We know about the misses late on, but there's other elements that piss me off from yesterday.

First goal. Travis is coming back from behind play and can see everyone in front of him. You can see the eventual goalscorer in front of him.

So what's he now doing here. He's just run into space, not looking and god knows what he pointing at. It's no wonder the guy has so much time and space to turn and shoot.

Then for the chance they had shortly after which Pears saves, watch Britain. The minute they break over the half way line he is  just jogging back. He breaks into a quicker trot briefly and then just gives up. Shocking attitude. We know from the final days of JDT that he was one of the first in the rubber dinghy.

Like to point out that for all the ability that Cantwell has, he too blazed high and wide with a clear shot of goal in the first half. Also I also think a reason he is at a middle of championship team is his severe lack of pace, just like the rest of the team.

And when I say lack of pace in the team it isn't just physical it is in thought too. Passes seen to slow, pace of pass, decisions when to move or tackle it is just all too slow.

In a nutshell that, I believe is the real issue. Pace isn't about being able to run 100 metres in 10 seconds. It's more about speed of thought, quick passing, vision and not taking too many touches. We are so easy to play against most of the time as we allow teams to get back into their defensive shape as we pass the ball across the back four and short passes into midfield ad nauseam. This is the fundamental difference between Tomasson and Eustace for me. I really don't mind what style we play it we are getting results. Questions are asked when an almost one dimensional way of playing doesn't yield results. The accusation levelled against Tomasson by many was that he had no plan B. Eustace is in real danger of that label being attached to him too. I really thought we were going to see a variation on this last night as in the first twenty minutes the long diagonal ball looked the most likely source. After that period I don't think we played another one.

Incredibly harsh. How can Ohashi cost us a goal by accidentally slipping in the Stoke penalty area? On both occasions Stoke had a lot to do but how about several players not closing down for the first goal and an awful pass from Hyam for the second coupled with Baath running in sand. Blame Ohashi and Gueye for missing chances by all means but to lay the concession of both goals at their door is frankly ridiculous.

It started from that, so yeh, if he doesn't slip over on goal the ball doesn't go down the other end. Literally nobody around him, I don't understand how hes slipping over in that situation. When that longs gone in the game, you should know whether your football boots are good enough to stand on the pitch your playing on. Its embarrassing tbh. Goals change games. When you make a mistake in goal or at the back theres a chance you will concede, but you cant keep clean sheets every week. Hes had enough opportunities lately starting quite a few games in a row. Last night he made plenty of mistakes, and that one slipping over cost us down the other end. You have to start taking responsibility if you waste chances and turn over possession consistently. Cant expect to get bailed out time after time if you dont do you job down the other end. We have a lot of players that turn over the ball which puts under pressure to defend. Hedges, Dolan, Yuki all are usual suspects for giving over possession, when you do that you have to defend. Cant keep bailing these players out. If that was Cantwell I would of had sympathy as he usually finds a pass or keeps possession well, but hedges Yuki and Dolan need to start looking after the ball better, its all well an good losing possession if things your trying to do come off half the time, but unfortunately they aren't for the likes of them.

He had a shot in the first half that hit the 2nd tier of the blackburn end stand, he had chances to score yesterday, gets offside a bit, mis place passes, 2nd half where cantwell passed him the ball down the side he stopped, and a promising attack rolled out of play. Slipping over through on goal. Against sheff utd he had a chance to lay in Cantwell, was an easy 5 yard pass and he over hits it out for a goal kick. His lack of quality in the final 3rd and turning over possession starts to hurt when he isn't scoring goals. Plymouth away he had a couple chances, one was a glorious opportunity when he came on and took so long he didn't get a shot off, which was virtually a 1 on 1.

Bit of a over long rant on him, which is probably harsh as he does work hard, but its to show a point that he turns over possession more than others which eventually starts to hurt the team, its not a 1 off.  Hopefully its a confidence issue. But its not all down to him. But on this scenario hes to blame when you see him constantly turning over possession so cheaply.

That was one that I remember, there may be more.

I know this might hurt but didn't we beat Stoke in Eustace's first game playing from the Darwen End first. I seem to remember Ennis scoring in the Blackburn End as a consolation but cannot remember if it was first or second half?

Players slipping embarrassing? Come on it can happen anytime to any player. You could point to every goal that is conceded and apportion blame but a player slipping on a damp surface is a new one on me. As I said ridiculously harsh particularly when Stoke had to go pretty much the length of the pitch.

However you rate him or don't be is still statistically our best striker. It reads like you have written him off already.

Defending deep as we appear to have been trained to by the current staff. We often feel on top of our goalkeeper when a team attacks. It looks to me like the message is get deep and drop behind the ball when out of possession. I thought the same on their cutback that should have been put away.

It’s a massively different game. In the U-21’s game Barrett in goal had more touches than any outfield player. He had probably ten times more touches than the wingers. We were just knocking it around the back four and the keeper for way too long. You could see the Dale players streaming back to get into position whilst we fannyed around with the ball.
Then they’d play it forward to a midfield player invariably running back towards our goal who would be unable to turn with the ball because they were all marked up by then.  So they would either play it back again to the centre halves/keeper or square to the full backs.

It was awful to watch and completely ineffectual.  Pep has a lot to answer for.

if you have xavi, iniesta and messi it`s a dream to watch😁

Mm, most of it was boring. Watching Spain play back in those days was like watching a submarine race.

I appreciate the technical ability, they were top notch skill wise, but it didn’t get me out of my seat.

I’m struggling to understand the Cantwell criticism. That shot into the BBE was poor but he was the only positive of the night. He did exactly what you want a creative midfielder to do. It’s just no-one could finish any of it off.

His best league season is only ever 7 league goals in the SPL. If you think he’s banging 15+ league goals it’s not happening. That’s not what he does.

Yeah he's a creative midfielder, not a fucking wizard. He's absolutely light years ahead of anyone else in the team.

Not his fault that he served it up on a plate to someone who managed to head the ball down on the ground for it to then bounce over the bar, all within the six yard box.

I'm still laughing about that now it was funny as fuck.

I think the Blackburn End are getting tired of the goal drought, stick it in the net, and end the criticism.

i`ve never seen anything like that, all gueye had to do was stand there and let the ball hit his head,no need to jump, stretch or put your head on the ball ,the cross was so perfect all he had to do was stand there and let the ball do the work, must have panicked and contrived to miss the unmissable😮

I might have to watch it again. I was laughing when I watched it live. I bet he couldn't do that again if he tried.

Truly amazing.

Ohashi started off so composed with us, the dink v derby, the brave equaliser at Norwich , the two crackers v Bristol city but he has hit a wall now and his finishing has looked anything like composed. It’s a relationship that’s turning sour very quickly after a great start , don’t know if he needs a rest or what but we need him to find his scoring boots again because our other option is a disaster
