Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t a bond like putting money in the bank. They won’t actually lose it.

That depends on whether or not, these honourable people have been honest or not.

I know where my money is and it isn’t in their bond.

They’d only lose it if the money remitted overseas was used for a purpose other than the one they said it was for.

Remind me what got them in this mess in the first place…

Gabo on bench for Fulham today.

Nicko is saying that Schlupp is the priority at the minute. Eustace, Gestede and Owen all agree on this. He also saying the striker signing will be loan at the minute.

Evolution---Mowbray style. Jam tomorrow. The squad needs major attention now.

3 or 4 good signings and we're on our way.

Eustace wants 2 or 3 signings. That's what he has said. Schlupp is a target at the minute and he can play left back and left winger. Then we need a striker and centre back then

Something has to be in the pipeline. If Markanday was being recalled then I would be worried. I think we will spend on a left sided player as it’s needed, yes we need a striker but bringing 2 in the summer can see it being a loan. Will end up with Danns from Liverpool.

Schlupp is exactly what we need. And he does offer a ‘goal threat’ whatever that means.

I dont think he is. We need a winger or 2 with pace and who can offer a goal threat. Obviously thats not easy on our budget but either way Schlupp is IMO not what we need.

He has never scored more than 4 league goals in a season (plus he got 1 in the cup) and due to his age his legs are going.

Hes more of a utility man, I always thought he was best as a wing back. He might be a steady eddie as a wide man, working hard but we have lots of them already. We need some more attacking threat.

Kent would make more sense. Can be inconsistent, questions about attitude and has not played for a bit so it comes with red flags. But hes quick and takes people on, would be permanent and isnt into his 30s, and he has had seasons where he scored a decent amount of goals as a wide man.

We’ve generated 45M in the last 18 months from transfer fees.

We have near 25M ‘space in FFP’.

We have a great manager and a squad that have put us in a great position, but now need sizeable support to get them over the line.

Venkys and Steve Waggott will NOT invest in genuine difference makers. They never do. History shows that. It happens every single year.

Linked with top talent, the fans lap it up, cheap alternative is delivered.

Venkys will not invest. Its not Waggott and its not even Suhail. Its Venkys.

I don't know. Eustace spoke about he suggested some names to Gestede, so if Schlupp and Kent are his targets would you not sign them?

Why would anyone do that? Plus he will say his appointment of Eustace is having massive positive affect on the club..

Wharton's money has gone in my opinion. I hope we can buy a quality striker that will push us over the line. We all do

He is playing regular football for playoffs chasing team. Developing and learning his trade

Just because Eustace endorses a signing doesnt automatically make it what we need.

Is Schlupp an attacking player who can score a decent amount of goals, and who is going to take people on? No, hes an aging utility man. And if hes signed partly to cover left back, as and when hes needed there, then we are back to square one.

Kent I think could potentially give us what we need. If its Schlupp as well, different story. If not, no to Schlupp.

It really is shameful that we are again reduced to loans.

Don't know enough about Schlupp to know if he's still got anything in the tank. Was obviously a good player at one point, his age and his reliance on pace is a concern though.

Kent is an interesting one, highly rated at one point and was tearing it up at Rangers a few years back by all accounts. Not sure why he left them in the first place, or why he left Fenerbahce 1 year into a 4 year deal, and still hasn't been picked up by a club for the last few months. Potentially a player in there and one that if you could get firing, could be sold for very good profit (which is all the Rovers hierarchy care about) but would probably only make a real impact next season.

Incredibly lazy argument.

Whereas ‘I don’t think he’s what we need even though I haven’t seen him play in years but just checked his wiki for his goal scoring record’ is an in depth analysis?

I think I’ll stick with the manager will be in a better place to judge.

Of the two I'd take the chance on Kent, even though he probably won't be match fit until February at the earliest.

Then why have a thread at all? It’s an opinion forum for fuck sake. Let’s all just keep our opinions to ourselves on signings, performances, players etc. as the manager knows more than us.

Don’t get upset. He’s allowed an opinion. But it’s a statement of fact that Eustace will know no more than anyone else what he needs for the team he manages.

Hooe this helps.

Suggest you learn what a fact is. You seem to get very gobby on here if anyone questions your thinking. They’re pixels on a screen buddy, it’s not personal.

You keep repeating this and I don't understand what you are saying.

We keep getting told by the club that we can't use that money because it isn't all paid to us in one lump sum, rather it is spread out across several years. So how can it be gone?

If it was all paid in one lump sum, and the club have lied (again) then where has it gone in less than 12 months? Are you suggesting that it has all been used to cover losses? If so why? That would mean that losses in the last 11 months exceeded £20 million, which is surely impossible, but even if correct we've still had the Raya and Szmodics money since then - so where is that?

I think you are saying it is 'gone' because that is what Nixon is saying.

What we actually are getting to here is not that it has 'gone' but rather that the owners are not allowing any of it back into reinvestment or improvement to the club. Instead they are using it to pay their bills moving forwards. Nothing untoward there, that's their choice.

Nothing to do with FFP, cycles, weather, Covid, just a simple choice on their part that they want to save money by forcing the club to live off the sale of a once-in-a-generation talent rather than allow a portion to come back to support JDT or Eustace.

Agreed?

I believe we get the money from Palace in 3 instalments and I think Rovers have/will do used it to cover the running cost of the club. I would have like money to be spent from the money we have received in the last 12 months like this window on a striker who I would like as permanent. Nicko is saying today that it was loan striker in. He is saying we have money for 3 loans on decent wages.

I do whether who this loan striker will be. Cannon doesn't look likely

Hardly groundbreaking news Chaddy. Every single transfer in and out of the club is paid in installments.

If we signed 3 loans then we would have 6 so one would always be unable to be even in the squad.

The amount of money we have brought in and barely a slither available to reinvest. We clearly wont make the play offs and our squad will have the numerous sticking plasters ripped off and we will be left with a skeletal squad again come the summer. And with no sellable assets to speak of.

You HAVE to reinvest some money. That then gives you assets, you can then potentially sell them in the future, reinvest and so forth. Not here.

And even then, people still shrug their shoulders. Even if they claim its gone to running costs, reivesting some will potentially lead to further profits on those players in the future.

What tricks? Josh, you intimating somehow that Rovers should / could spend millions based on revenue from sales is the most deluded narrative on here.

Schlupp and Kent do not represent the same profile of player we’ve signed in January before. They look very much like the type of player the manager may want.

As for me, I’m not falling for anything. I know from the horses mouth that whatever JE, or Waggot for that matter think they can spend matters not. Suhail runs the whole show and those numbers and budgets can change by the minute. It’s a shit show.

Hang on, you coined the legendary phrase that they never refuse to sign a cheque?
