I'm sure a lot of them will re-sign, but it was one of the things that Broughton actually managed to fix.

We haven't tied down a first team player on a new contract since December 2023.

Anyone worth keeping, Dolan, Brittain, Hyam, Travis, Tronstad will not be signing new deals, because the club won't offer them.

You have to ask what the hell is Gestede doing? Surely this is one of his key responsibilities, to retain our best / key players, and then to keep adding to these and improve the squad over time. If he’s not on top of this, why is he even at the club?

This tells me that whatever 'deal' we have offered Dolan is abysmal, and probably doesn't even exist.

They will have to offer Dolan at least the same terms he is on now to keep him from leaving in the summer for nothing.

Obviously doesn't apply if he goes abroad.

I'm not advocating continuing the policy, but there also a couple of players that I think are best not renewing (Dolan included).

I still keep seeing comments on Facebook and Twitter with people asking why Dolan hasn't signed his contract and where does he expect to go if he leaves here.

Not a single first team player has signed new terms in almost 18 months now. It is unheard of and unprecedented. I'm sure even a club in administration would renew some deals so to protect the value of assets.

This tells me that whatever 'deal' we have offered Dolan is abysmal, and probably doesn't even exist.

I was thinking the same thing myself.

Dolan gets plenty of clog on here for being "greedy" etc but I cant remember anything official confirming he's even been offered a new deal.

There was a bit of a song and dance in the LT about Hedges being offered one (which is a joke in itself) but not even that has come to anything as far as Im aware. (Thankfully in that particular case)

No first team players are currently contracted past summer 2027.

Pickering, Gueye and Ohashi have options until 2028.

A bit concerning isn't it?

"Will the last 3 out of the building please turn........."

And yet some people still wonder why Eustace left or accuse him of personal greed.

I'm no fan of Gestede but we can't be blaming him for this .No new contracts being offered won't be his decision

This has happened before leading upto Mowbrays last season and Gestede had nothing to do with the club then.

A decision has been taken by either the owners or Pasha not to offer out néw deals as they will want to replace the likes of Tronstad ,Hyam  Travis (players deserving of pay rises) with players who will come in who will be on less money than those 3 are on now

We will be truly in the shit next season unless  (unlikely) we get promoted

The immediate future is looking very dark indeed. We are sleep-walking towards disaster.

This should be addressed as a matter of urgency by WATR and the Forum and anyone else who gets the chance.

What exactly are the plans for recruitment at the end of the season when we lose much of the squad?

Is there one? Has anybody asked?

Doubt they will go to league one and that is where Derby are heading

They have a personal relationship with the manager, it'll be for one season only and they'll get a pay rise. Not impossible is it?

They'll be going anyway.

Or they start decent enough in League One and Eustace gets offered a job in the championship and takes it and they are stuck in League One

No chance Travis ,Tronstad or Hyam would waste a year of their career in League One at this point

Derby don't have big money. The need investment which they are less likely to get in League One

Seems mad our new manager is signed to a longer deal than most (all?) of our players. How come we can give him a deal til 2028 when it could very easily go tits up with him (and you need to pay off a manager when that happens, you can't simply bench him), but seemingly not to even our best, most reliable players? Even Kargbo and Ribeiro only got relatively short deals and they only just rocked up.

This is all part of the grand plan.

Getting Ismael under a longer contract creates the illusion that there is some sort of strategy and medium term aim here. It persuades him to come in and commit to the club.

They'll go with the 'new era' stuff now as for a relatively small cost - contracts for Ismael and Whitehead - they'll delude most into thinking there is a new bright era on the horizon. Then out the back door they will bundle the few remaining quality players, who have worked their socks off this season to get us into this position and who we should be building around for years to come.

I can see it now - come the summer - release a load, sell a few, the rest heading into the final years of their deals - all dressed up under the heading of Ismael is building his own squad, new era, give him a chance.

I call it a con job to achieve their longer term aim of gutting the squad of senior proven players and replacing with low cost alternatives.

They'll push Ismael to the limits with it as they did JDT and Eustace and call his bluff.

Spot on analysis. The players contract situation is irrecoverable now in most cases. That ship has sailed.
