Popular Post den Posted January 18 Popular Post Posted January 18 (edited) Teams hoping for promotion can go to places like Oxford and lose, that’s for sure. Teams with hopes of promotion tend not to go and put in abysmal performances though. We’re into the new year and it’s so blindingly obvious that the current group of players need help. We have no ability to cover for injuries or fatigue. What these lads are being asked to do is the impossible and I have absolutely no doubt that they know it also. It’s not fair on them. They’re being let down by the owners and by Waggott. Stop giving us the bullshit Waggott. There’s money available you tell everyone, well prove it and give the manager the help he needs. Im not convinced from that reaction, we need 4 in, maybe 5. Striker, winger, left back, central midfielder for sure. We really could do with 2 wingers as none of the current lot are up to it. If anyones comes for Sigurdsson, Hedges or Dolan, welcome and take it. 4/5 signings? 😁 need a striker, winger and left back. Travis is almost back plus we have Forshaw, JRC and Buckley(who was our best player today) 13 minutes ago, BankEnd Rover said: Just heard rumours of Tronstad out for 6 weeks...Fuck! not even been scan yet or an assessment done till Tomorrow as Eustace says post match Just now, M_B said: Don't worry, he's shite, Coventry forum said so, we'll be fine. exactly. BTA is good championship striker and would be good signing here. I'm surprised by some people reaction to us potential signing him being against it 1 1 Quote

As a player, and a former player that’s now a physio, you know, what a hamstring injury looks like. If you feel it, it’s too late, there are no ‘precautions’ with it, it’s either pulled or it’s not. 2 Quote

Buckley's first decent game in years, Forshaw not up to it and JRC is also needed as right back cover and hasnt really convinced in midfield. If its just warm bodies, why do we need a winger when we have Sigurdsson, Hedges, Dolan, ACD and Weimann? Why do we need a striker when we have Gueye, Leonard and Ohashi. 3 Quote

Hes never shown any sort of real quality in that position. He had a spell under your mate Mowbray further forward when he did well then has struggled ever since. Its the word "rely" that I cant get my head around. Quote

We do seem to have more options for the 3 behind the striker, so I could possibly see Cantwell dropping back, probably alongside Buckley on Tuesday. You could then play Dolan or Weimann as the 10 (though not sure if Weimann was struggling as well with an injury) Edited January 18 by Tugayisgod Quote
Hasta Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Buckley / JRC couldn’t get a look in for a midfield start when Baker was here. We are now relying on one of them or a poor Forshaw for the foreseeable future. Therefore we are clearly weaker in central midfield than we were in December. A central midfielder has just jumped alongside a striker as our most desperate requirement. 1 Quote
BigHoz Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Buckley / jrc pull the wool over to many people’s eyes, there rubbish. Consistency makes a good player, 1 in 10 doesn’t. 2 Quote
MB Rover Posted January 18 Posted January 18 JRC wouldn’t get in oxfords midfield yet he’s the answer to our midfield dilemma 🤣🤣🤣 dog shit 1 Quote

JCRovers Posted January 18 Posted January 18 F*ing hell. Before the game, we were in desperate need of attacking reinforcements. With the loss of Tronstad for (possibly) several weeks, we now need a holding midfielder who can recover the ball. Huge blow to miss both Travis and Tronstad for the next few games. For all his playmaker abilities, Buckley is not good enough when out of possession. He constanly dives into tackles instead of tracking back properly, causing unnecessary fouls in dangerous positions. To people calling for JRC to be introduced into central midfield; first of all, his vision/football intelligence is horrific, anyone remembering his mistakes against Blackpool in the cup and Sheffield Utd. in the league will know this. His best position is on the right flank, where his lack of vision won't get exposed as much. Forshaw is past it, why would Plymouth otherwise happily agree to terminate his contract sitting at the bottom of the table? Before we lacked pace to be a threat on the counter and now we lack proper shielding of our center backs when defending. Don't be surprised if the next couple of games will be a disaster result-wise if signings aren't made immediately. Quote

For all the noise about him I’m yet to see him come close to running a game for us. Dolan, Buckley and JRC get endless stick (warranted) for being 1 in 5 players, Cantwell is roughly 1 in 8 over the season and getting paid a hell of a lot more than those 3 Quote
