Friday. You know there's all good stuff there and it'll all be gone on day one or two, leave it any later and you have to make do with what you find.

I don't want to end up with crap trainers as all the cool kids will laugh at me.

I guessed it was gonna be Burnley...good lad, endearing himself quickly!

Needs better taste than Lynx Africa and Drake though.

I'm concerned he'd get rid of broccoli as much as anything else 🤬

That doesnt necessarily mean we will recruit what we need.

Will Sanderson not be 4th choice? And you need 4 centre backs, its hardly a criticism.

You tell me what and who we need? Like it or not, you've got two million and about 30k a week for wages. Especially if Sigurdsson is staying. And we need a winger and a striker.

Every player that gets mentioned, someone either drags out comments from fans of his previous club, recent stats, injury record, etc.

We aren't getting the finished article that's for sure, so you, we, me are relying on Eustace to find a diamond thst no one else has spotted. Or a player that's lost their way that he can re invigorate or improve.

I trust Eustace. You don't. But I don't know why.

Unless you think he recommended signing Gueye and Ohashi. If so i understand your concerns. But i dont think he identified them. Hence why he now wants proven Championship quality players that he knows can do a job for him. I think Eustace is looking no further than the end of this season. I think he is going to recruit the players now to try and get us in the play offs.

And we are so close we can smell it. And no one likes playing us. And we are getting better. And we are better than we think.

FFS - I’m saying that if you don’t have shit loads of money, then you’re trying to sign the best possible players for the lowest possible price. Which is why lots of business gets done at the end of the window.

If Cannon was sold tomorrow, it would be to a club with considerable funds, so it’s not the same thing.

I don’t know know why you’re struggling so much to see this. I’m not defending Rovers. It may be that we are thoroughly fuckin useless this window. I’m just offering a reason as to why we haven’t signed the forwards we want.

It's ok. You are making sense.

What’s wrong with the Ohashi signing why would you be concerned if Eustace approved his transfer?

There's genuinely nothing wrong with Ohashi and Gueye. THEY. NEED. SERVICE.

Get some quick wingers in the transfer window and they'll both thrive.

Sunderland get 40k crowds, turnover 35 million and only lose 9 million per year. So they have 15 million more income and 8 million less in losses and you are suprised they can spend more than us?

Two years ago Sheffield United had 140 million turnover which fell to 64 million in the Championship. 44 million more income than us due to the parachute payments. And you are suprised they are in a stronger financial position than us?

Plus they are gambling on automatic promotion, which is clearly beyond our capabilities.

What we really need is to make up that shortfall by trading players, bit like when Mowbray used to claim we were copying Brentford. Then we did half of it and the owners stopped us doing the second part which is invest some of the cash in the squad.

Bigger gates count for little when compared to bringing in £40-50 million in sales and spending next to nothing.

We could spend some of that, it isn't beyond our capabilities, it is simply a choice the ownership have made.

I don't believe any of it is motivated by FFP or their legal issues in India. Plain and simply they don't want to spend on something they've zero interest in. The only time they have wanted to is when the manager has gone and put a case to them to do it and they've had odd punts on big outlays. Other than that they have never wanted to spend despite being able to. They didn't pre-FFP, pre-covid or pre-legal issues.

Quite right, but neither will fire us to the Premiership sadly.

We need serious investment in several areas, as our squad is paper thin and we all know the owners have never and will never provide the right funds at the right time.

Venkys Out, nothing else matters.

I know 100% that I would rather have the right ones in the last day of the window than the wrong ones by tomorrow morning.

Can't agree with that at all, in general the  better players get snapped up earlier in the window and by the end you're left with the crap no-one else wants and/or whatever loanees the Premier League Clubs have condescended to make available, who may not play in the positions you want to fill.

I didn't say I'd be concerned. I said I could understand 99 being concerned about future choices if Eustace chose Gueye and Ohashi. Because they have both struggled to score.

This is why he wants proven championship experience at this stage of the season. And I think he's quite not right not to be gambling our chances on the unknown.

They have been feeding off scraps all season. But they aren't as quick as Sammie, or as clinical and they were brought in to replace his goals. And it isn't going to happen.

Not true.

But those great players who do get snapped up early in the window are bought by teams with lots of money.

We wouldn’t have signed Todd Cantwell at the start of last summer. At that point he would’ve bet assessing his options.

In truth, most of the signings (Good or bad) in any window happen in the last few days. That’s not a Rovers thing, it’s a football thing.

Mowbray was a good manager but his time here came to an end. Such is life

I never got the whole "lining his pension fund" argument. If you aren't earning money or 'lining your pension fund' then why the fuck are you going to work? For the love of it? Did people expect Mowbray to work for free because he was in his 50s?

He was dealt a shoddy hand when he took over. A club in terminal decline with the worst employment seen in my time as a Rovers fan (Coyle - not just a poor manager, but a Dingle too "Agent Coyle") and a team that was disjointed, unbalanced and demoralised.

When Mowbray left, we had a number of academy players transition into senior squad members and a list of players who, with the right contract management from above, could have been sold and earned the club a tidy sum of money

We had good times with Mowbray, we had bad times but his integrity was never in question with me. His 'dumbing down of the club' was in poor taste at a time when he was under pressure - for me, that is the negative I take from his time. His comments were at times crass. Other than that, he left the club in a better state than when he found it and really that is all you ask from your manager

I think these are all very good and valid points.

It seems to have been lost somewhat, on some people, that we were absolutely a club in terminal decline.
Right across the club, we were heading in one direction.

TM played a pivotal role in grabbing us by the scruff of the neck and turning that direction around.

Did he have faults? Absolutely - and many.

But lets issue credit where it's due.

his first two seasons i think he was very enthusiastic, after that he seemed to lose a lot of energy and drive, how many times did we see him sat on the bench looking like he`d rather be somewhere else

Has anyone seen the latest episode of ‘Tippy tappy football’?

Ince sent scouts to watch Barcelona v Udinese in a pre-season friendly. Carlos Villanueva was the target, the scouts came back and recommended a 19yr old Alexis Sanchez, the rest is history….
