January Transfer window

I’m ok with Shankland if he can get back to his previous form. Could Eustace be the man to get him back to his best, possibly. He’s an experienced forward and I’m happy to give him a chance. Certainly not writing him off

That's not the calibre of signing that fires you into the Playoffs though, is it?

Not when you look at the signings Middlesbrough have made. I think it's pretty clear that the top 5 slots are taken now - Sheffield United, Leeds, Burnley, Sunderland and Middlesbrough.

Your January transfer business being a 5th choice CM, a 4th choice CB, a backup LB, a £1m punt on an unknown from the Italian second tier and a 29 year old Scottish striker hardly reeks of ambition (or any money spent).

Prefer him to Woodrow tbh just off his goals scoring record which is impressive, albeit in Scotland.

I think  FrazerKirky is a Hibs fan but I think when we were linked with Kevin Nisbet, he said Shankland was the better option.

Nisbet, as he proved was shite at Millwall and hasn’t been setting the Heather alight at Aberdeen this year. Shankland is better than Nisbet, but I really don’t think he can play as a single striker in the championship, Woodrow would be a better fit for that.

Still Shankand knows where the back of the net is and would be a good option off the bench when needing a goal.

Why have we signed a 28 year old on a free just until the end of the season?

Surely a backup player shouldn’t be signing on a 3 year contract if he’s here to cover the young loan player and the guy out for another month? If he does well then he might get another year.

Do you only use criticism in evaluation btw? I would hate to work for you 😂

I can only think it's because the final signing we are targeting is a loan and we already have 4 loanees, limit being 5.

That's "if Carling did transfer windows" for Steve Waggott.

Some underling will be dialing a celebratory curry as I write.

I’m guessing Shankland a loan

Be a strange one, out of contract in summer.

We have 3 loans. ACD, Sanderson and Beck.

£22 million for Latte Lath, whatever it was for Isaiah Jones earlier in the window, Hackney had £10mil bid in from Porto, Sold Akpom the year before. It’s not rocket science, they just reinvest their transfer funds!

They've spent £25m this year alone (before Morton). They spent £16m last year and £10m the year before that.

So they're literally spending every penny that comes in on rom transfer fees on transfer fees.

Surely no fan is accepting any excuse this time

This is pathetic. Will be saying bye to Eustace in the summer and the likes of Brittain and Travis won't sign new contracts

If there are any stupid excuses this time, and nobody asks Waggot some serious questions about this, then I'm afraid we are just a useless club run by useless cunts

If true could be good.

His form really took a dive this season though. Makes you wonder what went wrong.

Sorry Shankland is a Z list, panic buy.

Who has the meeting notes where Twatgott stated we were targeting pace, power, and proven championship quality?

Shankland fits none of the above. I’d rather have Rhodes than Shankland.

They'll probably take one look at the League table, after being prompted by the money saving duo to do so, and agree with them that things are going well. No need to spend much, we're 5th and in with a chance. Never mind context and what other clubs are doing, we're 5th. That's as far as their 'knowledge' will go, in my view.

They won't have a clue regarding points 2 and 3. The whole family, plus Pasha, couldn't pick out quality players if their lives depended on it, IMO.

This is the family that had Vineeth Rao (a cousin of theirs) asking a couple of Rovers fans on FB for their views on particular transfer targets about 10/11 years ago. Now they have Pasha, who probably knows less than Vineeth about football.

If they are now being advised along the lines of "it's all good, no need, we're 5th, keep your hands in your pockets", then that would explain the bullshit we are seeing and have seen over the past few January's.

Over the years, I have seen certain agents try to champion stability in the Championship over ambition, winning things and 'risking it'. The same agents are friendly with and have dealt with, the shadow man over the last 10 years, that's for sure.

The favoured line from the lapdogs, whenever there is any criticism of these owners and their lack of ambition is "we can't risk the future of the club", with FFP quickly thrown in as an additional convenient excuse. None of this is a coincidence in my view, but many (outside of here) swallow it.

Pasha is the first one that needs to leave.

A message for any of the Rao family. Balaji, Jagdesh, whoever. If you have a sliver of desire for Rovers to win but don't know who to listen to, get in touch with this forum and meet up with a group of us from this forum.

It's never going to happen, I know. But you need to cut Pasha out, cut Waggott out and come and speak with us. The real Rovers people that want the club to win. We, as a collective, want Rovers to win more than anybody and would tell you in clear terms what needs to be done.

If they had an ounce of pride they'd sell the club.

Spent 25 this year but gained 30. Spent 16 last year but gained 25. Spent 10 the year before but gained 27.

They’re doing exactly what we should be doing.

He has a better than 1 in 2 record for the last 5 years or so, apart from this season when nes had an injury. I don't know how a club like ours would get someone better than that with our finances
