v Cardiff City (a) - 9/11/2024

This feels like it will either be a game where Rovers find their scoring boots or they turn out a horrific performance and lose handsomely to a resurging Cardiff side.

My heart says a 2-1 win....but my head says it'll be 3-0 to Cardiff and it'll all go horribly wrong.

I'd like to see a 4-3-3 of sorts. Would like to see Baker given a chance (we know he has a shot on him after all), while I think Ohashi could do a job slightly wider of the front 3, allowing Leonard to come in, and then its a toss up between Dolan, Weimann, JRC, Tyjon, or the tea lady for the other attacking position.

                       Pears

Brittain    Batth    Hyam    Beck (if fit)

        Travis   Cantwell    Baker

      Ohashi    Leonard    Dolan

With our pedestrian defence we will always offer a chance or two up to our opponents so for me I would like to see Eustace revert to a back five which was quite successful in a few away matches last season. I will happily shake on a 0-0 right now.

Rovers don't seem to be able to handle the 3 games in 8 days' cycle.

A long journey to Cardiff in Waggott's glorified charabanc wont help either.

Offensively we are impotent and it's difficult to see us scoring let alone netting more than one goal.

We are struggling big time and in 'freefall' and are now just 4 points away from the bottom 3 - let that sink in.  We are in another relegation fight.

Cardiff by at least 2 goals but even a fourth consecutive loss wont deter the 'happy clappers' and their plethora of hard luck stories and blue sky scenarios.

The soft underbelly and fragile mentality that has plagued us for over a decade since this ownership got stuck into its deconstruction job remains to this day.

You could put Chuck Norris in charge of this club and the team would still flounder until they all realise that IF you have ambition you have to scrap and scrape every min of every single game, not keep using  ready made generic excuses , too many games in short time, travelling, shit ref etc etc

This is probably the worst game we could have at this moment in time it's all set up to fail and just shrug the shoulders.

Cardiff   3     Rovers  0

Something needs to change. We’re back to leaking goals again.

I don’t like knocking young players but Leonard is just the new Jack Vale. He’s not the answer. It’ll be like playing with ten.

Thankfully busy so don't have to see us get battered 4-0 in this one. I wonder how long we can go before we finally score, anyone know the current record?

Not sure what the current record is but we had this nice little horror run of 2 goals in 11 games under Mowbray a couple of years back....

Oh my word, I had forgotten all about that run. Classic Mowbray death spiral it was, completely derailed what was a very strong push for the playoffs beforehand. That 0-1 home defeat to Bristol City, didn't Dack miss a penalty on his long awaited return from injury, and Andy Weimann scored the winner?

When Brereton was shamelessly avoiding injury.

Nah Brereton was legit injured at this point, you might be thinking of the season after under JDT.

At lease we now know that Eustace is safe, even if we fail to sore in the next 4.

When you're on a bad run and confidence is really low a trip to Cardiff looks daunting. But this pales into insignificance when I saw who the referee is for Saturday.

Gavin f***ing Ward.

It's going to be a long day.
