JBiz Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Just now, booth said: Objectively Forshaw - couldn't get into Plymouth's team down the bottom of the league. Sanderson - couldn't get into Birmingham's team in L1. Woodrow - couldn't get into Luton's team, also down the bottom of the league. Dennis - hasn't played in 9 months. Ribiero - LB, six month contract. Kargbo - Serie B player for 6 months. Let's be positive and hope that Woodrow and Kargbo can surprise us, Dennis can get match fit quickly and score some goals and the backup players can provide better backup than Forshaw has done so far. Let's really hope that Tronstad and Ohashi can come back and Ohashi after a long rest can be as prolific as he was in the opening few games. If that’s objectively then I need to resit English GCSE 1 Quote

Why dont you just do what everyone else does and share your opinion on the signings rather than go around just repeatedly implying that its just an echo chamber of negativity? I am no clearer as to what you think. 6 Quote
BRFC4EVA Posted February 4 Posted February 4 (edited) At least Dennis has a bit of time to get up to speed. Any players signed today were always going to miss QPR. Then it's the cup on Sat. Might not be ready for WBA, but then Plymouth at Ewood. So best part of 2 weeks to get ready for that game and would only miss 1 league game. Edited February 4 by BRFC4EVA 2 Quote

Pointing out we’ve had the same owners for 14 years and lost money in every one but this, I mean what’s the point of that when you’ve 95% screaming for Rao investment? I said recently I’d be happy if the Rao’s, never put a penny into the club again and @RevidgeBlue , a very constant poster over the last decade said I “must be a Burnley fan” So there you go. As pointless as it was fulfilling your request, I’d rather the club washed its own face all day long. 1 Quote
USABlue Posted February 4 Posted February 4 The first step must be rid this club of the arselicking self preservationists that are literally stealing a living. Get rid of maggot and the Indian ghost. Get in some proper football people. A few that know football and are not afraid to TELL the Venks how it needs to be instead of bendin over for em. I have no doubt in my mind, as do others, that as absurd as it sounds, the power brokers Waggot et al fabricated our failure to bring in those quality signings kast fee seasons. Make it look like we tried. Such low lifes are they that they looked out for their own earnings and bonuses without regard for damage done to anyone else, including players and their families. If Venks are so worried about money why have their executives been allowed MILLIONS to go amiss do to piss poor managing of contracts and selling players way under market value. Heads should have rolled for that alone Also being a bit if a Cynic I always felt the ther hiring of Broughton and JDT was to provide scapegoats for our incumbant man at the top. Found myself wondering if Waggot got em conviced we do not need to spend. Why? Because look how good we are doing now with all our injuries we can ealk it once everyone is back. FUCKIN EMBARRASSING. I love my club but shit this is horrible. Even in our darkest days we have never been ran this poorly. We did not have a pot to piss in but what we had in droves was heart. 7 Quote

What's your rating of our transfer activity this window? Do you find it acceptable that we only spent £1 million in total on six signings, whereby three on loan and two on a free? Do you acknowledge the fact that the club now has not spent more than £1 million in a single window during the last six winter transfer windows? Do you know anything about Kargbo that we don't? I'm trying to be realistic in my judgement but some posters on here seem to be happy to cheer the club on regardless of what is happening. 5 Quote

ageoftherover Posted February 4 Posted February 4 The problem with signing a CM in a window like this is that it's probably our strongest area of the field at full strength. Our two best players are there, one of whom is our captain. Yes Tronstad is out for a while more and both are high risk in terms of injury and suspensions, but if you're a guy like O'Brien, who should really be one of the first picked at this level, you're going to favor a club where there's a bit more of an opening. We needed cover there and got Forshaw, who certainly doesn't look like he belongs at this level anymore. Not making excuses as it's a poor bit of business no matter how you slice it, but I think expecting a guy of O'Briens caliber to join in a window like this isn't realistic. I think the recruitment team has done ok (but no better than that), given our awful, apathetic owners. Quote

In JE we trust to get the best out of these players. Travis was written off, Brittain and Batth are playing out of of their skin. The only JE magic dust that hasnt worked so far is Siggy. 4 Quote

roverandout Posted February 4 Posted February 4 It's been a slightly below average window. Not the window we needed yet again. While other clubs have significantly strengthened we've bought in mostly squad players. What I hate is people praising the 'owners' when they've done nothing. I just hope Eustace can keep working his magic 5 Quote

I wouldn’t banksy on it though and if anyone kicks off in the ground canvassing for better players, they could get arrested by the local constable. At least we didn’t sign anyone as bad as John Lowry and from those painting a picture of positivity, draw your own concussions. 6 Quote

Exiled_Rover Posted February 4 Posted February 4 (edited) I think it's too little, too late. There's absolutely no reason why all of these signings couldn't have been done on Jan 1. We've barely paid a fee - we've simply picked up unwanted players (Sanderson, Forshaw, Ribeiro, Woodrow and Dennis). Kargbo is the only one who was regularly playing for his side. If we'd have picked up points against Oxford / Bristol City et al I'd feel much better about this window. As it is I think Boro have locked up that 5th Playoff spot with their deals this January and Sheffield United, Leeds, Sunderland and Burnley have built up too big a gap to catch them - so everyone else is playing for 6th. Still, at least we've finally signed some pace, eh? Edited February 4 by Exiled_Rover 6 Quote
