Exactly, why did we, surely we must of known O'brien was coming available...If we bring O'Brien in, what a fucking waste of time Foreshaw was.

Foreshaw was always a waste of time. The availability of someone far better doesn't change that.

He should never have been brought in. Full stop.

So from full time at 5pm to first thing this morning we’re after O’Brien who before the match wouldn’t have been seen as needed or a priority

but we are so poor going forward have little to no pace or a number 9 and not a word about these priority positions

if you didn’t laugh you would cry

Everyone with 2 brain cells knew a midfielder was still a priority. Forshaw’s legs have gone and Buckley is shit, and we weren’t falling for the whole ‘it’s what Eustace wants!’ and ‘let’s see how he plays for us!’ bollocks from some on here. If Forshaw really is ‘what Eustace wants’ then I’d ban him from involvement in transfers.

Saw O'brien run the game against us at Huddersfield on his own, he would be the best midfielder at the club, and is the kind of quality we need. Eustace said he wanted 2 or 3 quality additions, well here's one of them.

Let the club worry about the money, we won't have to have a whip round on here and pay it.

I’d carry the O’Brien that was outstanding for Huddersfield to Ewood on my back but what has he done since then ? Genuine question. Didn’t he go to the USA and then back to ‘Boro. ?  His game seems to have gone very quiet. Maybe that was his “ Brererton “ season ?

He will improve the squad yes but if tronstad injury isn't as bad as feared, who plays CDM in a few weeks? I don't fancy stumping up for a player who demands 40k a week when there are clear signs that we need 2/3 attackers.

Three hamstrings gone over a short period of time (Pickering, Trav and Tron) is a sign of things to come if we don’t strengthen multiple areas. We have worn down our starters and they need help.

You’re suggesting a luxury problem we’re not used to having, and one I for one don’t mind is having at all.

I want O'brien! We need him and need him now...Do you really think we're going to bring in 1/2 quality additions uptop, then bring in O'brien ( on high wages) just as we've brought in Foreshaw? We then need an LB...Injuries happen and normal clubs would bring in additions but that just won't happen here, so we need to be realistic.

Unless Forest are happy to let O'Brien leave on the cheap then there is no way he comes..Portsmouths 5th choice CM will be more likely an option.

I don’t think O’Brien will happen regardless. But the clock is ticking and we need bodies in. Our situation has changed for the worse since yesterday, and we need to adapt.

Pickering did his knee, but I take your point. Fatigue would probably have a bearing on the injury.

There has been way too many games in this last 4 to 6 weeks given the pace of the modern game. The five sub rule hadn’t helped in that respect. Players who have played 60 to 70 minutes are having to go up against fresh players all over the pitch. Of course that suits clubs with big squads that can rest players.

Nixon is clearly taking the piss with the O'Brien rumour.

We signed a midfielder not fit for purpose purely because he is as cheap as possible. To then a week or two sign someone like O'Brien would show why adopting such an approach wasnt wise, and any meagre resources put into that Forshaw deal are wasted ones.

At £40k a week with Forest wanting as much as they can, it would be one that we presumably wait until deadline day even if there was interest to go down the route of whatever we can offer is better than nothing. If indeed O'Brien would entertain the idea considering we have ruined his career really. He had an underwhelming spell at Boro on loan between a couple spells in the MLS and seemingly isnt at the levels he was previously.

It wont happen.

The drop off in form since his days at Hudds concerns me. I’d give him a miss to be honest. We have more urgent needs further forward.

I am by no means defending Rovers on this because they well and truly effed up the O'Brien deal 2 years ago and embarrassingly so, but 'ruined his career' is a bit much IMO. I'd argue that going to Forest in the first place was a poor career move for him, given they were signing just about anything that moved that summer. He then had the opportunity on loan at Boro and didn't end up signing their permanently, so I'm assuming he didn't do well enough. Yes the mental side of the Rovers failed move may have effected him, but he's had chances elsewhere.

That aside, I'd take him over Forshaw in a heartbeat. We needed a CM regardless of losing Baker, so logically as Forshaw is Baker's replacement we still do need a CM, even more so with Tronstad going off yesterday. Just a shame logic is rarely used at Rovers!
