Thomas-Asante started and scored which gives Coventry more leverage. And I doubt Oxford would be willing with a 21 year old starting winger for that little. Quote

I might be wrong here as haven't been watching as much footie outside of the Rovers lately, but doesn't Asante predominantly play on the left hand side of a 3 behind a central striker? Quote

Popular Post StHelensRover Posted January 21 Popular Post Posted January 21 Reading through the Cantwell chat in here and across the board. I think Cantwell's form has dipped since Yuki has been out of the side and I think the two are maybe linked. I wonder whether the reason Cantwell has looked off it is because he has much better footballing brain than those around him. So often he either plays, wants to play, or wants to receive the ball at the right time but the players around him don't have the nouse and experience to link up with him effectively. I think he's then sulking a bit which is down to frustration rather than ability (not excusing that btw). Leonard - inexperienced Gueye - enigma, but doesn't have a football brain, first touch horrendous Weimann - experienced but too slow Dolan - too slow, doesn't have a footballing brain, first touch usually awful Yuki looks like he understands where to be and what to do in the final third. Cantwell is supposed to be the conductor of the orchestra, but we've currently got a load of tin whistles up top that he can't work with 18 Quote

Cantwell is supposed to be the conductor of the orchestra, but we've currently got a load of tin whistles up top that he can't work with he's been doing it all season, for all the noise and bluster about him his performances were distinctly average at the start of the season, he had a good game against Leeds at home but outside of that and 1 or 2 others his performances have been forgettable. If you compare him to other creators we've had they run games regardless of who is around them. I get that as a 'marquee' big name signing people want him to do well, as do I but the fact is in terms of what we've invested in wages we're getting very little return and to attribute his lack of form/quality/decision making to others is unfair on those other players. I look at the amount of games we've lost 1-0, tight games that need a spark of quality from your playmaker, someone to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and go win it, Cantwell isn't doing that and ultimately thats what he's getting paid for. 2 Quote

We need genuine pace out wide. Can play either side and looks quicker than Cantwell and more clinical in front of goal. I think he'd displace Cantwell. He's also a million times better than Hedges or Dolan. 1 Quote

Not exactly going to hit the ground running (appreciate you're just the messenger) Quote

Wife's a Latics season ticket holder and being from the town I've watched quite a bit. Difference between the two is Aasgaard is capable of creating a bit of magic himself and scores bags full. Faster and more powerful than Cantwell. He is such a class above L1. Very surprised nobody has signed him yet. 22 with so many first team matches is v good and the type of player who could be worth double almost immediately if he slots back into the Championship. For those reasons we 100% wont sign him. 11 Quote

ben_the_beast Posted January 21 Posted January 21 I actually think Aasgaard and Cantwell being similar types of players could easily benefit the both of them. Class players want others on their wave length. At the same time, it's easy for the opposition to nullify Cantwell. It's not as though they need to worry about Ryan Hedges doing a pirouette past a couple of players. Cantwell needs help badly. 1 Quote

I would have preferred him around for the run in but thanks to Venkys we clearly need everyone off the wage bill to save up enough to bring in a couple of loans on deadline day. 4 Quote

I imagine his wages have gone towards Forshaw's. I'd have kept McFadzean. Quote
