January Transfer window

Poku is due back mid February. I would rather the club make longer term investments constantly with any funds they get rather than making short term fixes as we need players quickly. If it takes the whole of January it takes the whole month. The urgent need is the centre forward. Didn’t realise Stewart was injured now, probably go with kone then.

Mid feb he’s due back won’t have kicked a balm so add another month on itl be mid March - I get if he available and we’re top of the pile he’s a good fit going forward

bit for me if there are alternatives that are ready we should prioritise those.

we aren’t in a position to blow the majority of a small budget on a player who could be good next season. We have wasted the last 3 jan windows and fell off a cliff what we need is players for the now give this second half of the season a right good go with no excuses

We will have to agree to disagree on that. If you think poku wont play till mid march let’s wait and see.

we messed up the previous windows by not signing anybody or signing poor quality. If we only have limited budgets every window we should sign the best players we can. We are handing out multi year contracts you don’t make a decision to do that based on somebody not being available for a month of it. If that was the case we should never of signed cantwell.

It never happens like that in January and never does unless you overspend or the club we want the player from won't sell him unless they get player in

Aren’t you more likely to overspend if you leave it late and the selling club has you over a barrel? We need to strengthen and need to do it soon as there a lot of points to play for in January.

And invariably that barrel is being scraped. I foresee another last day glut of panic signings like last season including deperado's like Fleck.

That is nowhere near the same and quite frankly an absurd comparison - 4 games before we signed cantwell he missed two so 6 out of 44 - poku mid march when fit could be back for 9/10 games

poku transfer for me isn’t about ability as he seems a right player but again it’s league one so that needs considered but we need players in jan that are ready as early as possible ie walk in within a week or 2 week transition max not someone who is currently injured (how would he pass a medical) and would need to get up to championship speed would need u23 games etc for me that’s effectively a waste in jan it’s not helping the squad for the now

I get if we get him that’s another young decent player on the books for the future but for me the present outweighs anything. Sitting within playoff contention we can’t let jan window slip

Cornet would be a top signing if there's any truth in us being interested. Eustace did say he'd be open to another "Cantwell type" transfer and Cornet would fit that bill.

He's very talented but has a questionable attitude and his career has stalled - same with Cantwell. Eustace would be the perfect manager to get his career back on track.

Would he be prepared to take a big drop in wages like Cantwell did though.

Let’s see when poku is fit.

Cantwell had no preseason and admitted himself he was nowhere near fully fit after 4 or 5 games for us.
We don’t have millions to spend so all I’m saying is I’d rather us sign the best player we can for the next three or four years not somebody at a slightly lower level because he’s fit and ready now makes absolutely no sense.

Cornet is another one of those “ fast of the mark “ players that are destined to spend plenty of time on the treatment table. See Harry Chapman. They have pace but they don’t know how to use it wisely.

i would`nt go near anyone who`s in the plymouth defence, have you seen how many goals they concede!!!!

Yet, scored 2 to our 1 at their place earlier in the season. Was there and they are always our bogey side.

Who said they wouldn’t be his level or better I’m simply saying let’s sign someone fit and not injured - poku is unproven

I was just going to post the same Arbitro.

There really isn’t any excuse. The manager has been saying for months that he needs “quality” bringing into the squad. It’s undeniable that we do. Waggott tells us there’s money available. To be scrapping around in the last hour of the transfer window having waited again to see if anyone’s available on loan from the big clubs would be just inexcusable but I wouldn’t bet against it. I doubt Eustace would tolerate that.
