Which is why a move for Aasgaard makes so much sense if the reported £2.5m fee is true , yes it means it costs Venkys 5m but potentially he could be worth 15-20m after a good season or 2 in the championship

Yep correct. And they appeared to understand that when they sanctioned signings like Armstrong and Diaz for reasonable amounts of money knowing they were likely to grow in value.

That plan has clearly been abandoned. I could almost understand that if it was their personal cash they were being asked to put up to pay for such signings but it isn't - it is club money received from selling club assets that would need spending.

I could also understand if it was a decision taken with a view to cutting all input into the club and getting out at minimal expense but that's clearly not the case.

So the idiots are only causing more damage - stopping us getting promotion, depriving us of future assets and ensuring that their tab is going to be back at an 8 figure sum every year once the sales dry up. Morons.

Or he keeps losing possession. Cantwell being poor isn't just down to the players around him .I expected much better

The players around him didn't miss the easy chance v Hull

Yeah his stats on retaining the ball must be very poor and he has very few impactful attacking contributions.

But the way football is player get bought on the basis of very recent form. 10 good games is enough to generate interest. If he has a strong run in everything changes.

Sorba Thomas heading to hull by the looks of things. He didn't pull up many trees but he certainly has attributes we lack.

He was awful at Ewood. For someone who was reputedly a good crosser of the ball he couldn’t even land a corner. I also heard he wasn’t popular with the other players.

We should aim a lot higher than that. One-dimensional but puts a decent cross in, but no better than Brittain does.

I thought he was really, really poor for us. Surprisingly so.

Still I'm jealous that everyone else is signing players and we're keeping our powder dry.

Even tugay would struggle to make an impact in this team

Well Brittain, Travis and Tronstad have and Tugay is light years ahead of those.

Cantwell could do a lot more completely irrespective of other players like hold onto the ball, complete simple passes, beat defenders, anticipate where the ball will be in the final third and finish chances.

I'm more referring to the final third.  We have no quality up front

He clearly has an attitude problem and comes across, I think, quite arrogant. However he was quick and a quite powerful runner...Better than what we have personally.

I never realised how slow he is.

Yeah he's not the quickest, but it's very much exacerbated by a bad habit of often slowing down the ball down to walking pace, then trying to beat a defender with tricks that most often don't come off. He's a player who would really benefit from simplifying his game.

At the other end he also tries to play one touch on difficult balls into him way too much when the chances of succeeding are really low.

He just needs to play simple two touch and focus on running into good forward positions in space.

And stop spinning round on the half way line...

I've said this all along re Cantwell and glad people are catching on, he drops deep because teams know he won't hurt them there. They let him play, take his 47 touches, slow the ball down while they get set and watch Rovers play the ball around in front of them. If you compare how quickly Travis/Tronstad transfer the ball forward it's night and day, they play 1 and 2 touch, and orient their body in a way that allows them to try to play forward as much as possible, Cantwells' first first touch is invariably backwards, then requiring additional touches to turn and play forward slowing the game down

He likes to drag fouls and sometimes it's necessary to slow play down and get our team higher up on the pitch. But he also becomes impatient and drops way too deep and into territory where Trav & Tron operate.

Cantwell has said himself he sometimes over-complicates things and he not always pulls it off, but I think he's an asset and involved in most of our attacking play. We defend so deep at times and were outplayed by Oxford most recently, so I think we have to come to terms with the squad we have and its current limitations.

There's a lack of people willing to run in behind.

We've missed ohashi in that respect.

With all our current forward players, with the possible exception of Leonard, their first movement is towards the ball. None of them move away from the ball and into space behind our opponents defence.

I've no problem with slowing the game down when needed, however I don't think slowing it down is through choice with TC it's through habit and/or deficiencies in his overall technique. Whilst he looks a very competent technical player he is rarely able to receive and play without needing correcting touches, it's not that he doesn't have the quality it's because he's a terrible habit of his body orientation meaning he receives the ball with closed shoulders, taking the ball backwards or inside and needs then to take extra touches to get out of his feel. Compare to Travis and Tronstad who play back foot at every opportunity due their body positioning ultimately being much better. The problem is also compounded by TC dropping into areas he's not needed and asking/receiving the ball with his back to play thus needing additional touches.

Surely if Sheffield United end up with BBD and Cannon then one of their forwards would become available. I’ve zero interest in Brewster but could we possibly look to bring in Tyreese Campbell or even better Kiefer Moore. Moore would definitely improve our starting line up. They can only register 25 players anyway can’t they Chadster 😄

Can't see Moore being available given they just signed in the summer. BBD will played wide left. Brewster and Ryan One will likely be available.

Yes they can only 25 players as are the rules.

Few posters on 'X' again this morning linking us with a loan move for Danns. Preston & Stoke linked too. Looks like this is coming from Liverpool's end too so maybe formal interest gone in?

I'd be absolutely delighted to bring him here. Liverpool fans reluctant to see him go and really rate him.

I've mentioned 3 very good loans there that would massively increase our chances of promotion to the Premier League.

Most of the Clubs that go up do so by loaning top players from higher up, who they wouldn't be able to afford to sign permanently.

4 months of wage contributions, for a couple of top players, isn't going to spaff away £40m.

I would sign Brandon Thomas-Asante for £2m from Coventry, Tyler Goodrham for £1.5m from Oxford and  Josh Wilson-Esbrand on loan from Man City
