What's worrying me as much as the lack of incomings is the absence of any rumblings about player contracts. Has any first-team player extended since Broughton left?

No.

No first team squad player's contract has been renewed since Adam Wharton in December 2023.

One of the worst examples, IMO, of lost fans was last season when sporadic "Venky's out" chants broke out and some in the Riverside turned in bafflement towards others and said "eh, what's that all about?" and "eh, where's that come from?".

WTF do you think it's about? What have you been watching for the last 15 years?

Anybody still asking those questions deserves everything they are seeing right now.

Absolutely agree.

As I expected, the people who sit behind me are too stupid to see the connection between our usual drop off in form and the disgraceful lack of investment.

Alas, the way it's going, these will be the only type of fans in the ground before too long.

As all the empty seats last night illustrated, most people have simply had enough and given up.

While I'm not complaining about this in particular, the fact that we're still sitting in 6th is blinding many.

We're in relegation form and had Eustace not put together the staggering run last year a lot more eyes would be opened - though I fear people would be calling for his sacking as opposed to those above him.

I'll admit to not being a fan of his last season but it's incredibly clear how well he's done with as poor a squad as there is in the division and little to no investment.

Watch the tone change as we slip through midtable.

Same goes with how we are perceived outside of the club by other clubs and fans....

If it were to kick off again now with protests they would all shrug and say what's the issue, you sit 6th.

Regarding players contracts etc, perhaps they are preparing to sell....we can but dream.

Entirely your prerogative.

Five points from seven games since Travis has been out and Tronstad played in six of them.

Travis has been immense this season too. Dolan has his moments but shouldn't be a starter in a team that's top ten in the Championship. Same goes for Hedges and ACD imo.

You have no evidence to support the suggestion we would have claimed more points if it had been Tronstad out rather than Travis.

This isn't a dig at Travis but he has been a regular and starting games during death spirals himself under previous managers

The two of them have worked tremendously as a pair throughout this season.

Yes, but the type of people I'm talking about will vent at Eustace, not Venkys, Suhail or Waggott.

Already seen a few moans on Facebook today by the clueless being critical towards Eustace ,and suggesting the poor forn  isn't only down to injuries but due to Eustace not being flexible enough with his tactics

Then multiple other posts blaming ffp/our  small crowds for us not spending any money in the market

It really is worrying, taps have been completely turned off and it's clear as day we're getting no additional funding for Jan

I reckon the cunts sit down with the fat cunt & shadow cunt at the start of each year to tell them the budget and that absolutely nothing changes that - including 30m+ worth of player sales

So people (previously) on the ground with any football nous (Broughton) go and try and get players in that will help us for a promotion push - McGuire, O'Brien - but this likely sits outside of the previously agreed budget and so the plug is pulled last minute, probably by a Venky stooge.

Jan 2025 and we now have no one on site that has any real capability for a successful transfer window, nor is going to bite the hand that feeds them, so they won't even try and go outside of any previously agreed budget, which means we're bargain basement shopping. Also I imagine very few clubs take us seriously after the last few January debacles won't be helping.

15 years of gross mismanagement and it utterly fucking disgusts me

The thing is when you even play one with one of the players we have as back up, so say Buckley or inevitably Forshaw. They will drag Tronstad or Travis down with them.

I'm saying they shouldn't be starters.

Shouldnt be at the club.

Apart from the bit where you allege Broughton had nous I entirely agree. Great post.

(After the permanent deal for Mcguire was pulled he did negotiate a cracking loan deal with an option to purchase for about £7m though)
