I wouldn't say no like.

Just depends on whether he'll put in a shift or not. His success was massively down to his work rate and once he'd signed that deal with Villarreal he spent the rest of the season hiding on the touchline.

He's streets better than what we have at the moment.

Presumably it would only be a loan and it would be reliant on Southampton paying nearly all his wages though.

Would make total sense for us and them if he came on a short-term loan to try and rediscover some fire/form (even if he left under a bit of a cloud), he'd be a great outlet for Cantwell and competition for Ohashi and Gueye.

One can hope (dream)...

That's a good point - one thing BBD always had/has is intelligent runs between the lines.

Wharton found him numerous times in a way that I think Cantwell would do.

Not sure I can see it happening, but it would be one that would make sense.

January 2024 we signed Ben Chrisene and Yasin Ayari on loan and McFadzean and Fleck on short term deals.

January 2023 we signed Sorba Thomas on loan

January 2022 we signed Ryan Hedges, Ryan Giles and Zeefuik on loan

On each of these occasions we were either sat comfortably in the top 6 or very close to it. Yet we made 3 permanent signings, two of which were 6 month deals running until the summer, and 5 were loans.

Where or why anyone thinks that Eustace is suddenly going to get backing from these owners or board I really don't know but it never ceases to amaze me that people think things will suddenly change whilst the same old regime runs the show.

He maybe streets ahead in skill. But would he bring the required effort. Given a choice it would be a no for me.

My Southampton pal who is a ST holder at St Mary’s and well connected just asked me if I had heard that we were taking Sullemana on loan in January.

I really hope there is something in this rumour as that is an exciting link. I wouldn't want Brereton back, but Sulemana is rapid and would add a real threat for us on the break. I'm sure he holds a record for being the fastest player in the Prem, or something along those lines.

It was suggested on another thread that Brighton might recall Cozier-Duberry in Jan. Ideally, I'd like us to keep him and bring in Sulemana too so that we have two pacey options. However, if it's a case of the former leaving to be replaced by the latter, I'd take that.

I think he'd have quite a bit to prove if he came back from the naysayers who reckon he downed tools.

It'd be a definite yes from me but doubt it would happen. Likely to be far too ambitious

Also take into account that they deliberately sabotaged three transfers in the last two of those windows.

A major problem will arise if Owen Beck is recalled by Liverpool in January. He was recalled in the last season midway through his loan spell at Dundee after Liverpool got some injuries.

I think they have several options at left back - so not sure - but the possibility is always there.

Playing in League Two, for Chesterfield.

"Playing" is exaggerating just a little 😉

a grand total of 39 minutes so far this season (which is still more than double what he managed with Rovers), none of those in the league.  Currently out with a shin injury

It's going to be hard to find a quality striker and it will be interesting whether it will be striker from championship or league 1 we go for or the overseas market

Villa want to recall Louie Barry from Stockport and send him out to a Championship side in January. Other teams are sniffing around already.

He was on loan Salford City a couple of season I remember seeing him signed there when watching the class of 92 tv series.

Sheffield Wednesday and Boro are after him

Time to bring in quality striker who can battled Ohashi and Leonard for the striker spot

Do you think we’d look at bringing in Louie Barry? There’s talk of his loan being ended at Stockport early and him going on loan to a championship club. We had a loan from Villa last year so we possibly have a relationship with them.
