January Transfer window

Recommended Posts

Its the same every window. X other clubs havent signed anyone, which players that have gone elsewhere would you want, have patience FFS, total faith. Yet more often than not, our windows conclude with minimal spending and a sense of frustration that we havent got what we needed.

If you have owners willing to invest sums that would tempt other clubs into selling their better players then you can get good players in early .

But it isn't Waggotts or the recruitment teams fault that our budget will be so pitiful we will be relying on teams and players doing us favours by taking less money to get minutes here.

Take the Bamford and Schlupp supposed interest if truth to it those players will be on contracts that far exceed what we pay our players, Bamford rumored to be on 70 grand a week and Schlupp is a Premier league player who cost Palace £11 million he will be on very good money.IF those are the players the manager has asked for and the club feel there is a chance of them happening then I suppose you have to try get his preferred players in

Even Asante ,we could very well have a bid in but it won't be a bid so good Coventry will be pushing him out the door they will be taking a loss, why streghthen us before we play them Tuesday.

Not saying any of those players would be my preferred targets but history tells us the budget won't be ambitious and the club will be relying on players taking wage reductions or clubs paying them off for us to get them in.Quick deals don't happen in those circumstances

May I ask why you have faith? So faith in there being enough money to suitably strengthen and Gestede heading our recruitment to get a goalscorer and some pace within that.

John Eustace.

Have I said we will spend but from the links with Thomas-Asante maybe there is money

You keep saying this but obviously none of us know who they are. No one has said I wish we signed them.

So show patience and We see who we sign in 17 days.

Still feel like the best player we could realistically get is Poku. Injury or not, if we can get another attacking player on loan and spend on him... Could give us a real boost in March and kick us on.

I don't know how good or bad the signings other Clubs have made are.You almost without exception. always deem players who are signed by other Clubs to be shit.

Ok then

All I know is that those other Clubs have identified their targets, got themselves organised and made their move early. For once, just once I wish we'd done the same.

We have identified our targets.

Have you EVER heard a manager say - "Yeah, well, I hope we don't sign anyone until right at the end of the window,  when we can be involved in a mad scrum with a whole load of other Clubs to try and  bring a few players in at the last minute by which time the selling Clubs will know full well we're desperate".

No. They all say.

"I'd like us to get our business sorted early and that will also  help the rest of the team during that period as well"

Just because it's often done the other way in practice doesn't make it right.

Standard line from management who knows major transfers most likely in the second half of the window. I would just have a week in January for transfers

But he isnt the one setting the budget and he isnt solely responsible for identifying players.

And history suggests more often than not we are left disappointed.

Let's wait 17 days and we see 🔵

Didn't you say last Jan that we are keeping the Wharton powder dry for the summer transfer window? What happened to the dry powder?

Don't understand why you're just blindly ignoring the track record and being so adamant about it.
