Portsmouth haven't won in their last 9 away games... of those 9 away games, they've actually lost their last 5 in a row. (1 in the cup against Wycombe)

They're currently in the bottom 3.

Tonight, they're away at high-flying Blackburn Rovers; who will go 5th if they win.

We know how this goes guys, seen it too many times.

0-2 Portsmouth.

When you’re not scoring enough goals you’re always susceptible to results like that.

You've nailed it there.  The Rovers motto should be "Ipso facto", not Arte et Labore

How about starting with Leonard and Weiman upfront.

Not a bad shout and probably the best role for Weimann. He's skilful and has an eye for goal but his legs are going and his mobility not what it used to be, so he's of limited use in midfield.

He needs to heed that himself though, recently, maybe against Burnley he was lazily offside when he didn’t need to be before squaring it to Gueye who was in a great position to finish.

All he had to do was stay onside at it was a goal

I don't disagree, to be honest he was all out of sorts against them and probably shouldn't have played.

I don't think the constant chopping and changing of attacking options has helped Cantwell build up much of an understanding either. Obviously injuries have played a part in this.

Rovers first team kicks off at home to Pompey 45 minutes after the women kick off at home to Pompey. Going to be fun seeing 44 players on the same pitch in the first half...

if it’s as foggy at Ewood this evening as it is in Blackpool just now, you’ll be lucky to see any players at all.

Got a bad feeling about this game, we were in better form at the time of the original fixture and can't help thinking our lethargy in going after our transfer targets will cost us dearly.

They will come and give it a go. If we sit  back and wait for them to roll over it won’t happen and they’ll play themselves into the game. We need to be at it right from the off. Fail to do that and it’ll be a long night. Their previous poor away record will count for nothing if we make it comfortable for them.
I’m really disappointed that we’re still waiting to sign a striker.

We had lost 5 out of our previous 8 at the time of the original game, although had just won 3-1 at Cardiff the game before.

Nah game in the bag for us tonight Hull was on a new manager bounce, Portsmouth however are not.

COYB 2-0 Rovers

Gueye and Cantwell to score both in first half.

Gueye won't be starting.

Looks like Weimann is up top

A possible "get me a striker now" plea from JE?

For me this is a must win game if we're serious about getting out of this league. As others have said, Portsmouth have horrendous away form, which means in all expectation is we're going to make a dog's dinner of it.

Let's hope we get the 3 points!

Just looked at extended highlights of recent Portsmouth games. There is no doubt that their defence bring gifts and have become expert at last ditch emergency rescue!

Callum Lang is a very good winger who comes inside and scores regularly. Josh Murphy looks as quick as his brother at Newcastle.

Almost all Pompey goals have come from the sort of opposition mistakes we are suffering less frequently this season (except at Coventry) aided by Pompey deploying a very effective high press.

If we suck them in and pass the ball quickly and accurately through midfield we should have joy this evening. If we trap ourselves playing it around too much at the back with Pompey pressing us we will be inviting trouble. If in doubt, find Row Z and regroup. Too many recent teams playing Pompey haven't done that and paid the price.
