Name your sauce

Definitely Guinness. GIn and Tonic at a push.

Champagne, moi? Non!

Cheers!

I'll pop a tinnie as soon as there's any actual transfer business done - not news, not rumour, not 'he's in the building', not 'Rovers hope to..' Nope. Sauce only applies when business has been transacted. Source - the Old Codger.

If O’Brien is still the midfield target and if I was him, I’d be giving the club until Sunday night to get it all done, no chance would I be going into deadline day with a move in the hands of this useless bunch..

I’d be a huge fan of the signing though if it turned out to be him, he’d deserve a massive welcome too after the nightmare of two years ago..

With the club focussed on an away match in London the following night, what could possibly go wrong?

Jackson so confident of Rovers doing next to no transfer business that he has gone off on a jolly until the QPR game next week

I mean we won’t miss anything but who on earth approves leave at what should be a critical time for his role?

One of my financial controllers at work put in annual leave for the whole month of September, when the accounts deadline is. Apparently loads of idiots approve leave at bad times.

I'm convinced they are just playing games with the O'Brien one.

Even if our interest was genuine I'd be amazed if he would even entertain coming here unless Eustace can talk a very good game and persuade him to do it. The scars of 2023 will still be there, he will know what sort of amateur outfit he's dealing with.

What should have happened of course is that if he was such a target that we are prepared to contribute heavily on wages he should have been in the building in the first week of January so he was able to play in midfield over the last 4-5 games and make a difference ahead of Forshaw.

The problem with that is we’ve signed some right shite under the new DoF model, or whatever bastardised version of it we’re operating.

Secondly, the principles GB spouted were soon thrown out of the window as soon as JE was brought in. We’ve also sacked half the people who were responsible for implementing those principles, including the head of recruitment. We don’t have ‘principles’.

You’re completely delusional if you think the tinpot operation down at Ewood is anything like Brentford’s.

We have, but the majority of our good signings have all come from our DoF.

Over the last 5 years, our signings from managers have almost exclusively been mediocre players from their former clubs. I can't remember the last time it felt like a manager was part of spotting a good talent? Hughes?

And I never claimed that we were like Brentford, but you only make improvements by aiming for something and putting structure in place. We desperately need structure.

You're also completely delusional if you think that Eustace has shown an eye for spotting talent in the transfer market. It works both ways.

Nathan Jones saying Garrett off to Tranmere. Midfielder surely coming in. He hasn’t features I know but why leave yourself short

Personally, I would be seeing if Chesterfield would want Garrett on loan, They had a good experience with Markanday on loan from us, and they have the constantly injured Fleck as a  midfield option, so he would surely get minutes there.  Accrington as another option have given Batty minutes when he has been fit

Expecting a manager to be at least competent at managing a team, devising game by game strategy, contract planning and negotiation, succession planning and other non football activities is unrealistic in the extreme nowadays.

Not even expecting them to be competent, just expecting them to have the time.
