v Stoke City (h) - 6/11/2024

That was absolute garbage. Dominant display in terms of being the team with highest intensity/momentum but the end product in final third was abysmal. Concerning that Eustace seems to be just as stubborn as JDT was regarding tactics/formation, only went for two strikers during the last 5-10 minutes. I just don't see any structure in attack, players doesn't really seem to know where to run or how to create space between the lines. Hedges takes too many touches, Gueye missed a sitter, Ohashi slips when through on goal and Hyam with a horrific back-pass causing trouble for Batth who in turn caused the penalty. Comedic stuff at times but it's getting depressing at this point. Mid-table finish will be seen as a mere bonus, avoiding relegation is a must but I fear the worst this time around. Can't really explain why but feels like the club has incorporated a loser mentality over the years; they fold when it matters the most.

There were some good performances in the team today. Problem A is end product and problem B is bodies in the box. We really strive to keep our shape, and also have to, as we're so vulnerable on the break. I am angry and disappointed about the result, but have to try and look at the match tonight objectively. Objectively Stoke deserved nothing, but we at least have to score one fucking goal in order to win matches.

Appreciate the comments but ultimately you need quality to solve problem A and B. Agree, tonight was better - but still poor at home against a side who haven’t scored many away and a number of places below us in the table. We have to keep our shape as we aren’t very good and Eustace is so tactically rigid/naive.

That said, you can’t help Gueye missing an open net and Yuki falling over.

He's been the fortunate beneficiary of a more organised back line this season.
But make no mistake, he is a liability and will continue to be a liability.

I have no idea if Toth is actually any good, but working on the basis that he's not Pears, I'm willing to give him a go.

As for the other end, just play Leonard and Tyjon. Both are kids, but already streets ahead of Gay and Ohashi.

He won't play two strikers.

He'll play two painfully slow midfielders on the wing whilst an out of their depth forward is in the middle on their own, but two strikers would be blasphemy.

Yeah, let’s stick with Gueye.

Don’t think you can play either

think the formation needs to be changed to a 4-2-3-1 because we don’t have capable wingers

I think until we can change personnel in January you go Dolan/ Sigurddson - cantwell - ohashi in behind - he hasn’t been great but he is our only player with a somewhat championship goal record in andi weimann up top. It’s a horrible situation to be in but we are never scoring unless we change something

think we are massively missing beck- carter and the Brighton lad , they would all be starters for us

Dolan's shot was going in the top corner. Keeper got his finger tips to it, just. Great shot. Brilliant save

Give over.

Great effort, decent save at a convenient height.

losing to a stoke side who are the epitome  of mediocre  after having so much of the ball means are officially in trouble

eustace definately needs to come up with a system of getting more players forwards and getting behind the opposition

anyone making the marathon trip to cardiff on saturday is a ****** hero, maximum respect, though i doubt we`ll get anything against a resurgent cardiff

I'm still trying to come to terms with Gueye's miss. I think Archimedes would struggle to explain the angle the ball came off his head

I said on the ground, if you got 10 top strikers to line up and head that cross down and over the bar from there they wouldnt be able to manage it. The angles don’t compute.

Really need to get AMD back fit and give him a run of games. We'll probably see the same starting eleven away at Cardiff first though, with Dolan out through suspension.

Let's get Pentium up and running as well shall we

As Rudy just explained, not Venky’s fault - we can’t just go out and spend 40mill because that money will be received in instalments over a few years😇 believe my 4 year old daughter would see through this. That interview likely reflects Rovers owner/management’s intellectual level atm - scary stuff.

They're punching there as well.

Mind telovic missing a sitter of a header against was it Birmingham? Never recovered. I don’t think we should see him in a Blackburn shirt again , he isn’t this level , even a bad one

We should sell him to Stoke.
