How does Dolan get 5 yellow cards ? He hasn’t got a tackle in him.

That was one of the things that stood out when Dyche was running things at the Dingledome. They very rarely lost players because they got on the wrong side of the officials. That was in spite of them being a physical team. Since he’s gone they’re just like every other team in that respect.

I learnt a long while ago that if you lose your place in the team it can take time to get it back. Meanwhile you’re kicking your heels and waiting.

Mainly moaning at the ref and things like kicking the ball away/standing over the ball to prevent a quick free kick.  The moaning is just silly, but preventing a quick free kick/break is commonplace and obviously encouraged by managers as an equivalent of committing a foul to stop a quick break and "taking one for the team"

According to the same article, Cantwell is also sailing close to a ban (4 yellows so far), I would imagine this is for much the same reasons

Dolan also does the occasional sneaky trip, when a player's dispossesses him. It's not for an overly aggressive full blooded tackle.

Dolan got another yellow card, because the ref was from stoke.

We can't mix it up though now it seems we have to either go for it and stay on the front foot or sit deep defend and look to counter and pinch something or settle for the draw.

As iv'e said before it's a bit like the Bowyer days but without Rhodes i think if he set out to draw every game we'd get a result against all the bang average or poor sides.

We seem good at draws !

When we score goals, we play some classy football capable of beating any team in the championship. We need to practice more on the training ground, on sticking the ball in the back of the net. 0-2 Rovers, I'm backing them to stop the rot.

Where are the Goals coming from though?

You forget, so do the opposition. I have seen many a sneaky trip, when they've been dispossessed.

We've neen unlucky a few times this season & tonights game at Watford reminds me again.

Another hand ball that could easily been a penalty in Watford v Oxford. Not a penalty is correct decision, yet we were punished when ball hit Hedges' hand after bouncing off a Watford player's back in October.

 Cardiff 1 Rovers 2

I’ve stated previously I’m not a fan of Cantwell, having watched lots of SPL (large parts of my family are Celtic) I’ve seen TC flatter to deceive with the ball on the halfway for a couple of years.

That said he looks competent with the ball in the championship, albeit mainly in areas that aren’t hurting the opposition. Now I’m not blaming our run of form on his inclusion in the team but we obviously need to find a way of winning with him in it. That starts with him either being played deep to build attacks or playing higher up and staying there as this free role means we have often have Tronstad, Travis and Cantwell all building in deep areas. Leaving us with a wonky looking 4-3-2-1 (at best), given how Beck and Brittain are instructed to stay high this is causing problems with the ball coming back at us so quickly with depleted numbers high up centrally.

Injuries at CB are making it difficult to play any formation with 3 at the back, and the gaping chasm that is the quality between Pickering and Beck has also caused a problem.

3-4-3 with MacFazdean anyone?

To play that system the one thing required is just one of the thing we lack..........pace. The width both offensively and in defence comes from the wingbacks means they need to get up and down the wings quickly. The back three has just lost a race against a snail.

If I was going to play 3 at the back, it would be 3-5-2 or even 3-6-1 with Pickering rather than MacFazdean in the left defender position, and Cantwell the freedom of the park.

I know Im going to villifed for this but I'd also use Hedges at RWB as I feel his best games for Rovers in this position
