Sorry, I don't share your certainty there Chaddy. Nothing certain in football.

I believe that we won't get promoted anyway because we will take all of the January transfer widow to sign up non-entities on loan.

If we were to sign Kyle Joseph from Blackpool and loan gelhardt from Leeds I bet most of this forum would be against it

Honestly what is the point of that post? Speculating on what we might do if we signed certain players.

Its the ultimate hypothetical!

We are currently 6th and one quality striker signing means we will get playoffs. And the chance of promotion. Plus that more assets on the balance sheet.

If we're getting into the play offs this one quality player needs to be omnipresent.

There's no way we're finishing 4-6th place with Buckley and Forshaw in midfield and Batth and Brittain out, as well as the rest.

To your last question. The summer when we signed Brittain, Hyam and Szmodics.

Fair play for finally upping the standards in terms of some cheap no marks not being up to it and demanding some money spent and making it clear that if not, we wont make the play offs.

But we are not solely a striker away from being in the play offs. Not good enough out wide or in midfield, they need addressing too.

Youve been very keen to stress that its all about this season but now you are showing concern for a lack of assets. Is it Elliott Jackson that has caused this sudden u-turn?

Quality strikers cost money. £3-5m spend on quality striker is pocket change if you get promoted.

The quality of that striker will make difference maker or not

That's where our opinions differ

It is very much about this season at the minute. It's not about u-turns at all but having the focus on this season whilst one eye on the future which I did my suggestions of players. The podcast made several great points whilst it's about sellable assets or the amount of money spent by supporters backing this great club.

Ok so it was Elliott Jackson that prompted it. We do need sellable assets either way.

Say we sign Thomas Asante/Brown/Riis/Robinson permanently and no one else. No winger, no left back, no midfielder. Are you happy with that window and do we make top 6?

Not what I said.

I have quite clear what we need for the rest of the window which just to recap quality striker, wide left attacking player and left back. 3 spots left in 25 man squad. So those will be filled by those 3 signings.

You said "one quality striker gets us in the play offs" hence my question, baring in mind those strikers are ones you think are of the correct quality.

Bamford just seems an unwise option on many levels.

He would have to presumably be a loan with 18 months left on his deal and I dont see how financially it would work considering his massive wages.

He is currently injured and has become injury prone in general.

And he is a shadow of the player who after a nomadic start to his career had that 2 year prime when he earnt his England call up. He hasnt scored all season and he misses as many chances as anyone, his goal return in general in these last 3 and a half seasons is very uninspiring.

Yes I think BTA or Riis would but yet again without a crystal ball we don't know how they will perform here.

As far as Asante goes, no one would be even mentioning him if we hadn't been tenuously linked with him.

He's definitely not the man to shoot us into the play offs imo.

We'd need a lot better than that.

Where's all the Money gone Waggott?

In the bank account being kept to pay all our overheads, as the venkys are genuinely buggered with this court case, but can't publicly say so without hurting their business operations elsewhere.

Well, that's my take on it anyway.

To make the playoffs we need Batth, Hyam, Brittain, Beck and Pears to stay fit first and foremost.

We then need to get Travis back and up to speed.

Without doing that it matters not a jot who we bring in.

That said we still need a striker who scores regularly, a wide player (ideally with pace and can beat a man), left back cover.

I thought you couldn't predict the future?

2 spots left.

We registered 23 at the start of the season, Baker and McFadzean have left, Forshaw and Sandersonnhave come in.

I can't see Sigurdsson leaving, so to get another spot available the other option is try to find a loan for Hilton and promote one of the kids to 3rd choice keeper.
