My point was not a criticism of roverandout, just me commenting on how weak we are in that position. Hall struggles to get a regular game, Davis is not the best defensively and unproven at the top level. Wont make a difference against crap sides in pointless games. Impacted us in the summer and will going forward in big games. 1 Quote

I would look to blood Davis or Hall and actually look 2 years down the line and say this is our left back for world cup 2026 Quote
roversfan99 Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 There just seems to be a total absence of English left backs of a reasonable standard. Either Hall or Davis would have to prove themselves at Premier League level before we can think of giving them a run in the England team. Quote
chaddyrovers Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 (edited) or you back one and say this is our left back now and in the future. plan head for the world cup.. What happens if people like Lewis or Shaw are injury and not available for the world cup. Are you going to pick Hall or Davis in March 2026? Edited October 4, 2024 by chaddyrovers Quote
roversfan99 Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 How can you possibly put all of your eggs in the basket of someone yet to even prove himself at Premier League level? Neither warrants a regular England spot. Quote

riverholmes Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 Yesterday, English-born Greek player, George Baldock, was found dead in the swimming pool of his house in Athens at around 8.30 pm, BST. Today, Greece play England and, apparently, UEFA refused Greece's request for postponement due to the difficulties of rescheduling the match. I don't know the logistics of the fixtures, nor the details of Greece's request, but this again suggests that football has got it very wrong that a game can't be rescheduled to honour the request of bereaved teammates. There's no room in the schedule. If the Greeks wanted it postponed. They should have forfeited the game 3 Quote
bazza Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 Crap ref already. Gives yellow card in 6th minute for a nondescript foul. Pillock! 1 Quote

Ianrally Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 Well that first half was exciting wasn’t it? England players acting like they are one of the top teams in the World. I don’t think so. Quote
AllRoverAsia Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 A late England corner kick from the Rovers set piece playbook. We've put more crosses into the box that usual, just a problem when Gordon is the target. Quote
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 We look very vulnerable at the back. Quote

roversfan99 Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 People always say how brilliant our side is on paper but tonight is the perfect example of what happens when you try and stick our best players in together. In 1 or 2 positions there is an embarassment of riches but across the team there are big weaknesses hence why we get beat when we play anyone good. Quote
Ianrally Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 I hope Watkins will make the difference, maybe not though. Quote
simongarnerisgod Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 watched 10 minutes, players don`t seem that enamoured about the game, more than likely they don`t want to be injured in a pointless game, the season is starting to warm up and they hinder the schedule by having this pointless game Quote
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 I’d forgotten Foden was playing. Quote
ABBEY Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 (edited) no strikers ..you reap what you sow. bullshit to playing all playmakers if no strikers. Edited October 10, 2024 by ABBEY 3 Quote
RevidgeBlue Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 Serves Carsley right for trying to be a smart arse and starting with all this false 9 bollux. Overall I just get the sense that Carsley lacks the gravitas to motivate and intimidate this squad of players. If Guardiola was in charge they wouldn't be making themselves unavailable for selection or be performing like this, meaningless competition or not. 2 Quote
Andy Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 Greece should be 3-0 or 4-0 up - and deserved so, this is absolutely horrific. Even Lee Carsley surely didn't believe that Lee Carsley was the right man for this job. Quote
Ianrally Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 I’ve never understood how we managed to win the World Cup when Alf didn’t have an iPad. 3 Quote
