January Transfer window

Latest LT article, quote from Eustace; “Favourites for relegation, small squad, small budget and look where we are in the league."

He's definitely being told to push that narrative - always the case once the fans start getting on the backs of the Owners, Waggott and Suhail.

We brought in over £40m in player sales, if 25% of that was invested back into the squad;

  • We wouldn't be favourites for relegation.
  • We wouldn't have a small squad.
  • We wouldn't have a small budget.
  • We'd probably be in an even better league position, with playoffs likely nailed on.

They're using Eustace as the face of their excuses, since they know the fans like and support him. What they should do is show the man some respect, realise the miracle he's managed to perform, and back him.

Elliott Jackson confirming talks with Kargbo. Clearly not what the manager wants having repeated that he wants Championship experience so @chaddyrovers you might struggle to say otherwise.

Track record hardly says ready for a Championship play off push. All very underwhelming

I'm pretty sure neither Hedges or Dolan could do half of this:

We need players to hit the ground running. Like you said, it could be 4/5 weeks before he gets up to speed. I imagine he'll be on the bench for the first few games.

He can make an impact from the bench at least.

Not enthused about Kargbo as our striker signing. Doesn't have a particularly great goalscoring record so would just be another body.

Whilst you are correct about his record, neither did Armstrong, BBD or Szmodics. The last time we signed a striker with a proven scoring record I think was Rhodes? And we're not spending anything like that fee these days

I think you all have to accept that we've blown the season. I'd love them to actually sign players permanently - we need more assets.

I fear they're going to loan players in and piss more money away, leaving us fucked in the summer.

So frustrating this window. We all saw the slump over Christmas. Any half organised club would have everything lined up waiting for January. Instead we're completely down to the bare bones and by the time anything gets sorted, we could've messed our promising start up. By which point it would be pointless spending the money to push on. On Tuesday night I noticed they still had the posters up advertising the Christmas party.

It made me think surely it'd take seconds to change that which is now redundant. To anything, how about the flexi ticket thing that I heard/seen hardly anything about? Even if it generated one sale it'd be worth the paper and time it took to sort. Then I thought that sums this club up and how it is run. The stadium is filthy and they had nearly two years while the pandemic happened to get somebody in to clean it. But yet again everything is just put off or left to go to shit and that goes all the way up to transfers. And if you don't take care of the small details like that we've no chance.

The narrative seems to be that they want to keep the togetherness of the squad and initial focus was on improving our attacking line.

There is a constant mention of injuries, they are wanting to bring in cover but the quality of the cover with the likes of Forshaw being signed is questionable and signings of his calibre so far aren't the answer to keeping us in the position we are in.

The medical table stats you can find online are detailing those injured aren't going to start coming back until at least late Feb, there are 7 fixtures (including Wolves) between now and the 1st of March. Unless they can pull a rabbit out of the hat, I think we're in for a torrid finish to Jan and Feb, on the basis of our Jan Window record, I'm starting to become resigned to us suffering the regular Jan slump.

Don’t be silly. We’re 6th.

6th by the skin of our teeth.

Teams below us are bulking up now and only a few points off knocking us through the impending points trap door.

We need players in NOW and players that offer us more. Should of had players in earlier and read how our squad is currently no good having a work horse of a player when everyone around them is fkd. Leading to more injuries, more discombobulated squad, and never getting back to the winning ways we had first part of the season. We won't be 6th for long if nothing is done now

Sort of player who might be worth a punt if you are bringing in 2 or 3 quality championship players with him at the same time.

As a main January signing for a side sitting in 6th place?

Exactly. Almost strikes me as a political signing. "See John, we did back you. The recruitment team worked hard to find a diamond in the rough for you."

For the likes of Waggott, the tiny outlay someone like Kargbo would cost, would be worth it, just as an attempt to pacify people for a short period.

Kargbo could be anything but at least he looks to have a bit of pace. Our team is so one paced, so it would be nice to have a different option.

He looks particularly quick on the highlight videos on YouTube of him playing for Sierra Leone.

Certainly not excited by this one though.

I know all that thanks. I was responding to the notion our season is over. Silly.

The recruitment team have a choice. Look at our squad and injuries and decide to save money for this season as we're not at risk of relegation. Or decide that we can push for the playoffs so improve the squad to go for that. I think we know which one it will be.

The choice is on the owners and their willingness to provide a reasonable budget.

You could show someone Hedges goal at Watford and Dolan doing some stepovers and think they are worldbeaters...

Cracking soundtrack though.

Wish this lad all the best and hope he is successful but there is ZERO chance Eustace is pushing for this after all the talk of championship experience.

Bargain basement.

Kargbo, looks like the LW.

I’m gonna take a punt on us getting him for £1m+ and then Bamford and Danns on loan.

hmmmm 🤯

I doubt it is £1m+, and I cant see us signing 2 strikers. Bamford is a non starter due to his wage and the fact he is injured.
