They need to try and get Madueke on the ball a bit more. Severely lacking ideas in the final third, as Tyrone said- moving the ball too slowly too.

Hopefully this puts an end to the renewed "We should have given Carsley the job" and "We shouldn't have picked  a German for National Coach" chatter which sprang up in some quarters after the improved performance Thursday night.

Let's get Tuchel in, give it a Gary Bowyer style "right good go" with the best available man for 18 mths, and see if we can get another gold star on the shirt.

Still not particularly arsed, it's a glorified friendly game again.

However, pleased to beat Ireland purely because we'd never hear the end of it - just like Scotland celebrating their 0-0 win against us last summer (or whenever it was).

Please keep moving the ball to slowly 🤣

5-0 to England against a god awful Irish side admittedly, who needs a German to manage the English national side? Not us….

Why's Palmer not in the squad btw? Injured?

He is injured.

Supposedly, although like a few I suspect had it been a Premier League game rather than a non entity of a supposed competition, he would be playing.

yet England have shown that we have a talent group of players and with plenty of options.

so please can I ask yourself a couple of questions

1) Do you think Lewis Hall should be long term left back now?

2) would you consider scrapping the Nations league for friendlies but 2 less International window during a season?

3) would you accept and agree with scrapping the current Champions League(other Euro comps) format in favour of knock out format like the 70's, 80's and 90's?

Doesn't seem like any vindication of our playing style or Carsley...I couldn't be arsed to watch but I saw the stats...weren't we fucking awful in the first half and didn't manage a shot on target? Sounds like we were failing to break down a poor side until they got someone sent off.

To be fair, Rovers U19's would beat this Ireland side.

Not really a marker for how good/bad we are.

That's a stretch, and not just because we don't have an U19s side. However you slice it, England are one of the better teams in world football and couldn't get through Ireland until they had 10 men. I think it's fair to say the youth side of an average Championship outfit would get pummelled by them. Heck, one of their players who has only recently broken into their team was hands down our senior team's best player last season.

Dont know on Lewis Hall, he is just about cementing a start at Newcastle. Either way, its a problem position and one that half decent teams will fancy exploiting.

Just scrap it entirely, no need for friendlies nearly 2 years before a tournament.

Id have stuck to the 8 groups of 4 format. Not this 36 team league.

Im not really sure that we have learnt much if at all from these 2 games. They were against 2 teams that couldnt even qualify for an expanded 24 team Euros that had the likes of Georgia and Albania there. The likes of Hall, Liveramento, Gibbs White, Solanke, Jones, Harwood Bellis and Gallagher are average Prem level players. (I know Gallagher has gone abroad where he is in and out for Atletico) They arent players that would compete against good teams, Ireland however have Championship players playing for them.

For me, Lewis Hall is our long term left back and we should be investing in him like we did with Ashley Cole under Sven.

I would scrap it and play a couple of friendlies instead but reduced the number of international break during a season

I would have a straight 2 leg knock out tournament of 32 teams. So its a 9 games tournament

Jones is part of Liverpool team who is playing very well and top of our PL.

What we have learnt is that we have a bigger pool of players to pick from who can play ay this league.

Greece look very decent, Ireland are just average team with few PL players and Finland look very poor.
