I think he's been helped by having a much more solid back 4 in front of him as well.

A back four that is blocking shots so Pears doesn't have to try to make a save as opposed to virtually every shot getting through

Would Karbo have to take one of the ESC slots or is Serie B a sufficient enough level?

Nah he only gets 7 points. I don't think any second tiers are capable of putting the points together for it. Quite a few top flights aren't, without sufficient points from European competition etc.

Personally, I think playoffs are just well out of sight now.

I'd guess that 74 points does it in this particular season, we'd need 32 points from our remaining 17 games to reach that tally.

That's 1.88 points per game on average, 10 wins and 2 draws required.

The teams around us have all strengthened, some significantly - whilst we've actually weakened. Realistically, it's just not happening.

Absolute sickener after all the hard work from Eustace and the lads.

It's genuinely criminal that they haven't backed the gaffer, he's worked an actual miracle getting us to where we was... they must forget that we almost got relegated last season, and lost a 33 goal attacker (Szmodics) without adequately replacing him.

Pears is way down the list  of Rovers goalkeepers in my time. We had much better keepers than him back when we were in the old third division.

We blew it losing all those “ winnable “ game in the lost month. We lost them because the powers that be didn’t get their finger out to support the manager.

Mmmmm. We also lost to Hull, Stoke, Plymouth, Coventry, Millwall, Watford etc in very winnable games long before January.

Our failure to replace Szmodics adequately has been the major problem all season.

Like every other club, we will lose some games, not matter what, but it feels like the lack of action has cost us at least 9 points this month and that would have at least kept us in with a very good chance, rather that the doom and gloom now around, after not only the damaging defeats, but the failure to make, even one decent signing.

Imagine if we still had Szmodics. There should have been no reason to sell unless an exceptional bid came in, after the Wharton sale in January.

We did not sell him for exceptional money. Once again, it was just to keep the lights on because Venkys don't want a penny of their money going into the club if it can be avoided.

Sure he'd have been a bit disgruntled, but another £5m ontop of what we got wasn't unreasonable. The price we sold him for was only appropriate for a 'selling club'.

Millwall and Hull were towards the end of December, ie at the beginning of the slump.

Watford are also near the top end, so not sure that can be described as “very winnable”.

It’s not so much about who you lose to , but whether those defeats are isolated or not.

Maybe I misunderstood then - what did you mean by this? Were you saying that's the budget you believe we should have, but you know we don't? Are you upset with the club about this? I know I am.

You have completely misunderstood

The £5m budget point was what I wanted us to spend NOT what is available.

Lets wait for Tuesday 4th of February to see what we actually do.

I would happily hire a limo and drive him there myself.

Did you not watch him throw two into the back of his own net on Saturday?

The second goal was a deflection of Batth How is that Pears's fault?

isn't Pears the second best in terms of percentage of saved this season?

Yep... it was wholesale and again not reinvested in the team in any way.

Yous re missing the point it’s not about agreeing or disagreeing - if you think we haven’t failed in this window already that’s on you played 4 games (1 was a refix they wouldn’t have been prepared for) 3/12 points with a depleted squad

no we haven't failed this window at all.

lets await and see who we bring in. 8 days to go

ACD certainly hasn’t been breathtaking but he still adds more than most other players in that position that we have and as pointed out has done more than hedges

not for me.

didnt say the fella was a novice I said Eustace wanted experience something you have on numerous times relayed in this forum - and to add to this the main part was we aren’t competing with Leeds Luton etc a point you conveniently dismissed

Yes Eustace did, but if we can't bring those experience players Eustace wanted then we can still bring in quality players..

Eustace's comments at the weekend mentioned quality players signings

and we do know why there’s no money being provided the answers are there for all to see - complete lack of ambition or care from the club it isn’t a coincidence that each of the last 3 seasons or so when we have been in a really good position come Jan everything just stops

Lets see what we do in the transfer market and lets the next 8 days play out.

Do you not think it was important to strengthen earlier? We have lost 3 winnable games on the bounce and our squad is falling apart. We also have the Preston game likely with no signings and then any deadline day deals will probably miss QPR. You cant just essentialy forfeit chunks of games and it has made our play off push at best unlikely even if we do strengthen.

Agree, We could have bridged a gap in the playoffs if we had acted sooner. Results went our way as well. I can’t believe some would be happy if 2-3 players come in. Damage has already been done, too slow to react and the latest bunch of results they should be accountable for

Windows a massive failure so far 😂 the clubs left the players and managers out to dry for nearly 4 weeks when reinforcements were needed. We’ve now been bunched up to all the mid table teams when the club could have been pro active at the beginning and we could have easily been +12 points up. 40million in sales and we’re allegedly fighting over 200k for bloody karbo, cargo whatever his name is. People must be on wind up.
