joey_big_nose
About as good a first half as you could ask for except for not scoring and then conceding a gilt edged chance... Totally dominant. Hope we can keep it going second half and manage to convert... But could just as easily go down to a sloppy goal. Gah.

I'll give you Portsmouth. It is not just about certain positions. It was a question of the entire eleven. League positions tell a story. Backroom Tom Posted November 6, 2024 Backroom Share Posted November 6, 2024 Think we’ve played pretty well, Cantwell the obvious standout but Ohashi looking lively as well
roversinmyblood
We should have made all the good play and possession count.

His opportunity came through JDT Nothing about that comparison is factually incorrect You said Szmodics improved under Mowbray. He never played for him. That’s what’s called a factual inaccuracy. rovers11
Our best half for a while but very little cutting edge. Cantwell has been very good. I really don't know how Hedges continues to start games. He's dreadful. Despite being dominant, we should be one down. They missed a sitter. Pears trying to play out from the play and his inability to command his box at corners, or even make an attempt to come out for the ball, could cost us this game. They look dangerous at set pieces.
RevidgeBlue
392 minutes without a goal. Sooner or later Eustace is going to have to throw caution to the wind and get 2 forwards on up front. If he won't do it at home against a middle to lower ranking side it's difficult to say when he will do it.

yankfan
All in all a good first half. They offered little threat, but for all the good we did the final ball in the box has been the stuff of nightmares. Hedges has to come off. But who’s the alternative? Dolan? Tyjon? OsloRover
Good half that. Cantwell, Ohashi and Batth the standouts for me. Our wing play however makes me want to recall Markanday.
joey_big_nose
What about swapping Hedges for Leonard? Think of the few options we have that seems the best.
booth
"Pickering and Brittain start" 😬 Brittain, the second coming of Keith Andrews. Pickering, the second coming of Julie Andrews. Angry_Pirate
You could write a book called "The art of promising attacking football and fucking it up", and just show that half. Delaying passes, taking FOREVER to attempt a shot, wrong decision after wrong decision, oh, and some downright shite technique. If Stoke would have rocked up at Leeds or Burnley with that performance, it'd be 3-0, at least. Stoke should also be embarrassed by what they've shown that half, time wasting from kick-off. 1 minute of added time could have easily been 8. Of course, if/when they win 0-1 they'll call it masterful. What a waste of a first half of promise. In regards of the Mowbray compassion I was speaking about the other players who I’d mentioned prior, thought that would have been obvious given we’re in a fan forum so we’re all probably pretty clued up with who played under what manager. The latter was a generalisation of my initial post. but if all you can add is that it’s a factual inaccuracy I guess that’s great insight 👍

Mercer
You simply have to score after a relatively decent first half like that. Cantwell again our lone quality offensive threat though Ohashi looking more lively. Again, Hedges anonymous with Weimann not too far behind in the anonymity stakes. Hope I'm wrong but game has a familiar tone - 1-0 Stoke through a set piece.
Aqualung
If we were to be awarded a penalty at some stage I wonder who the designated penalty taker would be? Tempting fate!
West Yorks Rover
Millwall 1-0 up at home to Leeds, doing well at the moment, won their last 3 before tonight too. Back to Ewood, I have a bad feeling that ex PNE Cannon will score for them and they'll win 1-0. He's only played 9 games but has scored 5 goals, although must be said , Stoke have only scored once away in 6 games.

Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted November 6, 2024 Moderation Lead Share Posted November 6, 2024 The look on Cantwell’s face after Ohashi just didn’t read his intent, I think was his realisation that everyone else is much worse than him….
