Ryan Porteous on loan from Watford, for anyone wondering.

We failed to sign him when he went to Watford. One of many….

Intermittent report please.

Anything?

Fuck all really. Not sure when your last status check was, but...

Ribeiro likely to come in as our LB signing. Hilton being sold to Bradford. Eustace seemingly confident we will get a couple in (one of which is surely Ribeiro) and was surprisingly smiley in the interview when asked about it. Tons of Championship rivals having no problems signing players, including ones that have already done far better than us this window prior to today.

Honestly this is absolutely pathetic.

£40m in.

No FFP issues.

We've spent £800k?

Plymouth who are going down have spent over double us?

York City in National League have spent £450k?

Make it make sense.

It's absolutely disgusting.

I dont have anything against Plymouth.

And I will judge him on how he plays. But I dont consider a cheap freebie unwanted by Plymouth to be "4th or 5th choice" to be sufficient when we lost our decent 3rd choice, have injuries in that position and are supposedly chasing promotion.

Either I have high expectations for wanting someone better than Forshaw or you have dangerously low standards.

Clearly you don't. It was ok against Bristol City and we seen that Buckley is stepping up and improving game by game, He needs a run of games to get used to playing regular and now we the improve on the pitch.

Travis and Tronstad are the starting 2 if fit so any signing would have to accept not being first choice and playing a squad role here. Unless you are dropping our captain or probably our player of the season?

Pretty sure we're not signing Adam Armstrong.

Maybe not but if he is going Leeds, we will be signing Bamford from Leeds. Possible scenario

They've spent the equivalent of about 2000 season tickets.

Which is ironic, because if today doesn't improve they're probably going to lose about that many too...

There's absolutely no chance we're signing Armstrong or Bamford.

Unlike you the only thing that would surprise me is a striker coming in

Just a comment. Yes, some clubs are doing decent business, but not every player that signs for another club means " we should have been all over that "

Would anyone here have Porteous over our current cbs?

Nobody was suggesting we should be all over him as a player.

Just pointing out how quickly other clubs move to secure targets.

We have needed a left back and a striker since December 21st., yet here we are on February 3rd with nothing over the line.

Well, considering when he was signed they weren't both fit that's not really an argument. Secondly, a signing only has to resign himself to sittjng on the bench if he's not good enough to earn his place, in which case why bother?

The whole point of transfers is to improve the squad, like all our competiton is doing.

I'd have liked him 2 years ago when we offered about £500k for him. He'd be our fourth choice, if not fifth choice, CB now though.

He's also a massive knobhead, which biases me slightly.

Bringing in a crocked Bamford on big money would probably be the only way this window could get worse.

I have always thought that as well - but if it's him or no-one - Im not so sure now.

It's not my money we'd be wasting so I couldnt care less from that point of view. Still dont think he'd be much good but he'd be a signature signing of sorts so it might lift everyone's spirits and give us a boost.

It John wants Bamford, he can have him!

"Hi John, no we can't sign any promising your L1 / L2 players on permanent contracts for you. We can piss away £30k a week on a crocked, washed up England international though. How does that sound?"

It will be an unknown quantity forward from abroad for a fee or circa a million over a few instalments on bargain basement wages and will be dressed up as something special by the club.
