January Transfer window

Recommended Posts

We've been here before. Late interest in one of our players from another club with the lure of hard cash on the table. No doubt at all that the scum will be interested in a sale. So they'll put it to Eustace that selling Pears for a few million will immediately and significantly enhance his transfer kitty.

Out the side door he goes, admin errors come along, money doesn't get spent and is never seen again.

Ready made replacement already here.

I've never been a big Pears fan but do feel he has done a good job this season and I wouldn't even entertain selling anyone under these wretches as there's no chance it is getting reinvested. At best it's a couple of loans to placate the manager and fans for a while.

Is it possible the Court in India has discovered something else during its investigation and has now decided they can't send anything here at all?

Hence the desperate actions on the ground here as they try to make room for one or two cheap incomings, using club raised funds?

If the court has decided they can't send funds at all, surely there would be a court order?

You can all the time before the window to identify targets but unless it a player a club wanted rid or you can afford to.pay the asking price(which tbf we should be able to do so with Szmodics money) then you will make quality signings towards the end of the window.

You're contradicting yourself completely there.

That same person also tweets that Rovers want something like £5m for Pears if he was to leave this month. While that may be true, I'd be gobsmacked if Boro stumped up that much for him.

He is FAR from perfect but I wouldn't be too hasty to get rid of Pears at this moment in time. Who exactly comes in to replace him eh? Toth and then a new and more importantly CHEAP back up keeper most likely.

Elsewhere its good to see news of much needed incomings is coming thick and fast 🤪

People turning their nose up at £xm for Pears.

Stop the world, I want to get off.

OneEustace was completely wide of the mark with a major prediction in summer. (I think)

Yep.

Another account I have followed for a while to keep an eye on.

Rarely gets thing correct that haven't been heavily reported elsewhere first.

Any bets on the big money marquee signing that will come out a couple of days before the end of the window, before we then conveniently screw over by an inability to do paperwork?

The 2025 edition has got to be due any day now.

Urrrrgh.....As I said in my post, the likelihood is Rovers don't bring in someone better than him this month, so what's the point?? If they can do so and will actually follow through for once then that's different.

If Boro are still interested in the summer then by all means explore selling him.

If we had signed Thomas-Asante when we put a bid for him then that would quality signing for me. That reported was around middle of the month.

January window is always slow..every year the same.

Was he even a target to be fair?

He might have been our target on here but was he on Rovers transfer shortlist?

So maybe the owner should have stuck with Liam Rosenior instead? and they reinvest money they recieved into good players like Liam Millar

But we didn't sign Thomas-Asante though despite Pasha posturing in the lounges before the Portsmouth game telling people that he was having a medical on the following Friday. If he was right what happened?

I'm sorry but you are just making excuses up for the ineptitude and lack of ambition by the club.

I have no idea

No excuses but exactly why the transfer window in January is rubbish for most of it. For the first 2 weeks not much happens then middle of the months things start moving eventually

With Trav and Tronstad injured and Dolan waiting to move on a free then Pears is the next one in line.

After a decent half season, still relatively young and having seen what our previous keepers have achieved i can see an offer of 2 maybe 2.5 million rising  to 5 being acceptable for potential buyers.

As with strikers - the reasoning will be that we have already done enough to stay up and Hilton will be no 2

Yeah, you're most probably right on that. Just trying to make sense of why things have become so desperate. The situation looks worse than when they have 'turned the taps off' in the past to me.

Pears is terrible.

Agreed. But, unless we are buying a better goalkeeper than Toth in the next few days, which is almost certainly not going to happen, then selling Pears gains us nothing and leaves us weaker. Any transfer fee won't be invested in the team any more than the previous player sales. Selling players now serves no purpose other than paying bills that Venkys should be covering as owners.

It is a mess. And we are all being treated like idiots by the club hierarchy.

The transfer window is open for 34 days of which 27 have gone. So far Championship clubs have spent £44.1m and we haven't spent a penny. However you want to dress it up it's looking bleak.

I can't see Pears going to Boro tbh.

Moving back to the North East might appeal to him but he'll only be playing for a couple of months. As soon as Dieng is back fit he'll be relegated to No.2/3.

Also would mean that we would need to find a replacement and our recent goalkeeping acquisitions have been poor at best. Not to mention the glacial pace we move at regarding transfers.

Is Toth bad?

He's not had a chance?

We've given Pears billions of chances, and billions of errors.

Only sell Pears if we can bring in someone better. I don't believe we will. Selling him on the motive of bringing in any money for a player who admittedly isn't very good is meaningless at this club, at this time. The money won't be spent.
