So far today we've had interviews with Eustace, JRC and Buckley all talking about how much the fans are needed and encouraging people to turn up tomorrow, they've given 500 tickets away to kids They've announced half season tickets at being on sale (£249 per adult), I think people are asking questions about the drop in numbers turning up. £250 minimum, £309 in the JWU. If they honestly think rolling out the likes of half arsed Buckley is going to get folk charging towards the ticket office (oh wait, they can’t, it’s never open) website at that insane pricing, then they are even more puddled down there than I thought. Long journey for us, think we've sold 1,900 tickets, so should be a good atmosphere. Our performances have improved of late, and with our main striker set to start his first game this season after heart surgery, I'd be happy with a draw. You're welcome to join our pompey forum if you fancy debating and talking about the match with rival fans. We're a friendly bunch and you'd be welcome. https://www.thepompey.uk/ Good luck for the season. Fantastic following given the distance and weather. Respect!! When are you setting off? RevidgeBlue
Lashing down with sleet/rain this morning. Wouldn't be at all surprised if we're called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Not to defend anyone but isn't the drop in attendances compared to last season pretty much all down to the new sky tv deal and the daft kick off times?
Mattyblue
Home area crowds haven’t dropped this season. Once Leeds, Sunderland, Dingles, PNE visit I’d imagine we’ll finish the season with the highest average attendance since 2012, a low bar, obviously but current crowds are just back to where they were c2014 time - I.e we are stagnant as the rest of the league has seen gates rise exponentially this past decade. arbitro
If the game is likely to be in jeopardy then surely an early inspection has to be done to prevent the 2000 Pompey fans a wasted journey. The match referee should be staying locally so getting him in shouldn't be a problem. And any updates about planned and further inspections should be put out on the various social media channels available immediately. Hopefully Rovers have taken the necessary precautions by covering the pitch so the overnight snow shouldn't be a problem. Then the covers should be kept on until 2 pm with the heavy rain predicted to abate by around 3 pm.

Remember the Milwall fiasco a couple of seasons ago. If they call it off it will be after 2pm.

As soon as the weather forecast was seen as a potential problem the dialogue should have started.

Uddersfelt Blue
No doubt they will have to wait until the match referee arrives for any decision to be made. If he’s travelling then the pitch inspection could be later rather than sooner. Not much good for the Pompey fans who will be en route. Old Codger
It will be down to whether the pitch has been covered, and if there is functioning under-soil heating. We've had a few days of hard frost in the area, and a fair amount of snow overnight. Although it is raining here, and forecast for heavy rain until 3pm, the issue will be hard / icy patches on the playing surface, and the ability for surface water to drain away. Any normal club would have been all over this from daylight, especially as a courtesy to fans travelling 284 miles (5 hours minimum) in large numbers for a game mid afternoon. But Rovers aren't a 'normal' club... so that might not go so well. On the up side, the outside temperature is rising rapidly, so perhaps things will right themselves, pitch-wise as the day goes on. It will be a soggy and blustery affair, whatever happens, if it goes ahead.
