January Transfer window

Our decisions in recent years regarding managerial appointments have clearly been better than Hull's. That doesn't leave me rattled in the slightest - but thanks for your concern for my welfare.

Rosenior and Selles decent enough picks.

Anyway, no point hiring a decent manager and then doing everything possible to alienate him.

Asset stripping is where those responsible enrich themselves. Selling players to make sure the bills are paid is not the same thing.

If that pedantic clarification is your main take away from that post, then I guess it goes to show  the lengths to which you'll defend these owners really.

I suggest you start a new thread where you can discuss our owners' fantastic decisions over recent years. I think you will be on your own

Slugs 🐌 & Snails 🐌 move faster !!

Kargbo, no relaunch
From England, however, no new offer have arrived yet for Augustus Kargbo, who coach Artico would not like to sell, also because it would not be easy to find a replacement in the time left with the same characteristics. But everything will depend on a possible relaunch by Blackburn Rovers, currently stuck at the 800 thousand euros put on the table last week and deemed insufficient by Cesena…..

I struggle with the ‘judge at the end of the window’ logic expressed by Chaddy and…. Well just Chaddy really. We’ve wasted too many games in January where we’ve had to stretch a weakened squad to breaking point. If we were a normal team with a decent squad then arguably doing business early is less of an issue. When you’ve lost players to injury and recall then the priorities need to change and the executive team at the club need to be able to react quickly.

thats the main place where we fall down. I’d argue that all of our failed transfers end up coming down to that one point. We’re too slow to react and end up having to rush things through at the end while wading through the mud that is the communication back and forth to the owners.

It’s not going to get any better any time soon. We know the owners only have interest in keeping the lights on. Nothing they have done in recent years points to anything else.

The summer window, judge it when closed but sooner, is always better to ensure a full pre-season, squad, team cohesion and time for player to settle in. The January window, when well placed and with so many points to be won or, in our case, lost during the month needed action and players in from week one.

The idea there’s an arbitrary time for judging something is ludicrous.

People (and I think most do) should assess things ‘to that point’ and then change their thoughts if and when something different happens.

In addition, why would the end of the window be the time to judge? Sure we’d know who we had signed but it would be far too soon to know their effect on the team.

Ongoing assessment has to be the only way to look at these things and to date the window has been (yet another) poor one.

it does make you think, imagine some form of miracle where eustace got this squad of players promoted to the prem. WHAT A SHAMBLES we would be in the PREM! They wouldn't spend then! We would get battered week in week out. Maybe it would put them back in the light of dogNduck owners on the global stage.

I would love to get in a room with venkys. So many questions to want to ask.

Thanks for bringing some actual transfer talk and rumour into the thread as opposed to the same cathartic arguments and finger pointing.

Was it not you who posted the other day that we'd made an increased "take it or leave it" offer of 1m E expiring on Friday whereas they wanted 1.2m?

Either way doesn't really look like it's happening, tyre kicking as usual.

Surely it was worth keeping hold of Semir to compliment what we have...  He always looked very tidy, composed and linked up play well quite well.  I guess I am answering own question...  We have an obsession with forwards that press.. No us, but running stats seem to dominate the game at the moment... What about two quick wingers to stretch the full backs and a decent attacking cm to support the big man with people breaking into the box..  I think these problems are well document and until resolved most strikers in the mould of Semir will struggle.. I don't think Lewandoski would get double figures in this side..

The wait until the end of the window is totally flawed logic. If you've identified your targets, you will have done your homework (via agents) on what you can buy for, contract price so why not buy early and have the player for an extra month. We've sacrificed 9 points and possibly more to come, plus risked the fitness of several players due to our inactivity in the market. Very poor all round and to argue otherwise is nonsense, the idea that the bet business is done at the end is a work of fiction.

I'm guessing you don't know any differently.

From memory It's not the first time that particular suggestion has been made and it wasn't him who made it originally.

Have venkys sent any money over for transfers do we know since the tweet?
