Two loans and Ribiero only till end of the season. So three short term players on top of the rest that could be disappearing.

Yep, going to be an interesting (probably not in a good way) summer.

Dennis should strengthen the team but is he match fit?

The lad from Luton will be a bench warmer - I can't see with his (lack of) pedigree and record how he'd be a first pick

And they're loans, meaning we're likely have to start all over again in the summer

All in all, that's a poor window (again). As little money spent as possible, and will we really be that much better?

Meanwhile, Sheffield United have brought in Ben Brereton-Diaz, Hamza Choudhury, Tom Cannon and Rob Holding, That's what you do when you're in a position of strength

And WBA filched Adam Armstrong from Soton. Did we know he was available, did we ask?

Sorry Jim doesn’t make much sense you criticise a window pointing loans when Sheff signed more loan players than us. Diaz, Hamza, Raiky, Holding all loans. Same situation different finances and bigger club fans attendance wise

Go on then, what would have been a good window in your eyes?

Signing more than one player we will own past the summer, with a bit of the 40 mill we have reaped, would help. As would a proven, prolific Championship striker like it sounds like WBA got, rather than one who is struggling at this level and one who hasn't played for nearly a year. And/or cover for CM that isn't fuckin Forshaw.

It's definitely looking better than it did before today. But the striker options are firmly a gamble (yes yes, all signings are a gamble, blah blah, but it's about degrees) and if Trav and Tron don't stay fit upon their returns we are a bit of injury trouble from our strongest position becoming our weakest.

It's not a disaster of a window, and with who we have in charge we may be able to scrape 6th even, but ultimately we have been in our best spending position in years and spent 800k in fees on only one player who will be here past summer. A summer in which a huge chunk of the squad are out of contract or returning to parent clubs.

It's kind of amazing we brought in 6 players and didn't address that, and still have an Achilles heel in CM if injuries to two players there persist (which I suspect they will, Travis was down 3 times in the last match).

We've spent a total of 800,000 this window.  All hail venkys, rovers' saviours

Perhaps the loans and freebies are just them kicking the can down the road and waiting for this court order to be settled.

Still not convinced its been a particularly good window but there is a big element of wait and see with a mixture of unknown signings. It feels like a big question mark is expecting players to replicate form that they havent shown for a long time.

Thr main issue is that its predominantly sticking plasters and short term fixes. Which January lends itself to but the problem here is weve brought in loads of money, have no real assets and have very flimsy foundations as you can see by the contract situation across the squad. The owners have again let us down with a piss poor budget and we have to hope that the recruitment has been as efficient as it could be under those circumstances.

Our attack was clearly the biggest priority because we had a severe lack of pace and goals. Dennis and Woodrow have not had success for a number of seasons, the former had an unsuccessful return spell at Watford last season but otherwise has not really played for a while. Woodrow has been a squad player and has barely scored at all since his Barnsley days. Kargbo has come from Serie B where he struggled to replicate his Serie C form. Its hard to tell how many goals they are likely to get between them but hopefully we have a few useful options added to what we have, I do like Dennis as a player and I think him and Kargbo can at least give us a lot more pace which can hopefully also help to get more from the likes of Gueye and Cantwell.

The midfield is a massive concern, the justification for signing Forshaw was to save resources but I would have happily not signed Woodrow if it meant getting a midfielder up to standard with Baker leaving. With Travis just back and Tronstad a month away, it leaves us with a big weakness as Buckley is not the answer and Forshaw certainly isnt.

Defensively Ribiero is an interesting signing albeit a frustratingly short term one and was decent at Forest (again a while ago) so its good to have cover at left back. Sanderson has looked rash and over eager in his appearances but hopefully Carter will be back soon and he will become a 4th choice than unlike McFadzean we know has the ability to play in a back 4.

night fellas been a wacky 30days 👍

Can you imagine 😂

'Sorry Cauley, we didn't think Dennis would actually sign the contract, and Rudy was doing his best to sit on the fax machine whilst Swag sent photocopies of his arse to the EFL, not sure how Dennis' paperwork got through.'

Using our position in the table as an advantage by signing a couple of assets up on longer deals

We have spent peanuts.

Take Dennis. Can’t afford him permanent, so we sign him on loan and break the top 6 and get promoted. As opposed to signing a lower league Striker on a permanent who fails to cut the mustard, finish 7th and stuck with a dud.
It’s all unknown but there has to be a middle ground in all of this, we were never going to splash the cash on big fees and long contracts. Signing someone permanent doesn’t come with a guarantee of them being a success. What are your thoughts on say Sigurdsson? Permanent signing, good pedigree and yet half this board can’t wait to be rid.
I’m by far from a happy clapper but accept we are where we are. And objectively it isn’t a bad window.
