O'Brien? Yeah he wasn't the one that got away that January, good player but nothing special - that was an embarrassing story because of how we handled the whole debacle.

Undav was the one that would have changed our season.

that lad has been forced to have such an odd career with that Forest move. doesn't surprise me he can only impress in the MLS at the moment; he's constantly moving and uprooting every 6 months or so, he's never gonna settle. he'd make an odd signing for me now; he'd be here a few months, then back to Forest, then off somewhere else again. no player is gonna find decent form when they're forced to live and play in such a way

Yeah his career went wayward when he joined Forest and then they went on to sign loads of other players. It was the wrong career move he should have gone to Leeds when Biesla was mad for him.

He isn't the same player as the one who left Huddersfield, when he was probably the best midfielder in the division

I think he just needs to settle in somewhere and he'll rediscover himself.

Would be delighted if we brought him in, we should try to sell Buckley to contribute towards something like this... but they won't, because despite how it makes sense, it would cost the overlords a few quid.

feel like the overlords wouldn't want to sell buckley over some bizarre fan upset logic purely to do with him having a chant. seems really odd to me that they've never seemingly tried to shift him considering how little he plays. bittersweet he only ever gets to hear that chant when he's warming up, must be an odd feeling for him

I'd love to sell Buckley this window. I sigh when he comes on - his attitude stinks.

I think this exact same thing every time the chant starts, almost makes me feel sorry for the lad.

He's better off leaving to get some regular football, if we're pushing for play-offs he simply isn't of the level required - and Eustace clearly isn't a fan.

The most bizarre thing about Buckleys place in the squad for me is that he seems to be third in line for the captaincy under Eustace.  In recent weeks, in the absence of Travis, Tronstad has been giving him the armband when he has been replaced late on .  Which given how few minutes Buckley gets, seems a strange choice

Buckley looks like he loves all the trappings of life as a professional footballer, but without the football bit.

Shame because clearly there was potentially a great player in there, but he's had enough chances now.

Just my opinion - his attitude has never been right. You only have to look at his disciplinary record. How many real cards has he deserved over the years ? Nearly all his cards have been for stupid things.

I used to train apprentice engineers. I used to tell them -  “  It’s all about your attitude to the job. If your attitude is right I can teach you all you need to know. You’ll be a success. If your attitude isn’t right I don’t care how smart you are. It won’t work, so you’d be better off doing something else. “

Buckley lost his way big time after Mowbray left. When Adam Wharton broke into the team its as though Buckley just cowered away from the challenge and has never recovered since. If he applied himself properly with the right attitude then he'd be on the team sheet every week in Trav's absence for sure, because I'd say he's a more technically gifted player than Lewis Baker.

Looks like he has lost his love for the game at this point. It happens, and it would be best for him to drop a level or two and find the love again, but I doubt he will.

Same happened with Josh Bowler.  Looked a real player at Blackpool but  just had loan after loan since. Another one that needs a permanent move.

Might be misremembering but didn't Buckley have quite a good run as a number 10 one season?

21-22 under Mowbray, played just ahead of Rothwell and Travis.

He had a good season, had a real knack of winning the ball high up the pitch and feeding the likes of Rothwell, Diaz, Dolan, Khadra. One or two games too where he was gliding past people for fun.

Since the end of that season, barring a 5/6 game run under JDT in Feb/March 23 where he was looking good again before he picked up his season ending injury he just hasn't got going again.

I don't think he's cut out for this level and he's not developed much since coming through

He was ok at #10 under Mowbray, but he had no end product - he wasn't a goal threat.

Rumours flying around we maybe looking at Rob Holding. Coventry and Sheffield Wed also looking.

LOL Eustace is taking this 'experience' suggestion a bit far. Everyone is bloody 30.

That's the second CB we've been linked to though, which suggests Carter isn't coming back this season.

Might be trash but few comments on coventry's forum and a poster on twitter saying so.

What's happened to Holding? Wiki says 1 Premier League appearance this season for Palace? Seems a come down from being reasonably regular for Arsenal.

Edit misread it - that seems to be an u21 appearance. No senior appearances in 2023-4 or 2024-5?

Injury?
