Emmanuel Dennis is a cracking signing. He is a real threat once he gets going. Woodrow is better than Leonard, so that's an upgrade for me.

It's short term and they've done it on the cheap. Only one set of people to blame for that. We are going to have the same issues again in the summer in needing multiple new incomings as the loanees go back.

However here and now, considering the small budget and these being loans, they look like shrewd picks on paper. It doesn't matter that West Brom have got Armstrong and Boro have got Iheanacho etc for me. We're fighting them all the way regardless.

Eustace has got us organised and staying in games. Now we've added pace in Kargbo and extra goal threat in Dennis and Woodrow. It's on.

Let's get after these teams and keep the pressure on. Boro are no Real Madrid no matter who and how many they sign, and West Brom have Mowbray as manager. Our biggest problem is our own hierarchy.

In the summer we lose 12 or 13 of the squad signings have to happen, if we want have a squad not filled with 16 year old 

This window we had leeway with ffp, we could spend if the desire was  there and I'm pretty certain Eustace was under the impression more money than the relative to the league pittance we spent was available 

Like I said we should be using the position in the table to try entice players.They will have to spend something in the summer monet should have been spent on longer deals in this window

Do Sheff U have as many players out of contract in the summer? They're also odds on for automatic promotion, playoffs at worst, so bringing in the best players they can, short term if need be, makes more sense for them as they will have immense funds to buy permanent Prem quality players soon. Meanwhile we will have done very well indeed if we qualify for the playoffs, which are a lottery, and are more than likely to be in this league again next season.

Might be different if we had struck earlier.

Probably a CM away from this being a pretty decent window.

Of course, I would have loved to see us spend a bit of money, but I'm also aware that loans are not freebies. Bringing Denis in won't be cheap - although I'm sure his lack of playing time means that we aren't picking up much of his wages.

How fit is he? Time will tell. We don't really have that luxury, but have to hope that he can get up to speed and add a component that this side has been desperately missing.

We also have to cross our fingers when it comes to our central midfield options. We have 3 viable options there. We can't afford injuries. Can't afford suspensions. We have midfielders who have a tendency to pick up both.

Sanderson 4/10 - decent backup but it's a loan spot wasted in my opinion. Should've signed a center-back on a permanent deal.

Forshaw 0/10 - not even good enough as a backup. A downgrade to Baker.

Kargbo 5/10 - a gamble since he's unproven at this level. Could be good, could be bad.

Ribeiro 4/10 - again, decent backup like Sanderson. Not likely to get ahead of Beck in the pecking order, though. 

Dennis 7/10 - good signing. Will need a couple of matches to gain match fitness but possess much-needed pace that has been lacking for some time in this team. 

Woodrow 3/10 - questionable signing. Was out of favour in Luton. Not convinced at all. 

 

Overall rating: 4/10 - Only Dennis can be seen as a good signing this window as he will improve starting XI. Ribeiro, Sanderson and Woodrow are, at best, decent backups. Kargbo is a real gamble, can't imagine the recruitment team are fully convinced on this one but time will tell. Forshaw is just a horrible one.

Exactly and they're just supplementing an already strong squad.  They're already odds on for promotion.  They'll get the riches of the epl next season.  We're throwing caution to the wind when the wind is already blowing a gale force

Think decent business overall given our financial position (losing £10m year) and fact we generally have to sell 1 x player to mitigate losses.

CB - brought in as 3rd choice, upgrade on Macfadzen ✅️ (cheap and well known to the boss)

CM - in to replace 3rd choice CM that went back to Stoke, but very cheap 🟠

Pacey winger - brought in on a perm ✅️

LB - with decent pedigree to support Beck and injured Pickering ✅️

ST - big upgrade in quality striker brought in, granted its a loan but as others have mentioned no way we could afford a permanent ✅️

ST - backup striker not ideal but is there in case we have injuries and who knows 🟠

On the whole I would rate this a 7.5 out of 10 window, mainly due to overall circumstances, we are just not going to spend big money unless we have a benefactor.

JE will be content, he seems calm and collected in his approach.. a man in total control.

And therein lies the problem......

Apart from the one player with a bit of pedigree, Dennis (who is unlikely to be match fit), they're all squad players, none that you could say is a guaranteed, automatic starter who is better than what we already have and will improve the team
