January Transfer window

Reading the comments on Cantwell and agree with most. Definitely needs to do more. Has the ability, doesn’t lack physicality has one suggested. I just think he lacks football intelligence in his running to go with his ability. Doesn’t work to find the holes or break the lines with his runs. Proved he can pass the ball but lacks once again intelligent running from our front men. Looks more up for it with Leonard up top than Gueye

Nah it's very simple... He doesn't get told to stay high up the pitch. He doesn't get any assists or goals because he simply doesn't play in or around the opponents 18 yard box enough and starts wandering around the pitch.

No doubt somebody will correct me if I.m wrong but at this time last season weren’t we on the same number of games and points ? Then we stayed in the league hanging on by our finger nails.  6 games that were considered as winnable, so far we’ve won one and lost one.

JDT's first season we were on 42pts after 27 games.  32 pts from 27 in his second season.

Where has all this anger and outrage come from on our January transfer policy? Its loans loans loans and they don't happen until the Premiership clubs say they happen.

You can't buy players with nothing more than good will and some magic beans!

Agreed Neal, and I’d say it’s because he has to!

The suggestion from Nixon (I know) is that they would only consider going once they'd returned us from whence we came I.e. The Premier League.

Not easy to do when you're selling your best players and spending nothing on replacements.

Someone please send them a fax stating Rovers have been promoted. They are that far removed from what is going on at the club they will probably believe it.

I will wager that we haven't agreed a deal, or even close to one.

Or Pasha was telling bare faced lies!

He could have been but what has he to gain by it. If he has deliberately misled people surely he knew it would come back and bite him.

Think people are being proper harsh on Cantwell. He is quite clearly our best attacking player and with him on the pitch I always think we have a chance of nicking a goal, which is so often our game plan.

The struggle for him is the players he is playing with in those final 3rds arnt quite on his level.

Bradley Dack was much better and so was Sammie

We have had some good attackers over the past few years - stretching back to Rhodes - and so a below average one sticks out like a sore thumb imo

Cantwell is the sort of player who relies on people around him as well. At the moment he is having to come really deep to get on the ball. It isn’t playing to his strengths at all. He needs pace either side of him and a forward to bounce off. We are three players short of seeing his full potential for me

The quality of the striker will determine our season. If we dont get that quality in we wont get the playoffs.

If you're still running a combination of Dolan, Hedges, ACD and Weimann out wide you could loan in Mbappe and he'd struggle.

Thoams-Asante played for Coventry in their last game - he's not coming.

To be honest that doesn’t mean much szmodics played a meaningless league cup game days before leaving

Yes, WE were the sellers, something we've become experts at, and there was an interested buyer.

The only way we'd get Asante-Thomas is if he was surplus to requirements.

So as there've been no net incomings this window and quite to the contrary we've seemingly been running round trying to get a player on 2k p.w. off the pay roll looks like either:

a) Waggott didn't request the January funding it was stated he was going to

or

b) He did ask, but whatever he asked for wasn't sufficient to bring in the targets we were after

or

c) He did ask but was refused either in full or in part.

i would`nt be surprised if jordan rhodes turned up later this week,on a short term deal ,he`s not been playing much for blackpool,it`s the height of our ambition to sign players at the end of their careers and he`ll be cheap

at this doom and gloom...i'll welcome rhodes...hell i'll even welcome MGP at 40 y/o

I suspect the carrier pigeon delivering our bid proposal was mysteriously shot down somewhere over Stoke-on-Trent.

I was told that Pasha was telling people in the lounges against Portsmouth that Asante-Thomas was having a medical last Friday. If it's true (and I have no reason to doubt my friends word) then why didn't it happen? My guess is the Punekars wouldn't sign it off.

It must be highly doubtful we ever put in a bid at all given the lack of corroboration from anywhere on the matter.

Similarly it would have been picked up by various outlets if the player was over having or due to have a medical but it clearly never happened.

That sounds very much like a figment of Pasha's imagination.

Il go with C

Venkys have been here long enough to know themselves that money needs putting towards the squad

They will also be well aware of how much we have brought in in the transfer market and how little we have spent

And surely they know how little cash they have sent over in comparison to other years

If the owners wanted to spend they would do.

Eustace confirmed yesterday we had bid for a player

Only cash bid that has been hinted in the media has been Asante, it might not be him but best bet it is at the moment

I’m not sure. I think he’s a decent player in our team but his reputation has him being overrated. He hasn’t got the midfielders eye for goal that Dack had, he hasn’t got Berkovic’s vision and he hasn’t got Dunnys ability to go past a man - all players from past Rovers promotion sides.

In the context of our starting 11 he’s good, but it’s not like he’s on a different planet to the rest. Not like Wharton was. Problem is i think that is what some people expected when he arrived hence the harsh criticism.
