January Transfer window

Ribiero, if he signs, looks like a really astute signing.. Sounds a belting player..   CM and striker now please.

Maybe he will be astute but he's only going to be available for 15 league games then he's away again and we've to rebuild our left hand side in the summer.

I know we are running out of time but I wouldn’t be too disappointed with the window as long as it finished with another CM cover (even if it was a loan who was better than Forshaw), the left back and a decent (subjective I know) striker.

This is caveated with - I wouldn’t be too disappointed in terms of a typical Venky’s window. We need to spend ‘some’ cash on a striker.

This january window business is just getting stupider and stupider every season. Not just at Rovers but cross the entire EFL. This season EVERYONE needs a striker or a forward. And the respective owners of clubs just dally along promising strikers, Ronaldhinio or the next Haaland whether you are in League 2 or PL. A way to balance the books perhaps? Keep putting things off? A way for the relegated clubs to use their financial muscle to steal players from competing clubs? I don’t care anymore.

So please just go back to transfers only in summer. That way the respective owners will have to plan for the entire season, and not just wait and see if things are ok come january. It is the same shitshow every season and it is just getting worse. We - fans and supporters and particulary those that travel - deserve better and need to know that the middle of the season won’t define the entire season based on transfers…..like losing your top striker or midfielder to another club to keep the lights on. It is just stupid so stop it!

But by all means I would love some mouthwatering transfers in january, but the more I think about it I’d rather have that player at the start of the (pre-)season. This thing is just disruptive and dumb. Get it over with and roll on with the rest of the season. Give me a couple of wins  and all is forgiven. Rant over.

He's still on our books, so I doubt you get that ESC slot back just because he's on loan.

Possibly not. @wilsdenrover will know!

Just asked Andy Watson who specialises in it. I wonder if Ribeiro uses an ESC slot.

Ribeiro auto-qualifies according to the GBE calculator I checked. So no ESC slot needed.

Oh, I thought he was going to be a permanent signing?  Silly me! Should have known!

Insetad the middle of the season would define the entire season based on injuries. It's not the January window's fault things are shit here, it's bellend chicken farmers in India.

Which makes me think we're signing a striker who requires an ESC? But let's see if a loan out frees up a slot.

I bet it's more to do with a) getting his wages off the books b) seeing if he can hack it in men's football.

He's hardly set the world alight in England so far.

With just 6 hours to go....someone should surely know something if it was imminent ...very quiet.

That's what I'm saying it's unbearable, clutching at straws, what ifs and why not. Waiting is all can do. Again literally no links anywhere

The worry for me is, EVEN if a striker is coming in, the closer we get to the deadline, I'll be worrying it's not all gone through correctly. I'd only be sure if they were involved on Sunday.

Same applies to the left back.

What a depressing day/month.

An on loan ESC player remains an ESC player for his parent club and **counts as one for the loanee club too**

** clearly this bit only relates to a domestic loan.
