Especially as we weren't a Championship Club but a Premier League one when they bought us.

No point swapping owners who can fund losses for ones who can't though.

Because the owners are both totally detached delaying decisions being made and also have stripped back any reinvestment, its very difficult to get deals done quickly because you are left begging, stealing and borrowing for the scraps at the end of the window.

The problem is, we dont only need quality in, we need players not at the end of the window but now. Chuck in rearranged games and our January is so busy, and we have gaps in key areas. Carter will be out until the start of February, Travis will be out until February, Baker has left a hole and Ohashi will be out until the start of February.

We are short in all of those positions anyway, we only had 3 centre backs to begin with as McFadzean is not a genuine option in a back 4, we have 2 midfielders including Travis and then Buckley who isnt good enough. And Ohashi is our only striker who is anywhere near Championship standard and hes out.

And thats before you consider the lack of pace in the team.

No point having owners who can fund losses if they don't give a toss.

Owners with a bit of gumption wouldn't need to fund losses.

To be fair, to them we're probably just a bottomless money pit but the only chance they have of getting a decent chunk of their money back is for us to be promoted so you'd think that in itself would be the motivation to provide the manager with some clever and strategic investment in players.

Exactly sure you buy a business to progress and make money???

Venkys clearly are trying their best to avoid having to fund losses. I think in the 2024 accounts we will show a small profit.

They have in the past up until the Court case, I meant when the last bits of family silver have been sold off. They'd have no option then but to cover or sell.

I think that's a fairly optimistic take.

Not at all,

Sell Wharton, Szmodics etc for close to £40M

Invest £10M of said £40M in new players with a bit of potential, use the rest of the profits to fund losses (so that the owners do not have to)

Sell some of the new players in a few years time

Rinse and repeat

They must have known there was a high probability Baker would be recalled. Given recent interviews with Eustace, you can bet Swag and Suhail recognise the importance of backing him. But, and here’s the problem. Do they have the balls to clearly transmit the real situation clearly to Pune? My opinion, simply no. I genuinely hope I’m wrong and we will only know come the end of the window. But, if we don’t get this right, and Eustace walks due to lack of support, I’m fearful we are into a massive downward spiral.

Preston recently announced that their owners had to put in an eight figure amount to cover their losses again, its widespread across the league.

I hate to state the obvious here, but seeing as it’s you. Here goes…

At £200m in the red, I reckon Venkys probably understand the concept of having to spend more than they generate. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Whilst I wish they hadn’t decided to take a hiatus from pumping £20m a year in, your point is pretty odd considering the money already spent.

Disclaimer - I DO NOT LIKE THE VENKYS, THEY ARE TERRIBLE OWNERS AND NEED TO BE REPLACED ASAP.

We haven't got any Szmodics' or Wharton's left to sell.

New owners would still have to find that £10m (at least) plus cover annual operating losses for a while

Its what owners with a bit of gumption would have done last season.  Technically speaking Venkys could still do that now.  But they wont

They didn’t need to give permission for him to play in the FA cup.

Whilst I think you are correct as per rules and regs,  I would imagine there is essentially a "gentleman's agreement" that clubs check with the parent club before cup tying loan players, and whilst the club could technically (and legally) just play the player anyway, it may sour any future business relations between the 2 parties

Ignoring the repeated totally unnecessary patronising undertone.

My point was that basically all Championship owners have to pump money in. In fact, football clubs in general, apparently the only Premier League owners not to need to offset losses last year was West Ham due to their government subsidised stadium.

All I am saying is that it doesnt warrant credit. And I doubt that the fans of other clubs whose owners do the same even mention it, its just taken as a given. Share capital being raised to offset losses in the accounts to keep the company solvent, you own a football club, thats what you have to do.

Theyve only been able to "take a hiatus" from offsetting the losses in the 2024 accounts due to the fortune of having an academy graduate (so not even an asset theyve brought in) who emerged and generated a club record sale as 100% profit.

Theyve been clearly intent purely on reducing losses for a number of years. They still are but theyll still have to raise share capital in the 2025 accounts because we wont generate sufficient sales that will offset the losses.

We havent spent a fee of over £2m for over 5 years. There hasnt been year after year of pumping in money out of ambition.

You havent really disagreed with anything I have said. Im not sure what point you perceive that I have made that is odd.

Yeah we don't have them because none of their transfer fees was reinvested.

That's how idiotic our owners are

We had Szmodic because on that occasion they allowed us to spend more than £1 million on a transfer fee

Last 2 seasons have we gone above £1 million on a player?

We have 5 league games this month

no travis

 no pickering

no Ohashi

no baker

without early signings we are absolutely pissing against the wind

these fixtures (fairly kind) are the most important. We continue on this poor run come second week of feb we’re chasing when we have a chance NOW

Same old delusional comments online saying, "chill"..."theres time yet". For me probably the biggest game of the season next week. We're at home, game in hand, chance to get some confidence back and in those play offs....Vital we get attackers in before it, because as know we arnt scoring anytime soon with our current turd of attackers.
