January Transfer window

Why aren't we in the same league financially as Sheffield Wednesday?Surely Stoke can't pay a permanent transfer fee without getting into bother with ffp with all the money they have spent and no big sales?

I know we won't be in for him but we should be.We have plenty of room with Ffp have made a transfer profit of 35+ million over the last 2 seasons .

What is stopping us from offering more money than Stoke are now and agreeing to pay the money Leicester want if we get promoted. The thing stopping us is our useless owners and their lack of ambition.

It wasn't so long ago they paid out a similar fee on Brereton who barely made a start in his first 12 months.

P.S the club would have us believe that the owners signed off on a similar deal when they agreed to O' Brien only coming here and that was before bringing in millions from player sales

You’ve answered the question - the owners are stopping us hence why we are dipping in the lower league ponds

should we be? Nope

but I deal in reality and the reality is that venkys will NOT pay big bucks for any player especially in Jan and with a guaranteed bond attachment

they are always have been and will always be the problem

He's cut out for the Swedish league because it's a level or three below the Championship. He has shown glimpses here, but too many injuries and has struggled to nail down a spot here. Good finisher but that's about it.

Give him a start against Boro, if he's not injured. Still waiting to see what he can do 😕

O'Brien? Yeah he wasn't the one that got away that January, good player but nothing special - that was an embarrassing story because of how we handled the whole debacle.

Undav was the one that would have changed our season.

And what's the bet that they did their usual and pulled the rug when he was in the building and that's the reason he didn't sign?

Dolan does start for  some other championship clubs .

Dolan started plenty of matches when we finished 8th in the league,Hedges and Dolan started plenty of matches when we finished 7th in the league. Hedges and Dolan have started plenty of games this season when we are 7th in the league

Hedges cost us a play off spot at PNE and should’ve been sold the next day

Dolan won’t get a championship deal at another top club, he’ll panic and sign for someone like Cardiff on the last day of a window. The same was said for Nyambe when he was here and he ended up at Wigan. All bite and no bark, we seem to judge players here on their ability to work hard when it’s the bare minimum, if you want to get out of this league you have to have quality. None of our attacking players have any. I’ve lost count of how many wingers we’ve played against this season where I’ve thought ‘how have these got better wingers than us?!’

Its not even a guaranteed bond, it would only come into play if we got promoted the 6 or 7 million tiny in comparison to the riches on offer

I'm agreeing I know they won't do it but the club should definitely be questioned as to why the club were adamant the owners had signed off on such a deal in January 23 when they apparently agreed to pay Nottingham Forest £10 million for Lewis O'Brien if we got promoted, but yet this January won't explore similar deals. With the money received over the last 2 years we should be in a position to pay decent fees for players but failing that at least explore ways of getting much better quality in by offering loans to buy upon promotion and paying a decent loan fee

I mean what is their long term plan here. You can't keep on getting into decent positions and then just letting it  pass you by,and the level of spending will only lead one way eventually and that is league one.

I'd say more than any other season in a while promotion is there for the taking by an unfancied club, the top 3 ain't as good as seasons gone by,top two is gone but 5th and 6th is up for grabs and anything can happen in the play offs

Same could have been said 2 seasons ago

but they won’t provide or at least didn’t then and a further 2/3 windows of failure since then doesn’t bode well for this one either

should they be held accountable yes

will they be held accountable no

until they are going we can only hope for mid table whilst we might often flirt with top6 we will never get it

Based on absolutely no facts or truth whatsoever I can confirm that Brewster to Rovers is ON as soon as BBD to Blades confirmed

I've just seen Harry Kane on the M65 Ewood turn off.

LOL Eustace is taking this 'experience' suggestion a bit far. Everyone is bloody 30.

That's the second CB we've been linked to though, which suggests Carter isn't coming back this season.

carter will be back within a month I believe given the timeline given when it announce he was out injury for a period of time. Jackson said similar on his podcast yesterday

If the club had any ambition they would go to Leicester City and offer them more money than Stoke City are paying for Cannon.

Stoke are going nowhere so Cannon could very well be tempted to join a club with a chance of at least making the playoffs

I said similar last week and that what I hope we are doing. We see in 4 weeks time

I think there is some word of a lie there personally - I think all 3 would get games in a lot of clubs.

There’s no chance we are 7th in the league regularly starting 3 players that nobody else would play.

Hell we probably said that about Amari’i Bell at one point then he was a mainstay in a promoted team, we always think ours are worse (or better depending on viewpoint) due to confirmation bias

I said 'start' games...cause all 3 would get games, they are good subs but for me none of them should be starting for us if we're wanting to push forward.

Dolan maybe but he isn't good enough offensively.

So, has anyone seen anything solid/reputable about the names being thrown around???

Mohammed Farsi?

Ryan Kent?

Jeffrey Schlupp?

Grant Hanley? (No thanks)

Reading between the lines, the LT article suggested there was something in the Schlupp one. But I'd imagine too much (any) competition will rule us out.

Well one week of the window (nearly) gone and so far no signings but we've been linked with loan moves only for two players who want loans with a permanent deal guaranteed at the end of them and a move for a former Rangers winger who's played 8 games in 2 seasons for his current Club.

Sterling work.

Absolutely outstanding.

It is highly unlikely, we will get relegated... So we play on with the Status Quo..

Somehow these Indians have to be removed..

SAS rogue heroes perhaps?

not this year but sooner or later it`s coming, you stand still in football, don`t invest in decent players and sell everyone of value then you will go down eventually

Schlupp has had near enough 300 apps in the Premier League and has won a promotion from the Championship

He is an international footballer

Oh and he won the Premier League

“Utility man”…whatever. He’s obviously a good player and better than we have so if the opportunity is there to bring him, do it

As much as I appreciate that (and even agree), the likes of Danny Murphy have me ever-cynical.

I couldn't agree more.. Waggotts aim is to safe money, when it really starts going wrong he will be off on his retirement..
