How do you know that Eustace wants all of the players to stay? You have just made that up.

look at comments made about Dolan, Hedges(being offered reported in the LT recently which you slammed f memory serves me right) and Sigurdsson

But even so, you clearly cant fathom that yes, Eustace should have final say. But that doesnt mean that people have to agree with and justify every decision he makes.

so you don't agree even tho you want Eustace to have the final say and he wants to keep them. ok clear enough that.

Football has moved on from the single manager mood when he decided everything. Football clubs have structures and process in place for transfers, etc

I reckon if he was told he could have a couple of extra signings but he would have to sacrifice some of the squad players, he would snap your hand off.

more guesswork on your part cos you want rid and don't rate them.

It isn't guesswork.

If Stoke came in tomorrow morning and said to the club you can have Lewis Baker back but we want Buckley in return what do you think Eustace would say?

I'd presume he would ask for Baker back due to the fact he put his trust in him to start games and left Buckley and Jrc on the bench

You dont know that he wants to keep them or not. No one does.

He isnt going to come out and say about any player that he wants them to go. McFadzean is going and he has waxed lyrical about him despite allowing him to play a minute all season. He didnt play Sigurdsson earlier in the season when we had very limited attackers, he has only played Buckley since he had no other option, he clearly doesnt rate every player. In the media hes obviously going to big everyone up to keep everyone happy, basic man management.

I dont get why you think that if you want the manager to have the final say, it means you have to agree with every single decision he makes.

Will Eustace try to get Baker in? He's out of contract in the summer so would be cheap. Would Baker come?

Probably not.Not if Travis and Tronstad are still here Baker will probably look for a club with more of a chance of starting

We should be able to afford and attract better than Baker if they spent a few quid anyway (which they wont) and come summer we will down grade again

his public comments suggest he does.

we have a head coach not a manager. Eustace picks targets of a shortlist of 3 to 5 players.

every single decision made Eustace? back to this BS again RF99 cos I won't agree with you. I have been very clear I would re-sign Dolan and Hedges to new contracts, you want rid, that's fine, that's your opinion, do we need to keep going over this each week

I wouldn’t be against Baker coming back on a free in the summer .. ok i am not suggesting he was a great player and signing but it think he cemented himself as 3rd choice CM in front of JRC and Buckley and I would much rather have him than Forshaw 🙄

I talk about it last week https://www.brfcs.com/forums/topic/37294-january-transfer-window/?do=findComment&comment=2670496

plus as massive Football manager player I know the rules Mike

My mistake, I forgot that a computer game is a higher authority of the rules of football than the actual rule-writers themselves. How silly of me.

I'm away from this board for months but whenever I return I find that Chaddy still knows more about football than the rest of you put together.

Anyway, have I missed any news of any actual potential signings?

We're signing who chaddy thinks is best

Club's transfer record over the past few years (for anyone interested):

Season 18/19
Winter transfer expenditure: £ 7 million (Brereton Diaz transfer made permanent)
Total transfer expenditure/loss: £ 8 million

The likes of Brereton Diaz, Rothwell and Armstrong were brought in during our first year back in the Championship.

Season 19/20
Winter transfer expenditure: £ 0
Total transfer expenditure/loss: £ 2,6 million

Gallagher was signed on a permanent basis. Raya were sold to Brentford.

Season 20/21
Winter transfer expenditure: £ 625 K (Pickering)
Total transfer expenditure/loss: £ 1,5 million

Pickering, Kaminski and Pears arrived. Danny Graham departed on a free transfer.

Season 21/22
Winter transfer expenditure: £ 650 K (Markanday, Hedges)
Total transfer income/profit: £ 13 million

Markanday, Edun and Hedges arrived. Armstrong were sold to Southampton.

Season 22/23
Winter transfer expenditure: £ 0 (Sorba Thomas arrived on loan)
Total transfer expenditure/loss: £ 4 million

Szmodics, Brittain, Hyam arrived. Contract mismanagement/failure to sell for a profit leading to Rothwell,
Nyambe and Lenihan all leaving on a free transfer.

Season 23/24
Winter transfer expenditure: £ 400 K (O'Riordan)
Total transfer income/profit: £ 21 million

Wahlstedt, O'Riordan arrived. A. Wharton, Kaminski and Phillips all sold to PL clubs.
Contract mismanagement/failure to sell for a profit leading to Brereton Diaz leaving on a free transfer.

Season 24/25
Winter transfer expenditure (so far): £ 0
Total transfer income/profit (so far): £ 8 million

Gueye, Ohashi, Cantwell and Toth arriving. Szmodics, Gallagher and Wahlstedt sold.
Contract mismanagement/failure to sell for a profit leading to (presumably) Dolan leaving on a free transfer in the summer.

Total transfer income/profit over the past seven seasons: £ 25,9 million

The club has failed to recover transfer income/made a loss on the following players: Nyambe, Rothwell, Lenihan,
Dack (albeit unlucky due to knee injuries), Gallagher, Brereton Diaz, Dolan (?)

Failure sending in paperwork on time (done on purpose?) has led the club to miss out on the following players: Lewis O'Brien, Duncan McGuire

The club has made a substantial profit on the following players: Armstrong, A. Wharton (academy product), Szmodics

Worth noting that the club has not spent over £ 1 million on transfer fees during a single winter transfer window since season 18/19.

Given these numbers, don't expect the club to make any substantial signings during this window even though Szmodics were sold earlier in the season. We will probably look for a cheap loan or enter panic mode with a last-minute transfer for some unknown player who's made available on deadline day (see: Telalovic).

I admire your work but fucking hell that's depressing.

We generated £37.5m gross in player sales (without the Armstrong sale).

(Raya £4 million add on included).

  • Adam Wharton - £17.4m
  • Thomas Kaminski £2.4m
  • Ashley Philips £1.9m
  • Nail Ennis £485k
  • Sam Szmodics - £8.9m
  • Sam Gallagher - £1.49m
  • Wahlstedt - £830,000

The money spent is a complete and utter disgrace. Embarrassing stuff.

I seemingly hate the situation as much as you do, but that list of incoming money should likely be put next to a continuous wage to turnover ratio for the same period.

Then look at a similar period where we didn’t sell players and look at the share allotments from the owners.

See.. as much as it pains me to say it, you can’t tell a story from one point of view (well other than wonder years..!)

PS Hope you’re well @gumboots long time no hear from

I find the comments on O Brien and the loan slightly harsh if you look at the figures and take the 40000k and times it by 26 weeks which results over 1m just on wages without counting agent fee and signature fee even if we pay half the salary paying 1m on a loan player just silly waste of money get me Lewis Baker back
