eustace needs to change shape a bit,we`ve got to be more of an attacking threat, even if it`s sitting really deep and breaking out on the counter

We haven't got the speed for a counter attacking game. An ideal example occurred in the first half, yesterday. Dolan got the ball on the half-way line and ran towards the Sheff Utd defenders, he knew he was neither skillful enough, or fast enough to beat the defender, so he hit it aimlessly into the box, and Sheff Utd regained possession.

in dolans case it`s a matter of intelligence rather than speed,i can recall the example you just stated and it was clear the defender had him covered, instead of holding the ball up,he did indeed just lump it aimlessly in the box.the lad has no footballing brain ,tbh id`e put brittain in dolans position, absolve him of defending cos he can`t and tell him to get some crosses and through balls in,he is pretty good going forwards, just a nightmare defensively

Something needs to change, we can’t carry with the current system. If we were to play two up front I’d start with Gueye and Ohashi.

Don't think he'll change much,we badly need a win and the Pears plus a back 6 brought us 5 on the bounce.

I'm thinking he'll go same again, hoping that it was the quality of the recent opposition that was the problem, especially Sheff Utd.

Beat Stoke and we're back into very good start territory. Lose and it might be time for a change of tack

The issue might be that he cant change much due simply to a lack of quality in attacking positions. But he should see trying to change the attack as a pressing concern, we have 2 goals in 6 games, no sane footballing man sees the likes of Hedges and Dolan and thinks that they have the quality to turn things around.

That's my thinking - a change is needed as we're creating nothing. I wouldn't be opposed to Guaye and Leonard.

Edit: or Guaye and Ohashi

Hedges has been poor, Dolan is as likely to be as good as anyone else, or as poor as anyone else.

Why he's being cast as the anti-Christ I don't know.

Need to try something new for the upcoming matches. Struggling to play out from the back at the moment, maybe switch to a back three since we don't possess any wingers with pace. My starting XI vs Stoke (3-4-1-2):

                               Pears

              Batth     Hyam    Pickering

 Brittain       Buckley     Tronstad      Beck

                             Cantwell

                     Gueye      Ohashi

JRC and Hedges can replace the wing-back positions when legs get tired. Buckley to operate as a deep-lying playmaker to offer help during transitions from defence to attack. Combination of target man (Gueye) - playmaker (Cantwell) - runner (Ohashi) up front should be able to create some chances on the counter. As for Dolan, he can have a rest and ponder further whether he wants to sign a new contract or leave by the end of season.

Maybe because of all the bad players, he is the worst, in a lot of  peoples eyes. I think you are going overboard with your anti-christ comment. For me he is just a very poor pro footballer.

Why was siggy not in the squad v Sheffield United?

I'd give him  a start over Hedges if he's fit. I'm becoming impatient watching Hedges and Dolan tbh.

Rumour over on another thread was he refused to play for the under 21s and has been banished.

I'd prefer to change the shape to a back 3 to utilise brittain and Becks width and attacking threat due to our lack of decent wingers.

That said we are pretty good defensively in the current shape so if we are insisting on 4-2-3-1 you'd be looking at siggurdson in on the left and cantwell at 10. Neither Weimann, dolan or Hedges really deserves to start and at the moment only offer work rate /defensively work.

I'd be going:

                        Pears

       Hyam.  Batth.  Pickering

Brittain.   Buckley.  Tronstad.   Beck

                        Cantwell

              Ohashi.      Leonard

We need a win because its getting very tight in this League. We're in a false position at 7th.

5 points less and we'd be among the relegation candidates.

Thanks goodness we had a good start but its evaporating quite quickly now.

The criticism he receives is out of proportion, there is no doubt.

That is your opinion. Mine is the opposite. But as has been stated on many occasions, everyone is entitled to theirs.
