Lettuce agree that Eustace is playing ketchup with signings.  And that his signings have to be mustard otherwise it will cheese people off

My takeaway from the season so far is that it feels great to be firmly in the top 6 and not gherkin around mid table. If the venkys don’t back him then they can burger off. I heard from a good sauce that we’ll be strengthening the squad soon.

26 games, 11 clean sheets. Brilliant how we are so committed and organised defensively. I love our centre half's and full backs.

Let's be honest, we've had the rub of the green today. They should have scored first half and should have had a penalty second half. We lose this game on a different day.

But i'm a Rovers fan so I dont care. Brilliant from Cantwell and Brittain 2nd half. Gueye and ACD made a big difference. Sanderson looked robust and Forshaw looked tidy.

Good effort from the Portsmouth fans.

I see your point but we should have been 2 up at that stage, Weimann and Hyam both should have scored before that Pompey chance. Was very surprised with Weimanns lob attempt.

Take the win and move on. Still need bodies through the door, Buckley and Hedges cannot be in the starting 11. Subs made all the difference but can't rely on that too often. Delighted with the 3 points.

Penalty,  Penalty,  offside.

3 for us, 0 for them.

Love it! I'll sleep soundly tonight without an ounce of guilt.

What goes around, comes around.....finally.

Well done the players that have capitalised on some favourable decisions with style.

Feels like we’re getting a few this season. Our goal at Boro away was a yard offside too - long may it continue!

Proper happy for big mak thought he had a good game, did his job bagged one almost bagged another.

Brittain...well thought was gonna take the net off solid as ever coped well under pompies high positioning.

Some lessons to learn from this one.

Win, points in the bag, up to 5th

We march on.

Jokes about the big man aside I think tonight is more proof of how Pape is best utilised in these scenarios, defence starts getting tired and here he comes all arms and legs causing chaos

He is useful, raw as it gets and he will always frustrate no doubt but there is a role for him here. Side bar but how shite was Telalovic? Pape certainly a massive improvement on "that"😂

For 60 mins that was the worst we’ve played this season. Buckler, Cantwell, zHedges anf Dolan stunk the place out.

Then Big Mak came on and turned the game on its head. ACD’s dummy for the second was FILTHY, as Cantwell finally clicked into gear.

Standouts - The back four were excellent again. Brittain the pick and a worthy MOM.

i fuckin love our manager. I haven’t said that for a long time!

Absolutely terrible for 55-60 minutes. Then the changes especially Gueye changes the game and aided by a referee massively working in our favour, a comfortable win against a poor side in the end.

Gueye's header was very good, he clearly can attack a ball in the air if you get him the supply. Also thought some of his link play etc was very good. He missed an absolute sitter with his feet and he is clearly a really poor finisher but luckily Weimann bundled it him. He is a player with very specific strengths and is best suited as a sub but very pleased to see him get a goal and changed a game that look destined to drift.

Hedges is absolutely crap, if we give him a new deal we have lost our mind. Dolan was brighter than him but still not great and Weimann also looked like a player over the hill, poor miss in the first half and very slow, but he does have a knack still of sniffing out chances and goals. Cantwell was really struggling but the subs helped to give him a lot more to work with and we saw a couple of moments of brilliance. Cozier Duberry gives us something far more dynamic and his dummy was brilliant. Buckley as expected rubbish and Tronstad wasnt at his usual levels, I dont think his midfield partner helped him.

Brittain was excellent and his progression under Eustace has been very good, especially defensively but what a finish. Beck was again very good, Batth was very good and Hyam was good too. Pears made a huge mistake which could have cost us dearly but he got away with it, especially with a potential penalty waved away.

Excellent result, especially considering how bad we were in that first half.

Dolan, Hedges, Cantwell and Weimann totally ineffective in that first 45.

Credit to JE, he made the changes and Gueye and ACD had a good impact. Cantwell came to life and even Weimann was on hand to make up for  woeful first half with a goal.

Can't get my head around the stick Callum Brittain has had on here, a superb right back and has probably been our best player this season. Delighted he got a (well taken) goal.

Back up to 5th 💪

Way it works for us we are probably getting all our luck in one game though!

Tbh, I'm not sure that was offside, need to see it again. And I did see the second penalty claim again, no pen for me. Didn't see the first claim.

Edit - scratch that, definitely offside, not sure how the linesman missed it.

Was being a bit tongue in cheek.

The pens were close calls, particularly in the Championship without var. I probably thought the first was worst, he wasn't really attempting to get the ball,  just blatantly pushed him.

I'd have been mad the other way round.

I’ve just spent an unreasonable amount of time looking at the below:

And despite my earlier assertions, I’ve missed their right back being far too deep and playing Gueye on. Think it is onside, in the end. Here’s the moment the ball is played:
