Meh 134 appearances for boro

12 goals / 17 assists

for a wing forward attacking winger

think there’s better value out there for the 5million

Listen if we got him I wouldn’t turn my nose up at all I’m more being judgy on the price

Not sure the actual ability or value for money of the player is the main point here, which is those 2 Clubs obviously fancy him and think he will improve their fortunes and are making an effort accordingly whereas us.......

Thanks.

Do you know if players can be recalled instantly or if there is a minimum notice period?

The only rules regarding recall clauses are they’re only allowed in season long loans and the recall can only take place during the winter transfer window.

I presume, but don’t know, a notice period could be included in a loan agreement if both clubs agreed to it.

Cheers. I think I might have been looking at FIFA regs which seemingly required 28 days notice before you get get the player back.

So a week into the window we are minus 1 in terms of players. That is the risk you run with loan players and we have to accept it as it's out of our control. Signing players is within our control and we need to move quickly. Do I expect that to happen? Absolutely not.

-1 player, but our second highest earner off the books and I'm sure a nice fee from Stoke to terminate the loan.

So, spending spree incoming, right?

I hate to state the obvious here, but seeing as it’s you. Here goes…

At £200m in the red, I reckon Venkys probably understand the concept of having to spend more than they generate. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Whilst I wish they hadn’t decided to take a hiatus from pumping £20m a year in, your point is pretty odd considering the money already spent.

Disclaimer - I DO NOT LIKE THE VENKYS, THEY ARE TERRIBLE OWNERS AND NEED TO BE REPLACED ASAP.

Which is why we're baffled they won't cut their losses and sell if it's such a burden to them.

If there isn’t a recall clause a player can still be recalled (during a transfer window) if both of the clubs and the player agree to it.

The only additional caveat is this can’t happen in the first 28 days of the loan.

Could this be what you’re getting mixed up with?

At best there would still be quite a turn round period when not insubstantial losses would be incurred and need to be covered imo.

Like nearly every Championship club you mean?

Why do you say second highest earner? Is Baker our second highest earner? According to what source?

If we took on his wages from Stoke he would have been amongst our highest earners.

Stoke wanted a transfer fee for him in thr summer so I'd personally be surprised if they let us have him without taking on his wage

It’s not like we’re stuck for right wing backs though is it. Regarding Baker going back, the chicken chokers probably think Garrett is a ready made replacement.

He’s played most of those games at right back, how many goals/assists has Brittain got for us? 😬

If we’ve got £5 million to spend it needs to go towards the strike force.

At this point, no idea what you're on about.

Original point:

"Savvy owners wouldn't need to fund losses"

To which I disagreed and to which you now seem to be agreeing with me. I'll leave it there.

Omg

Your posts suggest without Venkys there would be nobody else to cover the losses.

Kent exile replied a more savvy owner wouldn't be losing as much money and would have used parts of the Wharton and Szmodic fee to reinvest and bring in other assets that can be sold for profit down the line.

Our owners don't do that though and it is 100% on them, not Waggott, not Pasha...the venkys !

Aunty, balls, uncle.

You're talking about something completely different to the point I was trying to make.

If it was that simple to guarantee promotion every club in the division would spend another £10 or £20 million.

not every set of owners is rich enough. Ours are

Listen John, I know you wanted names through the door and we've just lost Lewis but listen.  We've got O'Grady-Macken - that's 2, arguably 3 whole names there.  Think of the savings in the wage bill
